    Sampaoli not considering a resignation

Despite his team’s loss to Sao Paulo in the Brazilian Cup final on Sunday, Flamengo coach Jorge Sampaoli has stated that he is not considering a resignation.

Flamengo had to overcome a 1-0 deficit in the second leg of the Copa final but managed only a 1-1 draw. This result places the Brazilian powerhouse at risk of ending the season without any silverware for the first time in five years.

Reports in the local media suggest that Flamengo is exploring the possibility of a coaching change, with former Brazil coach Tite being considered as a potential replacement for Sampaoli.

Asked if he is considering stepping down, Sampaoli said, “‘I don’t think about it [resigning].

This assessment must be made by the club president. I know I arrived at a club in crisis that had lost four finals. We tried in these five months to change this reality. Without a doubt, what I wanted didn’t happen, but in those five months, I dedicated 24 hours a day to changing that reality … For me, Flamengo lost the Copa do Brasil unfairly.”

Arturo Vidal blasts his former coach Jorge Sampaoli, says he’s a ‘loser’

Arturo Vidal has strongly criticized his former manager, Jorge Sampaoli, labeling him a “loser coach” due to the treatment he received at Flamengo.

The ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich midfielder expressed his frustration with the Argentine coach for not granting him sufficient playing time at Flamengo following his debut for Athletico Paranaense.

Vidal, who made a substitute appearance in his new club’s 2-0 victory over Bahia, expressed his joy at finally being able to play and condemned Sampaoli for his failure to “appreciate” his players.

“I am very happy to be playing. I was always ready to play, it was just that I got stuck with a loser coach who did not know how to appreciate his players,” he said.

Although it was a trophy-laden stint with Flamengo for Vidal, where he won the Copa Libertadores and Brazilian Cup, his contract was terminated at the start of the year.

During his stay in Rio de Janeiro, he played just 21 matches, recording two goals and four assists.

However, he is now looking ahead to the future and aims to secure a starting position so that he can prove himself as a winner once again.

“All that is in the past now, I am happy now and I hope to be a starter in the upcoming matches and show everything that I have done over the course of my career, which is to be a winner,” he stated.

Vidal will be back in action against Vasco da Gama on Sunday in the Brazilian Serie A.

Embattled Sevilla fire Sampaoli after a 2-0 loss to fellow strugglers Getafeafter

After a string of poor performances that left Sevilla just two points above the LaLiga relegation zone, Jorge Sampaoli was fired by the Spanish club.

Sampaoli, who had just returned to management for a second stint in October, was finally fired after a 2-0 loss to fellow strugglers Getafe on Sunday.

Sevilla has lost four games in a row while winning just twice in their last seven La Liga games.

Sevilla did advance to the Europa League quarterfinals under Sampaoli, but when they take on Manchester United, a new manager will be in charge.

A Sevilla statement read: “Sevilla have terminated the contract of coach Jorge Sampaoli after the team’s defeat in Getafe, which has once again placed the team on the verge of relegation places.

“The fact that the team has not managed to get out of the lowest positions in the table since his incorporation as coach and the image offered in the last matches of the team have led the club to make this decision, in search of a reaction in the 12 games that remain in the league.

Alvarez talks on the progress he has made since Man City move

“Sevilla thanks Sampaoli for the services he has provided and wishes him the best of luck in his future.”

The club said they planned to appoint a new coach later on Tuesday, to be in charge in time to take an early-evening training session. Former Real Valladolid and Eibar boss Jose Luis Mendilibar has been strongly linked with the job.

Sampaoli was first put in charge in Sevilla ahead of the 2016-17 season and led them to a fourth-placed finish in LaLiga before leaving to take over as Argentina head coach.
