    In a devastating incident on Saturday, 23 December 2023, three school children lost their lives, while 12 others were fortunate to be rescued after drowning at Gomoa Nyanyano sea while swimming.

    The victims, hailing from Kasoa, had ventured to Gomoa Nyanyano to enjoy a day of swimming during the ongoing Christmas vacation.

    Upon receiving a distress call from concerned community members, the police promptly responded to the scene and successfully rescued 12 children from the water.

    Unfortunately, despite extensive search efforts, the bodies of two children, aged between 10 and 15, were recovered, while one child remains missing.

    Expressing her condolences, the Municipal Chief Executive for Awutu Senya East, Anita Love Obo Amissah, remarked on the unfortunate nature of the incident, emphasizing the tragedy of school children losing their lives during the Christmas holidays.

    She also mentioned that officials from the Ghana Education Service (GES) have visited the parents and the school owner affected by this heart-wrenching event.

    The lives of 12 children were saved by the police who received a distress call from residents of Gomoa Nyanyano during a drowning incident on Saturday.

    These students who were on Christmas break from Kasoa, went swimming in Gomoa Nyanyano.

    Authorities, including personnel from the Ghana Education Service (GES), have visited the affected families and the school owner.

    Man in his 30s found dead in suspected suicide incident at Gomoa Nyanyano

    A man in his 30s was discovered dead in a suspected suicide incident at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Central Region’s Gomoa District.

    The young man was discovered hanging in an unfinished building.

    He was discovered with sand samples on his head and some markings in the form of teeth bites on his shoulders.

    According to residents, the young man is not known in the community.

    Kwame Alex, reporting on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.,5Fm, said the body was discovered today, Wednesday, June 21, 2023.

    The police were notified, and the body was later recovered and deposited at the mortuary.

    He stated that a ladder and a shirt were discovered at the scene.

    He went on to say that a further search of the body revealed a mobile device with the battery and sim card removed and placed in a black polythene bag.

    Some residents, including the Assembly member, who spoke to the reporter, said they ruled out suicide because the way the man was hanging suggested he was murdered somewhere and brought to the scene by the people who killed him.

    Two police officers were injured when two suspected criminals attacked them and run off with handcuffs during an operation at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Central Region.

    The police had dispatched a team of police officers from the intelligence unit to apprehend suspects who had reportedly robbed residents at Kasoa and sought refuge at Gomoa Nyanyano.

    Upon their arrival at the area, the officers were unexpectedly attacked by the young residents, resulting in injuries to two of them.

    Recognising the need for additional support, the remaining officers promptly called for reinforcement from the Central East Regional Police Command.

    Despite the challenges faced, the team successfully managed to apprehend eight individuals from the ghetto, while two others managed to flee, taking the police handcuffs with them.

    The injured police officers were swiftly sent to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.

    Meanwhile, the eight apprehended suspects were handed over to the Central East Regional Police Command for further investigation.

    The incident has prompted a thorough ongoing investigation by the authorities to uncover the identities and whereabouts of the escaped individuals.

    The police are determined to recover the stolen handcuffs and bring those responsible to justice.

    A seventeen-year-old Junior High School two pupil met his untimely death after a dilapidated abandoned bridge fell on him and killed him at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Central Region.

    The deceased was returning from school when the bridge broke and trapped him and got hit by a huge slab taking his life instantly.

    The body of the teenager was removed and deposited at the mortuary.

    The case has been reported to the police pending investigation.

    Meanwhile, some angry residents at Gomoa Nyanyano Allow Me Junction have threatened to vote against the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Desmond De-Graft Kwasi Patioo for failing to fix the bridge as part of his 2020 campaign promises.

    They doubt the MP will muster the courage to come and campaign in the area for the 2024 elections after not fulfilling his promises.

    According to the residents anytime it rains pupils, find it difficult to cross the bridge to their various schools.

    They are charging him to immediately have the bridge fixed to prevent another death.
