Celebrated British actor known for portraying Superman, Henry Cavill has revealed that he and his girlfriend, Natalie Viscuso, are expecting their first child.

The couple, who have been together for three years, shared their happy news with Access Hollywood.

Cavill expressed his excitement about the impending arrival, saying, “Natalie and I are both very excited. I’m sure you’ll see much more of that.”

The actor had introduced Viscuso to the public in April 2021 through an Instagram post and has frequently spoken about his desire to start a family.

In a playful announcement, Cavill posted a photo of the couple at a chessboard, highlighting their fun-loving relationship.

Their relationship gained attention during their debut public appearance at the premiere of Enola Holmes 2, a film produced by Legendary Entertainment, where Viscuso has previously worked.

Legendary Entertainment is also known for its involvement in the production of Man Of Steel, another film starring Cavill.

In an earlier interview with Men’s Health magazine, Cavill emphasised his dedication to fitness not just for his roles but also for his future as a father.

“If I ever have kids one day, I want to be the dad who’s running round after them,” he said, expressing his desire to be an active and healthy parent. This announcement marks a significant milestone for Cavill, who had previously shared his dream of starting a family as his “biggest dream in life.”

As he prepares to embrace fatherhood, fans from Nigeria and around the globe join in his joy and anticipation for this new chapter in his life.

  • Henry Cavill teases return as Superman, says it will be ‘Enormously Joyful’

Henry Cavill has shed more light in his return to the role of Superman, saying this version will be “enormously joyful.”

“The character means so much to me. It’s been five years now. I never gave up hope,” Cavill said during an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast at 92NY in New York City, per Variety. “It’s amazing to be here now talking about it again. There is such a bright future ahead for the character. I’m so excited to tell a story with an enormously joyful Superman.”

The British actor said he first got the call about returning while he was in the midst of filming his Netflix fantasy series The Witcher, and that he wasn’t allowed to tell the team about Superman’s return. When he was able to sneak away from filming and head to Warner Bros., he recalled slipping on the suit again for the first time, and said it was a “powerful moment.”

“I went to Warner Bros.’ studio in the UK and got back in the suit,” Cavill said. “It was a very powerful moment for me. I wasn’t sure how I would feel…whether it would be something very emotionally connective because I put the ‘Man of Steel’ suit back on. I chose that one in particular because of the nostalgia attached to the suit. It was important for me to be standing there and enjoying that moment. That is one of the top moments in my career. It feels great to have the opportunity to wear it again.”

He added, “I told myself I’m gonna let it sit and simmer in the background. I never lost hope, that was the key for me.” However, he was unable to give any more information about the next Superman film.

THR wrote the “intention is for Cavill to star in at least one solo Superman movie,” with Cavil’s last solo Superman being 2013’s Man of Steel. He also co-headlined 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice; both from director Zack Snyder.

Cavil initially confirmed his return as Superman in a social media post.

“I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman,” he wrote at the time. “Thank you for your support and thank you for your patience. I promise it will be rewarded.”

  • Henry Cavill back as Superman

Henry Cavill posted to social media on Monday that he is “back as Superman” following his cameo in the post-credits scene of “Black Adam,” which opened on Friday to $140 million worldwide.

“I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch ‘Black Adam,’” Cavill said in a video posted to his Instagram feed. “But now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman.”

Cavill said his “Black Adam” cameo and the image of him in the Superman suit included in the Instagram video — taken by “Black Adam” producer Hiram Garcia — “are just a very small taste of things to come.” The 39-year-old actor gave no further detail, but he did thank the fans for their enthusiastic response to his return as the last son of Krypton.

“Thank you for your support and thank you for your patience,” Cavill said. “I promise it will be rewarded.”

The news comes after years of rumors, cameos and fan speculation about Superman’s long-awaited return in the DC Universe.

Dwayne Johnson has also been hyping up a showdown between his anti-hero Black Adam and Cavill’s Superman while promoting his film in the recent weeks.

Cavill first originated his Superman nearly 10 years ago in 2013’s “Man of Steel.” He has played the Son of Krypton just a handful of times since then: in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” 2017’s “Justice League,” 2021’s “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” and a brief post-credits cameo in “Black Adam.” (Superman as a character showed up at the end of 2019’s “Shazam!” but Cavill did not play the role, which was shot from the neck down.)

For many fans, Cavill seemed preternaturally destined for the role, between his uncanny handsomeness and superhuman physique.

But all of his outings as Superman proved to be controversial for one reason or another. Some fans loved director Zack Snyder’s physically robust, emotionally anguished and morally ambiguous approach to the character, while others found it antithetical to what has made Superman one of the most enduring superhero characters ever.

Cavill always seemed caught in the middle. The actor was seemingly left behind when Warner Bros. elected to part ways with Snyder and his creative vision for the DC Universe, which placed Cavill’s Superman at its center.

But the actor — who has kept busy on Netflix fronting the popular fantasy series “The Witcher” and playing Sherlock Holmes opposite Millie Bobby Brown in the “Enola Holmes” films — has not been shy about expressing his desire to continue donning Superman’s tights and cape.

J.J. Abrams’s Bad Robot, meanwhile, has been slowly developing a separate Black Superman project with author Ta-Nehisi Coates for over a year with no further announcements.

New Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has reportedly been frustrated that the character has been gathering dust while Marvel Studios continues to pump out at least three feature films a year.

Cavill appeared as the Man of Steel in the mid-credits scene of Black Adam, which became the biggest domestic box office debut for Dwayne Johnson as a leading actor this past weekend. His last appearance as Superman came in 2017’s Justice League.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Johnson proposed Cavill’s cameo to former DC film boss Walter Hamada and got turned down, with Hamada claiming he had his own vision for Superman. In July, Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy became Warner Bros.’ new film bosses. Johnson approached them with his idea and was given the green light.

The Black Adam production team filmed a mid-credits scene featuring Superman without showing Cavill’s face, since it was unclear if a deal with Cavill could be finalized in time. Cavill ended up shooting the scene in London just last month.

THR says the “intention is for Cavill to star in at least one solo Superman movie.” His lone solo outing was in 2013’s Man of Steel, and he co-headlined 2016’s maligned Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice; both came from director Zack Snyder.

Cavill’s confirmed return was met with excitement and some cautious optimism about where he could take the character going forward. See some fan reactions below.
