  • Player exodus cannot be stopped in Ghana – Inter Allies coach Tony Lokko

Inter Allies FC head coach Anthony Lokko insists player exodus cannot be stopped in Ghana.

The experienced trainer believes that home based footballers deserve more than what they are currently earning as salaries and bonuses which the clubs cannot.

And due to the fact that clubs cannot meet players’ demands, they will continue to travel elsewhere for greener environment every season.

It has been a common practice in Ghana as every season many talents travel outside the country to seek for greener pastures and that has affected the quality of the domestic league.

Lokko says it will be extremely difficult for the Ghana Football Association to stop the player exodus.

“It will be extremely difficult for us to stop players from travelling to seek greener pastures following how low their salaries are,” he told Opemsuo 104.7 FM in Kumasi.

“Until we are able to pay huge sums of money to our local players, we should forget to keep them in Ghana.”

  • Coronavirus: We are not ready for football – Inter Allies coach

Inter Allies head coach Tony Lokko has disclosed that his team is not ready for the resumption of football as the coronavirus pandemic lingers on.

Ghana has recorded 32,000 cases since the outbreak of the virus and as the government continues to ease restrictions on some sectors of the economy, football activities remained suspended since March this year.

The effects of the coronavirus have led to the Ghana FA cancelling the 2019/20 football season with a new date for restart scheduled for October.

Despite efforts from the Ghana FA to ensure football restart amid the pandemic, Inter Allies coach Tony Lokko has hinted that his players are not ready as safety measures or protocols to ensure football returns in the safest possible means have not been put in place.

“We are not ready for our football to come back,” Tony Lokko told BBC Africa.

“I have been communicating with my players and they are also scared. Look at the situation, we are all scared of the virus.

“The health materials we are supposed to put in place are not ready and that is the fear of everyone at the moment.”

Meanwhile, the Ghana FA despite announcing to start the Ghana Premier League in October is yet to disclose the plans to ensure all the COVID-19 protocols are adhered to.

The FA is still engaging the government on ways to ensure football restarts amid the pandemic.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo last week gave the green light for the country junior national teams to resume camping ahead of their international assignments.

All sporting activities were suspended by the Ghanaian government due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

However, with the gradual ease of lockdown in the country, the Black Starlets (Male U-17), Black Princesses (Female U-20) and Black Maidens (Female U-17) will resume camp.

Whilst giving updates on measures taken against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President said the U-17, U-20 female teams can resume camping ahead of their respective international assignments in September 2020.

“The playing, technical and management teams must observe strictly all the protocols issued by Government, CAF and FIFA against COVID-19 whilst training,” he said.

  • Match Preview: Berekum Chelsea v Inter Allies

Berekum Chelsea returned to home turf determined to make amends after a horror show in Elmina Sharks last week against Inter Allies.

The Blues tasted their second consecutive way defeat in that humiliating 3-1 reverse against Sharks.

At the Golden City Park, victory is guaranteed for the former league champions who are undefeated at home this term.

But their defenders will have a lot of work to do to stop the enterprising striker Victorien Adebayor.

Striker Kofi Owusu is recapturing his verve and scored in their defeat last week, so the club can count on him.

It rained goals for Inter Allies in their last trip after clobbering Eleven Wonders 3-0 in Techiman.

They have already lost at Aduana Stars and Karela United FC but in those matches, they played well.

  • I have never seen a striker like Adebayor in the GPL – Inter Allies defender Paul Abanga

Inter Allies defender Paul Abanga says he is yet to come across a striker better than teammate Victorien Adebayor in his time in the Ghana Premier League.

Victorien Adebayor is enjoying a blistering start to the season with the ‘Eleven is to One Boys’ after netting 8 goals in 9 premier league games, won four MVP’s and contributed three assists.

Abanga is impressed by the exploits of the Niger international and admits he has not met a better attacker in his five years in the top flight than Adebayor.

“Frankly speaking I have never met a guy like him,” Abanga told Joy Sports. “I have been in the Ghana Premier League for five years and I have never met a striker like him (Adebayor),” added the experienced defender.

“He is super on the pitch and off the pitch.

“Talking about striking, he is a striker. Whether he shows it on the pitch or not in a match he delivers.

“He does his as Adebayor and we know on the field of play he always delivers. We have so much confidence in him and we know what he is capable of doing.”

  • Adebayor has a lot to learn- Inter Allies chief

Technical head of Inter Allies Football Club, Henrik Peters insists red-hot striker Victorien Adebayor has a lot to learn despite his explosive start to the Ghana Premier League.

The Niger international has been in stupendous form in the domestic league, netting 8 goals in nine premier league games and is joint top scorer with Aduana Stars’ Yahaya Mohammed.

But the head of Inter Allies’ technical department believes the media is over hyping the player, who he thinks has a ‘lot to learn.’

“He is very good on one-against-one, thus dribbling, his left foot is very good,” the Dane told Joy Sports.

“But is also important to say you are making a lot of hype about Adebayor, he still have a lot to learn, he is a good player, he scores a lot of goals, he can go very far but he has a lot to learn.”

Victorien Adebayor joined the Accra based club in the 2017/18 season after excelling in the WAFU Cup of Nations in Ghana three years ago.

He has since been an integral member of the Capelli Boys and was recently a target of Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.
