Hospital in Gaza’s south bombed, dozens of patients killed

At least 25 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza, according to hospital reports on Monday.

The attacks come nearly a week after Israel abruptly ended a ceasefire with Hamas, unleashing heavy bombardments that have left hundreds dead.

Amid the escalating violence, Egypt has put forward a new proposal to restore the ceasefire.

According to an Egyptian official, the plan would see Hamas release five captives in exchange for Israel allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza and agreeing to a temporary pause in fighting.

The proposal also includes the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

A Hamas official confirmed the group had “responded positively” to the offer but did not provide further details.

Both officials spoke anonymously, as they were not authorized to discuss the negotiations publicly.

  • Netanyahu applauds Trump’s daring plan for Gaza during meeting with Rubio

Netanyahu applauds Trump’s daring plan for Gaza during meeting with Rubio

Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced that he is working with US President Donald Trump to implement a plan to resettle Gaza’s population. After meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Jerusalem, Netanyahu stated that both countries have a shared strategy for the Palestinian territory.

This discussion follows Trump’s proposal to have the US take over Gaza and relocate the two million Palestinians to neighboring countries. The UN has warned that forcing civilians to move from occupied territories is illegal under international law and could be considered ethnic cleansing.

The US Secretary of State mentioned that Trump’s plan might have surprised people, but he believed it was bold to offer a new approach instead of old ideas. Netanyahu confirmed that he and Rubio discussed ways to make Trump’s vision happen and that the US and Israel agreed on the Gaza issue.

He also warned that there would be severe consequences if Hamas did not release all Israeli hostages.

“Hamas can not continue as a military or government force,” Rubio added. “And as long as it stands as a force that can govern or administer or a force that can threaten by use of violence, peace becomes impossible.”

The Israeli military started a campaign to destroy Hamas after a cross-border attack on October 7, 2023, where about 1,200 people were killed and 251 taken hostage. The fighting has caused severe damage in Gaza, with over 48,200 deaths in the 16-month war, according to Gaza’s health ministry run by Hamas.

Most people in Gaza have been displaced many times, and nearly 70% of buildings are damaged or destroyed. The systems for healthcare, water, sanitation, and hygiene have collapsed, and there are shortages of food, fuel, medicine, and shelter.

Palestinian and Arab leaders have rejected Trump’s plan to take over Gaza, stating that Palestinian land is “not for sale.” The US top diplomat did not meet with any Palestinian leaders to discuss Gaza’s future, unlike previous US peace efforts in the region.

At a joint news conference on Sunday, Rubio and Netanyahu discussed shared goals, such as removing Hamas’s control in Gaza, preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, and monitoring developments in Syria after Assad.

  • More than 100 detained as protesters defy Amsterdam’s ban on protests

More than 100 detained as protesters defy Amsterdam’s ban on protests

Dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested in Amsterdam on Sunday after defying a public protest ban imposed by the city’s mayor.

The demonstration, which took place in Dam Square, saw hundreds of participants calling for an end to the Gaza conflict and protesting the ban itself.

The public assembly ban was enacted by Mayor Femke Halsema following a series of violent incidents on Thursday night, after a football match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax Amsterdam.

Israeli fans were targeted in what authorities described as “hit-and-run” attacks, which left five people hospitalized and prompted the Israeli government to issue a warning advising its citizens to avoid Israeli sports and cultural events abroad.

The attacks, which authorities believe were driven by antisemitism, led to 62 arrests and sparked widespread condemnation across Europe, Israel, and the United States.

The timing of the violence, occurring just before the anniversary of Kristallnacht, further heightened the tension.

‘Amsterdam was already on edge, with incidents of violence reported before the match, including Israeli fans burning a Palestinian flag.

Despite the protest ban, demonstrators on Sunday insisted they had the right to voice opposition to both Israel’s actions in Gaza and the violent behavior of Maccabi supporters.

“This protest has nothing to do with antisemitism,” Alexander van Stokkum, one of the demonstrators, told the AFP news agency on Sunday. “It is against Israeli hooligans who were destroying our city.”

Others told a Reuters journalist: “We refuse to let the charge of antisemitism be weaponised to suppress Palestinian resistance.”

