  • I was never in favor of Mark’s appointment as Deputy Tourism Minister – Hammer

I was never in favor of Mark’s appointment as Deputy Tourism Minister – Hammer

Music producer and sound engineer Hammer has voiced his opposition to the appointment of Mark Okraku Mantey as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts.

In an interview with Starr FM in Accra, Hammer shared his concerns, highlighting Mantey’s pattern of prioritizing his own interests over those of the community.

“I didn’t support Mark’s appointment, and I was vocal about it on social media,” Hammer stated. “Our history goes back a long way, and it’s clear what I find unacceptable.”

Hammer argued that Mantey has not made significant contributions to the industry.

While he respects Mantey’s business skills, Hammer emphasized that public office requires a commitment to the collective good, something he believes Mantey lacks.

“Public office demands setting aside personal desires to serve a greater cause. Mark has consistently focused on his own interests,” Hammer remarked.

He contrasted this with the approach of Ibrahim Ohene Gyan, who has nurtured and developed many individuals at OM Studios.

“Ibrahim has supported everyone who has been part of his team, helping them grow and even organizing significant personal events like weddings. His mentorship transforms people from basic roles into skilled professionals,” Hammer explained.

In conclusion, Hammer criticized Mantey for not having visible, community-focused achievements. He stressed that public service is about making a positive impact on the community. “Mark is not a bad person, but his actions have always been more about self-interest than serving the public,” Hammer concluded.

Music producer and sound engineer Hammer has expressed his disapproval of Mark Okraku Mantey’s appointment as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts. During an interview with Starr FM in Accra, Hammer explained that his objection stems from Mantey’s history of prioritizing personal gain over communal benefit.

“I was never in favor of Mark’s appointment, and I made my stance clear on social media,” Hammer revealed. “We have a long history, and it’s well-known what I can’t stand or tolerate.”

Hammer pointed out that Mantey’s long-term behavior has shown a lack of significant contributions. While acknowledging Mantey’s business skills, he noted that public office demands a focus on the greater good rather than individual interests. “Public service requires putting aside personal ambitions for a larger cause, and Mark has consistently acted in self-interest throughout his career,” Hammer noted.

He compared Mantey’s approach to that of Ibrahim Ohene Gyan, who has been instrumental in the growth and development of many individuals through OM Studios.

“Ibrahim has supported everyone who has worked with him, even organizing their personal milestones like weddings. He helps people grow from basic roles into skilled positions,” Hammer explained.

In summary, Hammer criticized Mantey’s lack of visible, communal achievements, emphasizing that true public service is defined by one’s contributions to the community. “Mark is not a bad person, but his actions have always been self-serving, not community-oriented,” Hammer concluded.

Self-centered Mark Okraku Mantey is undeserving of ministerial role – Hammer

Music producer and sound engineer Hammer has voiced his opposition to Mark Okraku Mantey’s appointment as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts, citing Mantey’s tendency to prioritize personal interests over the collective good.

In an interview with Accra-based Starr FM, Hammer explained his reasons for not supporting Mantey’s role in public office.

“I never supported Mark’s appointment, and everyone knows it,” Hammer stated. “I was very vocal on social media, and I clashed with him. We know each other well, and it’s clear what I can’t stand or tolerate.”

Hammer emphasized that actions over time reveal true character, and he believes Mantey has not demonstrated anything noteworthy throughout his career.

Although he acknowledges Mantey’s business acumen and admits to being a fan up to a certain point, he stressed the difference between private interests and public service.

“Public office is about setting aside your personal needs or desires and championing a cause. Throughout his career, Mark Okraku Mantey has been self-centered,” he asserted.

Hammer contrasted Mantey’s approach with that of Ibrahim Ohene Gyan, highlighting Gyan’s dedication to supporting and developing others through OM Studios.

“Over the years, the way he has managed OM Studios, he has supported everyone who passed through; he even organized their weddings for them. Dancers have become editors under his mentorship. It’s about self-development for everyone,” Hammer said.

Regarding Mantey’s accomplishments, Hammer remarked, “How do we know what Ibrahim has done? Because it’s visible to everyone. What you do in private is unseen, but your public deeds define you. Mark is not an evil or bad person, but he doesn’t prioritize the collective interest.”

My marriage lasted 5 months; I’m not interested in getting married again – Hammer

Famed music producer Edward Nana Poku Osei, aka Hammer, shared the untold story behind his short-lived marriage, shedding light on the factors that led to his divorce decades ago.

Hammer disclosed that his marriage lasted only five months, attributing the separation to a lack of compatibility between him and his ex-wife.

The producer explained that they decided to tie the knot after welcoming a child together before marriage, aiming to avoid societal criticism.

