Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has provided an update on the situation regarding the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023.
She shared on Instagram that the police are still awaiting the toxicology results from the autopsy.
Additionally, Ojo revealed that the case has been transferred to the Directorate of Public Prosecution and that Mohbad’s body has not been released since it was exhumed in September.
She also pointed out that the surveillance cameras in Mohbad’s residence were never connected, resulting in a lack of footage to document the events surrounding his death.
“Update on Mohbad’s case: Please note that the CCTV camera in Mohbad’s house was never fixed or connected; it has no BVR or hard disc. Good news! DJ Splash has been discharged, and he is recovering very fast. Very soon, he will provide his own statement and address the general public. God bless us all,” Iyabo shared.
She further revealed, “Mohbad’s wife has been interrogated three times to the best of my knowledge. Two out of the three times was the day you all saw Mohbad’s dad televised by the police, in which they addressed the public on Mohbad’s case.
“Later that same day, Mohbad’s dad, mum and wife were sent to Panti for interrogation and to write their statements. Another day Mohbad’s wife was interrogated was the 21st of September 2023—the reason why Tonto and Senator Ishaku Abbo met her absences.”

The unexpected and enigmatic passing of Mohbad in September prompted peaceful nationwide protests, urging the police to launch an investigation. In response to public demands, an autopsy was conducted after his body was exhumed from his grave in Ikorodu.
Despite the police’s initial statement that the singer died from reactions to three injections administered by an auxiliary nurse, there is still a public anticipation for the results of the autopsy, which includes the toxicology report.
Following extensive questioning of more than 20 individuals, the police have identified five suspects in Mohbad’s case.
These include Feyisayo Ogendengbe, the nurse responsible for administering the injections at the singer’s residence, and Ayobami Sadiq, also known as Spending, a friend of the singer who invited the nurse.
Another friend of the deceased, Owodunni Ibrahim, known as Primeboy, who reportedly had a physical altercation with Mohbad a day before his demise, is another suspect. Naira Marley, his former music label boss, and Sam Larry, both of whom the singer had accused of bullying and physical assault prior to his death, are also under investigation.