More than 100 protesters were detained during the demonstration, though police have not confirmed the exact number.

Activist Frank van der Linde had applied for a permit for the protest, citing a desire to speak out against what he called the “genocide in Gaza.”

However, Amsterdam’s district court upheld the ban, stating that the mayor had made the right decision in declaring the city a “high-risk security area.”

The Israeli embassy had warned Israeli citizens to stay away from Dam Square, citing the potential for violence. Israel’s National Security Council also advised its citizens to avoid public demonstrations in Europe, following a series of attacks targeting Israelis in several cities.

Meanwhile, Paris authorities are preparing for a high-security event at the Nations League match between France and Israel on November 14, with 4,000 officers set to be deployed across the city.

  • Hamas leader assassinated in Iran

    Hamas leader assassinated in Iran

Hamas’ top political leader was killed Wednesday by a predawn airstrike in the Iranian capital, Iran and the militant group said, blaming Israel for a shock assassination that risked escalating into an all-out regional war.

Iran’s supreme leader vowed revenge against Israel.

Israel, which kept silent about the strike, had pledged to kill Ismail Haniyeh and other Hamas leaders over the group’s Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel that sparked the war in Gaza.

The strike came just after Haniyeh had attended the inauguration of Iran’s new president in Tehran — and hours after Israel targeted a top commander in Iran’s ally Hezbollah in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

The assassination was potentially explosive amid the region’s volatile, intertwined conflicts because of its target, its timing and the decision to carry it out in Tehran. Most dangerous was the potential to push Iran and Israel into direct confrontation if Iran retaliates. The U.S. and other nations scrambled to prevent a wider, deadlier conflict.

In a statement on his official website, Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said revenge was “our duty” and that Israel had “prepared a harsh punishment for itself” by killing “a dear guest in our home.”

Bitter regional rivals, Israel and Iran risked plunging into war earlier this year when Israel hit Iran’s embassy in Damascus in April.

Iran retaliated, and Israel countered in an unprecedented exchange of strikes on each other’s soil, but international efforts succeeded in containing that cycle before it spun out of control.

Haniyeh’s killing also could prompt Hamas to pull out of negotiations for a cease-fire and hostage release deal in the 10-month-old war in Gaza, which U.S. mediators had said were making progress.

And it could inflame already rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, which international diplomats were trying to contain after a weekend rocket attack that killed 12 young people in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.

Israel carried out a rare strike Tuesday evening in the Lebanese capital that it said killed a top Hezbollah commander allegedly behind the rocket strike.

Hezbollah, which denied any role in the Golan strike, said Wednesday it was searching for the body of Fouad Shukur in the rubble of the building that was hit in a Beirut suburb. The strike killed three women and two children, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

There was no immediate reaction from the White House to Haniyeh’s death. A key question was whether Israel told the U.S., its top ally, ahead of time.

Asked about Haniyeh’s killing, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, “This is something we were not aware of or involved in.” Speaking to Channel News Asia, Blinken said he would not speculate about the impact on cease-fire efforts. “But I can tell you that the imperative of getting a cease-fire, the importance that that has for everyone, remains.”

  • Australian senator steps down after controversy over her vote on Gaza

Australian senator steps down after controversy over her vote on Gaza

Senator Fatima Payman has chosen to step down from Australia’s governing Labor Party, a decision that follows her recent support for a motion advocating for Palestinian statehood (Gaza) against her party’s stance.

The Labor Party imposes strict penalties for members who diverge from its official policies, and Senator Payman had previously faced an “indefinite suspension” from the party’s caucus after indicating her intention to defy the party line again.

“This is a matter I cannot compromise on,” the 29-year-old said on Thursday, adding that she was “deeply torn” over the decision.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed that Ms. Payman expressed gratitude for his leadership and refuted claims of coercion leading to her resignation. Ms. Payman has chosen to join the crossbench as an independent senator.

As Australia’s inaugural federal politician to wear a hijab, the 29-year-old lawmaker comes from a family that sought refuge in Australia following Afghanistan’s takeover by the Taliban in 1996.