Despite not being deeply in love, Hammer believed the union could work, opting for a traditional and discreet wedding.

However, the couple soon realized their lack of affection for each other, leading to an amicable agreement to end the marriage early on.

Hammer reflected on the situation, asserting, “The match wasn’t made in heaven, but we were great friends, especially because we raised a kid together.”

Decades after the divorce, he emphasized that his focus has been on prioritizing his children, expressing disinterest in remarriage.
Nevertheless, Hammer remains open to the possibility of tying the knot again, revealing, “I am currently with a very great woman, and with time and God, you know, it will happen, but I am not in a hurry.”

Producer Hammer hints of return to music after hiatus

The well-known Ghanaian producer Hammer recently disclosed a major change in his strategy for the music business.

He revealed that, in contrast to custom, he no longer offers his beats for sale to musicians.

Rather than that, Hammer is now committed to helping up-and-coming musicians, having already made investments in the likes of Obrafour, Sarkodie, Kwaw Kese, ‘Ayigbe’ Edem, and numerous more.

Taking a break from the music scene to concentrate on his A1 bread business, Hammer cited the demanding nature of the industry and prolonged studio sessions as the reasons for his hiatus.

He clarified that the extended hours in the studio had taken a toll on his health, leading to his temporary withdrawal after collaborating with Tee Phlow.

However, the burgeoning investments in the music industry have enticed Hammer back into the studio.

Particularly influenced by Sarkodie’s encouragement, recognizing the industry’s evolving landscape, Hammer is gearing up for a comeback.

He is investing in new studio equipment with the intention of resuming his role not as a front man but as a dedicated developer of musical talent.

“Sarkodie was talking about it and how money was in the business, so last week I tendered my resignation, but my stock and equity are still intact, so I will get money from the A1 bread business. I am buying studio equipment because I gave out all my equipment. I wasn’t a front man but just a developer,” Hammer revealed in an interview on Onua TV.

As part of his renewed commitment, Hammer also plans to organize boot camps to train and nurture emerging talents in the music industry.

  • Blame Hammer for the death of hip-life – Mr Logic

Ghanaian artiste manager and Hitz FM pundit, Mr Logic, has voiced criticism against music producer Hammer, assigning him responsibility for the decline of the once-vibrant hip-life genre in Ghana since his departure from the industry.

During an appearance on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Mr Logic conveyed his dissatisfaction with the current state of hip-life and placed blame on Hammer for not preserving the genre’s legacy.

According to Mr Logic, Hammer’s departure has left an unaddressed void, contributing to the genre’s decline.

“Our problem is with leadership. It’s important that Okyeame Kwame acknowledge they didn’t do something right. I respect Hammer, but he left a generation down.

“If we are talking about why Hip Life doesn’t matter and they don’t have a category on the digital stores, popularise it, and they will find a way for it,” Mr Logic stated.

He pointed out that Hammer played a crucial role in shaping the careers of renowned artists such as Sarkodie, Kwaw Kese, Edem, Tinny, and TeePhlow.

Mr Logic commended Hammer for his adeptness in modernising hip-life, bringing in new trends in instrumentation and culture to the genre.

However, he expressed the belief that if Hammer had continued to play a pivotal role in hip-hop, numerous talents would have been nurtured and further enriched the genre.

“People lost the excitement for hip-life when Hammer and co resigned and said they were going to sell bread. You have instituted a movement and ignored to go and sell bread?” he fumed.

Mr Logic also drew attention to the impact of Hammer’s departure on the next generation of artistes who may have missed the opportunity to work with the influential producer.

“Hip Life got lost. He brought in a certain trend of instrumentation and a certain culture. Obrafour singing highlife and Sarkodie rapping hip-hop—that’s it. Hammer modernised hip-hop, and then one day he leaves. How about the next generation that wanted to work with him?” Mr Logic questioned.

Nonetheless, Mr Logic made a case for the potential growth and recognition of the genre on the international stage.

He added that, if Hammer had continued, genres like “Asakaa Drill” could have been categorised at prestigious awards like the Grammys.

This is just a bit of the young talent, he will blow our minds soon – Producer, Hammer on Blacko

Veteran Ghanaian producer Hammer has shared insights into Black Sherif’s considerable potential, emphasizing that Ghanaians have primarily experienced his rap skills.

During a conversation with Kwame Dadzie, Hammer expressed the belief that the 21-year-old artist could achieve even greater success by exploring Afrobeats.

Drawing a parallel with Obrafour’s early career, Hammer highlighted the transformative impact of Obrafour venturing into highlife with a different producer.

Hammer, who recently returned to the studio after an extended hiatus, sees similarities between Black Sherif and Obrafour in their early days.