“Unlike my colleagues, I know how it feels to be on the receiving end of injustice. My family did not flee a war-torn country to come here as refugees for me to remain silent when I see atrocities inflicted on innocent people,” she said during a press conference on her resignation.

The conflict in Gaza has become a volatile political issue in Australia that all sides have sought to carefully manage.
Officially the government favours a two-state solution, but it did not back the motion on statehood after trying – and failing – to insert a condition that any recognition should be “as part of a peace process”.

The Israeli military launched a campaign to destroy the Hamas group which runs Gaza in response to an unprecedented Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on 7 October, during which about 1,200 people were killed, and 251 others were taken hostage.

More than 37,900 people have been killed in Gaza since then, including 28 over the past 24 hours, according to the territory’s Hamas-run health ministry.

Ms Payman said that since crossing the Senate floor to vote with the Greens party last Tuesday she had received “immense support” from some colleagues, and “pressure… to toe the party line” from others. She also reported receiving “death threats and emails that were quite confronting” from members of the public.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who handed down the indefinite suspension on Sunday, had repeatedly said Ms Payman could rejoin the caucus – where MPs discuss the government’s agenda – if she was willing to participate “as a team player”.

But in a statement earlier this week, Ms Payman said she had been “exiled” by Labor – explaining that she had been removed from meetings, group chats and all committees.

  • Israel could have prevented deaths in Gaza tent fire by using modest weaponry – Experts

Israel could have prevented deaths in Gaza tent fire by using modest weaponry – Experts

Defense experts who looked at pictures of the wreckage from an Israeli bomb that caused a big fire in a camp for Palestinians who had to leave their homes, are wondering why Israel did not use smaller and more accurate weapons when there were so many innocent people close by. They said the bombs were probably made in the US.

The attacks, aimed at Hamas members, killed about 45 people who were staying in a temporary camp in southern Gaza near Rafah. Many countries have criticized the attacks.

Israel is looking into the attack and says the Hamas targets were 17 kilometers (1 mile) away from a place where they are supposed to help people in need. They checked before attacking and thought no civilians would be hurt.

Displaced people were all over the place, and Israel had not told them to leave. Even though the tents that caught on fire were not in the designated safe area, the people living there believed they would be protected.

Israel was attacked by Hamas on October 7, 2023. Israel hasn’t said where the burned tents were in relation to the compound it bombed on Sunday. They shared a satellite image showing some known civilian shelters about 180 meters (600 feet) away. It said that there were no tents nearby, but a fire started unexpectedly and sadly killed people in Gaza.

The Israeli military released a video showing people walking near the buildings that were targeted before they were blown up. The video also seems to show tents close by.

Israel has not said what bombs it used, but Rear Adm. (Ret) John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman, said that the U. S is providing Israel with bombs. Daniel Hagari, who speaks for the Israel Defense Forces, said that they used small bombs that weigh 37 pounds each and that an accidental explosion might have started the fire.

Defense experts said that even small bombs dropped from jets can be dangerous to civilians because they explode and can send pieces flying far away.

Pictures on social media from the tent camp on Monday, verified by The Associated Press, showed a special code on parts of the exploded weapons. This code is used to identify US government suppliers.

Two experts who know about military weapons said that they think the bombs used were probably small, 250-pound bombs made in the United States. They looked at pictures and photos from a satellite to decide.

Even though these bombs are smaller than other weapons the US has given to Israel, they can still cause a lot of damage. The whole 250-pound shell and parts are made to explode and send pieces flying up to 2,000 feet (600 meters) away.

“You have two bombs that can travel up to 600 meters in a crowded space. ” “Trevor Ball, who used to disarm bombs in the Army, said it doesn’t make sense if they’re trying to avoid injuries. ”

Ball said that the serial numbers on the tail kit and shell debris in the photos show that the bombs are 250-pound GBU-39. It’s not common to talk about a bomb’s explosive power, in this case 37 pounds, instead of its total weight, according to Ball and Mark Cancian, a retired Marine Corps Reserves colonel and senior adviser to the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

The messy area in Gaza shows that the bombs might have been set to explode before they hit, so they would have killed the people they were meant to but also might have hurt others by accident, according to Ball and Cancian. The pictures showed a little opening where pieces of metal were discovered.

The GBU-39 bomb can be set to explode right away when it hits the ground, making a big hole, or it can be set to explode later to go deeper into a target first.

They can also be programmed to explode in the air just before hitting the target, so they can hit more than one thing. But that place also causes a lot of damage over a wide area, which could explain a second explosion even if weapons or other flammable things were far away, Ball said.

Antony Blinken, who is in charge of the US’s foreign affairs, said that the US is waiting for an investigation in Moldova to find out what weapons were used and how they were used.

Blinken said that even though Israel used a small weapon for targeted attacks on terrorists, it can still have bad unintended results.

The experts in defense said that Israel had other, better choices to use instead of the GBU-39 when there were civilians close by.

“Israelis have used small, accurate drones to launch weapons before. ” These accurate attacks have not caused much damage besides hitting the exact target.

Israel could have used a smaller weapon called the mini-Spike in the strike. This weapon would have made less mess and been more targeted at specific Hamas leaders.

The US did not give Israel a delivery of big bombs because they were worried that Israel would use them in a place with a lot of Palestinians after bombing other parts of Gaza. Now, the same amount of people have left Rafah and are living in temporary tent camps and other places.

The strike on Sunday proved that even the small 250-pound bombs that the US has been giving can be too big to use in refugee areas with a lot of people. Cancian said this.

John Kirby, a person who helps keep the US safe, said on Wednesday that the US is still trying to get information from Israel about the deadly Rafah attack. He refused to talk about the weapons Israel used. But he did say that Israel’s public comments show they want to be more careful and exact when targeting.

  • Israel admits its forces are in centre of Rafah as part of ongoing attack in Gaza Strip

The Israeli army said on Friday that its soldiers are in the middle of Rafah as part of their growing attack in the southern Gaza city.

Israel sent its soldiers into the city on May 6. This made about 1 million Palestinians leave the city and made the UN’s help in that area very difficult. However, President Joe Biden said Israel has not fully invaded as he has advised them not to.

The Israeli military said on Friday that its forces have been active in many areas of the city. In the beginning, Israel attacked Rafah’s eastern neighborhoods and areas near the Egypt border. Israeli soldiers took control of the border crossing into Egypt on the first day of the attack and have also taken over a road that runs along the Gaza-Egypt border on the Gaza side.

This week, Israeli soldiers went into Rafah’s western area called Tel al-Sultan. There were big fights with Hamas fighters there. People saw it happen.

On Friday, the military said its soldiers in central Rafah found Hamas rocket launchers and tunnels. They also destroyed a place where the group stored weapons. It didn’t say exactly where in central Rafah the operations were happening, but earlier reports and people who saw it happen said it was in the Shaboura refugee camp and other places near the city center.

Israel says it’s important to attack Rafah to stop Hamas fighters in its campaign to destroy the group after they attacked southern Israel on Oct 7th.

Palestinian people who left the city are now living in poor tent camps in southern and central Gaza. Approximately 300,000 people are still in the area. Some are in the middle of the city. A UN official said this but asked not to say their name because they are not allowed to talk to the press. Shaina Low, who speaks for the Norwegian Refugee Council, a group that helps people in need, said that many people have gone to live in the countryside in the west of the city near the coast. This area has been hit by Israeli attacks and bombings in the past week, causing deaths.

  • Israel launches an assault across Gaza by sending tanks into Rafah

Israel launches an assault across Gaza by sending tanks into Rafah

Israeli tanks entered Rafah despite the World Court’s orders for a second day. The United States claimed that this was not a large-scale ground operation, even though they had warned Israel not to do it.

Israel moved its tanks into Rafah on Tuesday, even though they were told to stop attacking the city by the International Court of Justice. Many Palestinians were hiding in the city to escape the bombing.

The United States, which is very close to Israel, said again that they don’t support a big Israeli attack in Rafah. But they also said they don’t think that kind of attack is happening right now.

Rafah people said that Israeli tanks went into Tel Al-Sultan, Yibna, and near Shaboura but then went back to a safe area near the border with Egypt. This is different from attacks happening in other places.