He underscored the importance of artists experimenting with different sounds to unlock their full potential and avoid limiting themselves to a specific genre.

In a snippet of Hammer’s discussion posted online, the producer added, I think Black Sherif ‘s producer is showing us only one side of Blacko. When he enters Highlife or Afrobeats for real, he will be unmatched.

“At this point it’s safe to add @LASMIDOFFICIAL1 to the limited list of true unique artists who sound like nothing we’ve heard before them. The first and last of their kind. The kind of artist others try to emulate.

“This caliber is what’s known as your favorite artist’s favorite artists. To earn your way into this list requires that u dare to be different while remaining consistent with a style that has never been heard before. You can’t fake your way into that breed.

He also expressed hope in the artist’s craft, stating that if he continues on the same tangent, the likes of Drake could be knocking at his doors soon.

  • Lucifer has a special place in his heart for musicians, be wary of drugs – Hammer to musicians

Lucifer has a special place in his heart for musicians, be wary of drugs – Hammer to musicians

Popular music executive cum businessman, Hammer, has admonished musicians to be wary of the negative lifestyles they adopt at the peak of their careers.

According to him, Lucifer, who was once the greatest musician in heaven, has a special interest in destroying musicians, who he sees as competition after he (the devil) was cast out.

Speaking during a discussion on Showbiz 360, the founder of the Last Two Group established that musicians shouldn’t give the devil an easy job by adopting all kinds of damaging lifestyles, particularly drug abuse.

Hammer maintained that drug abuse is one of the tools that is mostly used to destroy the flourishing careers of musicians, who either die or watch their careers crumble before their eyes.

“There’s something that I’ve always said. The devil upon a time was supposed to be the greatest musician in the heavens. The devil was the leader of music in the heavens. That tells us that the devil has a special place in his heart for musicians. He is attracted to musicians. So we can only understand that, as musicians, we need to be careful,” he said.

He added that musicians should stop seeing drugs as a means to draw inspiration for their craft.

“A lot of people mistake these drugs or alcohol to be an avenue to inspiration. Arts is about inspiration. Some people, it comes to them. For others, they have to find it. So a lot of beginners try to get inspiration from various avenues,” he stated.

Some of the world’s greatest musicians were said to have died as a result of drug overdoses or intoxication.

The likes of Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Mac Miller, Heath Ledger, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Dolores O’Riordan, and many others reportedly lost their lives to drug abuse.

  • Nancy Pelosi: The hammer attack has traumatised us

Nancy Pelosi has stated that the violent attack on her husband has left her “heartbroken and traumatised.”

The speaker of the United States House of Representatives said her family was “grateful for the quick response of law enforcement” and for his medical care.

A male assailant struck Paul Pelosi with a hammer at the couple’s San Francisco home on Friday.

The 82-year-old’s condition “continues to improve” after the attack, Mrs Pelosi said.

He suffered a fractured skull and injuries to his right arm and hands, and remains in hospital receiving “life-saving” care, she said.

The suspect, David Depape, 42, is said to have demanded to see Mrs Pelosi – stoking fears about political violence in the run-up to the 8 November midterm elections.

The speaker – who was on the other side of the country in Washington DC at the time of the assault – flew back to see her husband in hospital.

In her statement, she said prayers and warm-wishers were comfort and were helping Mr Pelosi’s recovery.

Police officers responded to a call at around 02:27 local time (09:27 GMT) on Friday.

They found Mr Pelosi and the suspect struggling over a hammer, but it was wrested from Mr Pelosi by the intruder, who violently assaulted him with it.

The suspect was tackled and disarmed by officers. He had attempted to tie up Mr Pelosi “until Nancy got home”, law enforcement sources told CBS News. He reportedly shouted “where’s Nancy?” during the incident.

He is also facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and several other felonies.

Mrs Pelosi, also 82, is one of the most powerful politicians in the country. She was re-elected to a fourth term as Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2021, making her second in line to the presidency, after Vice-President Kamala Harris.

The Baltimore native has represented the San Francisco area in Congress since 1987 and typically splits her time between California and Washington DC.

She is currently fundraising and campaigning with Democrats around the country ahead of the midterm elections.

Paul Pelosi is the multimillionaire founder of a venture capital firm and lives primarily in San Francisco, where he was born and raised.

The couple has been married since 1963 and have five children.

Members of Congress have been on high alert over security threats since the riot at the US Capitol in January 2021.

Mrs Pelosi’s office in the building was ransacked by supporters of then-President Donald Trump during the riot.

US President Joe Biden has condemned the attack on Paul Pelosi and said “enough is enough” when it comes to violence in politics.