Israel’s army controlled most of the buffer zone and wants to control it all to stop Hamas from bringing in weapons, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi.

He thought there would be more fighting in Gaza in 2024. Israel does not want to stop fighting or release prisoners.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters used weapons to fight against the invading forces. They used anti-tank rockets and mortar bombs and detonated explosive devices.

The Israeli army said three soldiers died and three others were seriously hurt in a battle in southern Gaza. They did not give any more details. Israel’s Kan radio said they were harmed by a bomb that exploded in a building in Rafah.

Health officials in the Palestinian territories said that some people were hurt by Israeli shooting in the eastern part of Rafah and supplies of aid were burned. People who live here said that Israel bombed the area a lot last night and many homes were destroyed. Most people have left because Israel told them to go.

Some people saw robotic tanks shooting guns in the city.

The internet and cell phone service went out in some parts of the east and west due to heavy bombing from Israel. This information was reported by the pro-Hamas Shehab news agency, residents, and other journalists. The Israeli military said they were not sure if the reports were true.

In the northern part of Gaza, tanks fired at some neighborhoods in Gaza City. The military also went further into Jabalia, which is the largest and oldest refugee camp in Gaza. People living there said that many homes were destroyed.

Health care is needed right away: government department.

Gaza’s health ministry said that some hospitals in areas where the army is working have stopped working. Ashraf Al-Qidra, who speaks for the group, asked for safe ways for fuel, medical supplies, and medical teams to get to Rafah and northern Gaza right away.

Qidra said that the Israeli occupation purposely destroyed the healthcare facilities in Rafah and the north and did not provide help for injured people.

About one million Palestinians who were staying in Rafah at the bottom of the Gaza Strip to hide from Israel’s attacks have now left because Israel told them to. This was reported by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees UNRWA on Tuesday.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has moved its medical teams from the hospital in Al-Mawasi because there are a lot of bombs and artillery in that area.

The World Court said on Friday that Israel did not say how it would keep the people from Rafah safe or give them food, water, and medicine. Israel’s leader said the order allowed the military to take action against Hamas fighters in that area.

In the city of Khan Younis, an Israeli air strike killed three people last night. One of them was Salama Baraka, who used to be a high-ranking police officer in Hamas. Doctors and Hamas media reported this.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said that one of its workers, Issam Aqel, was killed when an Israeli air strike hit his house in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. This brings the total number of staff killed since October 7 to 30, with at least 17 of them being killed while working.

Israel gave their new plan for stopping fighting and releasing hostages to Qatar, and Qatar was supposed to give it to Hamas on Tuesday, according to someone who knows about the situation. Hamas has not said anything yet on Wednesday. They said that there is no point in talking unless Israel stops its attack on Rafah.

More than 36,000 Palestinians have died in Israel’s attacks on Gaza, according to the health ministry in the area.

Israel started a war after militants from Hamas attacked communities in southern Israel on Oct 7. About 1,200 people were killed and over 250 hostages were taken, according to Israeli reports.

Many people in Gaza don’t have enough food because not enough aid is getting through. Aid agencies say Israel is stopping them from delivering food, but Israel says the agencies are to blame.

The aid pier built by the US military off Gaza’s coast broke because of bad weather, so it can’t be used for a while. This is another setback for aid efforts in the area. Two US officials reported this on Tuesday.

  • Israeli airstrikes kill 22 people in Rafah, Gaza

Israeli airstrikes kill 22 people in Rafah, Gaza

Palestinian doctors have said that an Israeli airstrike killed at least 22 people on Sunday. It hit tents where people had to leave their homes in the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Many other people were stuck under the rubble.

The strike happened two days after the International Court of Justice told Israel to stop its military attack in Rafah. Many people from Gaza were staying in Rafah before Israel’s recent invasion. Many people are still there while many others have left.

Video from the area showed a lot of damage and fire. There was no specific information about the target right away. The Israeli army said they did not know anything was happening in the area. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant visited Rafah on Sunday to learn about the ongoing military operations there.

A person from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said more people might die as they keep looking for and rescuing people in Rafah’s Tal al-Sultan area. It’s about two kilometers northwest of the city center.

The society said Israel marked the location as a “humanitarian area. ” The neighborhood is part of the areas Israel’s military told people to leave earlier this month.

The airstrike happened a few hours after Hamas fired many rockets from Gaza. The rockets set off air raid sirens in Tel Aviv, which hadn’t happened in a long time. This shows that Hamas is strong and determined, even after Israel’s big attack that has been going on for seven months.

There haven’t been any reports of people getting hurt in the first rocket attack from Gaza in a long time. Hamas’ soldiers said they did the attack. Palestinian fighters have sometimes shot rockets and mortars at towns near the Gaza border. Today, the military part of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization said it shot rockets at nearby towns.

The Israeli army said that eight rockets came from Rafah and crossed into Israel. The military stopped some of the missiles, according to a military spokesperson. Daniel Hagari said that the launcher in Rafah was broken.

On Sunday, trucks with aid went into Gaza from southern Israel using a new agreement. This allows them to avoid the Rafah crossing with Egypt because Israeli forces took control of the Palestinian side of it earlier this month. But it wasn’t right away known if charity groups could get to the help because of the fighting.

Egypt does not want to open the Rafah crossing until Palestinians have control of the Gaza side again. It decided to temporarily send traffic through Israel’s Kerem Shalom crossing, which is Gaza’s main cargo terminal, after a talk between US President Joe Biden and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi.

The Kerem Shalom crossing has been mostly closed because of Israel’s attack in Rafah. Israel said it let hundreds of trucks in, but the United Nations says it’s too dangerous to get the aid.

The UN leader’s spokesperson said that because the humanitarian operation is close to failing, the Israeli authorities need to help bring in and deliver aid from Egypt safely at Kerem Shalom.

The fight between Israel and Hamas has caused the death of almost 36,000 Palestinians, as reported by Gaza’s Health Ministry. They have not separated civilians and fighters in their count. The Health Ministry reported that 81 people who were killed by Israeli attacks had been taken to hospitals in the last day. Israel says that civilians are dying because Hamas is hiding in neighborhoods where many people live.

About 80% of Gaza’s 2.3 million people have left their homes. There are lots of people who are very hungry and United Nations officials are saying that some parts of the area are experiencing famine.

Hamas started the war by attacking Israel on October 7. They killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took about 250 hostages. Hamas still has about 100 people captive and the bodies of around 30 others, even though most of the others were let go during a break in fighting last year.

Israel’s leader says the country needs to capture Rafah to defeat Hamas completely. Hamas has moved to other parts of Gaza, where the military has been active. Netanyahu wants to stop them.

The fighting has made things more tense in the part of the West Bank that is controlled by Israel. The Palestinian authorities said that Israeli soldiers killed a 14-year-old boy near the town of Saeer in the southern West Bank on Sunday. The Israeli army said they had to shoot and kill a Palestinian man because he tried to stab Israeli soldiers at Beit Einun Junction.

Aid is having a hard time reaching the southern part of Gaza.

Southern Gaza hasn’t been getting much help since Israel went into Rafah on May 6. Since then, more than one million Palestinians, many of whom were already forced to leave their homes, have left the city.

Egypt’s government-controlled Al-Qahera TV showed video of trucks going into Gaza through Kerem Shalom. Khaled Zayed, the leader of the Egyptian Red Crescent in Sinai, said that on Sunday, they planned to send 200 trucks with aid and four trucks with fuel to Kerem Shalom from the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing.

Northern Gaza is getting help from Israel through two roads that Israel made open because people all over the world were very upset after Israeli attacks killed seven people who were helping with aid in April.

Every day, a few dozen trucks come into Gaza using a pier that the US made. But the pier can’t handle as many trucks as officials had hoped for – they wanted 150 trucks a day. Charitable groups say they need 600 trucks every day.

Israel arrests a man for threatening to start a rebellion.

Israel’s army caught someone they think made a video where a person dressed as a soldier talks about rebelling. In the video, the man said many soldiers were prepared to ignore the defence minister’s idea that Palestinians should rule Gaza after the war. They promised to only be loyal to Netanyahu.

Hagari, who speaks for the military, said that the man is no longer doing reserve duty. The man’s name has not been made public. It was unclear where or when the video was recorded. The prime minister’s office said they don’t support any kind of military disobedience.

  • Israeli government stops Associated Press’s live broadcast from Gaza

Israeli government stops Associated Press’s live broadcast from Gaza

The Associated Press has reported that Israeli authorities in Gaza deactivated their camera and seized their equipment. They think the Israeli government is using a new law against foreign broadcasters in a bad way.

“The Associated Press strongly criticizes the actions of the Israeli government,” said the non-profit news organization in a statement. “We ask the Israeli authorities to give back our equipment and let us start showing live news again. This will help us share important news with many media outlets worldwide. ”

The Israeli military often says that people can’t go to certain areas near Gaza because they are for the military only. The AP’s live feed showed what was happening in Gaza, where it’s hard for journalists to work because Israel and Egypt don’t let them in.

The Associated Press didn’t answer when the media asked for a comment. But the Foreign Press Association said they were worried about the shutdown and taking away of things.

Israel’s action today is a dangerous path to go down. Israel may stop other news organizations from showing live videos of Gaza. The FPA said that it could also let Israel stop the media from covering almost any news event for reasons of security that are not very clear.

Israel recently stopped Al Jazeera from operating in the country. They went to the news outlet’s offices, took their equipment, and closed them down. The United Nations and human rights groups criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for limiting press freedoms.

Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi said that the AP broke a new law by giving news to many clients, including Al Jazeera.

Karhi said in a statement that a camera that was taken away illegally is showing live footage of the northern Gaza Strip on the Aljazeera channel. This includes the actions of the IDF forces and puts our fighters at risk. Last week, the AP agency was warned that they are not allowed to broadcast on Al Jazeera according to the law and government’s decision. But they decided to continue anyway, which is causing harm to the state’s security.

The taken equipment consisted of a camera, stand, two microphones, and transmission gear, according to the statement.

Reporters Without Borders criticized Israel for taking the equipment.

Israel has banned Al Jazeera and is now angry at the AP. “RSF is upset that the news outlet’s camera was taken and the live video of Gaza was stopped because they think the images are being used by Al Jazeera. ”

Israel opposition leader Yair Lapid called the seizure “crazy. ”

He said that this is not Al Jazeera, it’s an American news organization that has won 53 Pulitzer Prizes. This government is acting like it wants to make sure that Israel is rejected by everyone in the world, no matter what. “They became crazy. “

  • 20 people dead in a central Gaza airstrike

20 people dead in a central Gaza airstrike

A bomb from Israel hit central Gaza and killed 20 people, mostly women and children. There is a lot of fighting happening in the north of Gaza. Israel’s leaders are arguing about who should be in charge of Gaza after the war, which has been going on for eight months.

The Prime Minister is getting criticized by his own War Cabinet. His main rival, Benny Gantz, says he will quit the government if a plan isn’t made by June 8 that involves other countries in running Gaza after the war.

US national security adviser Jake Sullivan was supposed to talk to important Israeli leaders on Sunday about a big plan the US has. The plan is for Saudi Arabia to agree to Israel and help the Palestinian Authority rule Gaza. In return, the Palestinians would eventually be able to have their own country.

Netanyahu doesn’t want a Palestinian state and said no to the proposals. He wants Israel to have control over security in Gaza and work with Palestinians who are not part of Hamas or the Palestinian Authority.

Gantz quitting won’t make Netanyahu’s government fall apart, but it will make him depend more on far-right friends who want Palestinians to leave Gaza, have a strong military presence, and create more Jewish towns there.

While people are talking more about planning for after the war, the fighting is still going on and it doesn’t look like it will end anytime soon. Lately, Hamas has come together again in some areas in the north of Gaza that were hit hard by bombings at the beginning of the war. Israeli soldiers had also been in these areas.

An air attack in Nuseirat, a crowded Palestinian refugee camp in central Gaza that has been around since the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, killed 20 people. This included eight women and four children, as reported by the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the nearby town of Deir al-Balah, where the bodies were taken.

A different attack on a street in Nuseirat caused the deaths of five more people, as reported by the Palestinian Red Crescent emergency service. In Deir al-Balah, a powerful attack caused the death of Zahed al-Houli, who was a high-ranking officer in the police force run by Hamas, and another man, as reported by Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

Palestinians are saying that there have been more airstrikes and intense fighting in the northern part of Gaza. Israel has been keeping this area cut off for a long time, and the World Food Program says there is a shortage of food.

The Civil Defense says that the attacks hit some houses near Kamal Adwan Hospital in the town of Beit Lahiya and at least 10 people were killed. The rescuers showed a video of them trying to save a woman stuck under collapsed buildings. There were loud explosions and smoke in the background.

In the nearby Jabliya refugee camp, people said there were many bombs and attacks with weapons.

Abdel-Kareem Radwan, a 48-year-old in Jabaliya, said that the situation is really hard. He said that the eastern side has turned into a place where Israeli fighter jets attack anything that moves.

Mahmoud Bassal, who speaks for the Civil Defense, said that rescuers found at least 150 bodies. More than half of them were women and children. This happened after Israel started a mission in Jabaliya last week. He said about 300 houses have been “completely ruined. ”

Israel attacked after Hamas attacked on Oct 7. The Palestinian fighters entered southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking around 250 as prisoners.

At least 35,000 Palestinians have died in the war, says Gaza’s Health Ministry. About 80% of the 23 million Palestinians have been forced to move within their area, sometimes more than once.

Israel says it tries not to hurt innocent people and says that Hamas is responsible for the high number of deaths and damage because they put their fighters, tunnels, and rocket launchers in crowded neighborhoods.

Netanyahu’s opponents, including many protesters, say that he is making the war last longer and refusing to agree to a ceasefire that would free hostages, because he wants to avoid being held accountable for the security mistakes that caused the attack.

Surveys say that Gantz, who is in the middle politically, would probably become the leader instead of Netanyahu if elections happen soon. This could lead to Netanyahu being charged for corruption he is accused of for a long time.

Netanyahu says he is not doing this for politics and wants to keep attacking until Hamas is stopped and the people being held captive in Gaza are released. He thinks it’s a waste of time to talk about what will happen after the war while Hamas is still fighting. The fighters have warned people not to work with Israel.

Netanyahu is being pressured by the United States, which is Israel’s closest friend. The United States has been giving important military help and support for the attack, but they are starting to get frustrated with how Israel is handling the war.

The US President Joe Biden’s team stopped a delivery of 3,500 big bombs to southern Gaza. They said they don’t want to give weapons for a big attack on the city of Rafah because they are worried about a big disaster for people living there.

Last week, Israel started a small military operation in Rafah. The government plans to go ahead with selling $1 billion worth of weapons, tank ammunition, vehicles and mortar rounds to Israel.

Sullivan is supposed to go to Israel after meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Saturday. The government is making a big plan for Saudi Arabia to accept Israel and work with other Arab countries to help Gaza. In return, they would get a defense agreement with the US and assistance in starting a civilian nuclear program.

US and Saudi officials say that the agreement needs Israel to agree to a realistic plan for a future Palestinian state, which Netanyahu has refused to do.

In Gantz’s statement, he said he wants to make friendly relationships with Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries. But he also said “we will not let anyone from another country, whether they are our friends or enemies, make us have a Palestinian state. “

3 Gaza hostages killed during music festival discovered dead by Israeli forces

The Israeli army said on Friday that they found the bodies of three Israeli hostages in Gaza who were taken by Hamas during an attack on October 7th. One of the hostages was Shani Louk, who was a German-Israeli.

A picture of 22-year-old Shani’s bent body in the back of a pickup truck traveled all around the world. It showed how many people were hurt in the militants’ attack on communities in southern Israel. The military found out that the other two bodies were a 28-year-old woman named Amit Buskila and a 56-year-old man named Itzhak Gelerenter.

Three people were killed by Hamas at a music festival near the Gaza border. Daniel Hagari spoke at a press meeting.

Israeli Leader Benjamin Netanyahu called the deaths “very sad,” and said, “We will bring back all of our people who were taken, both those who are still alive and those who have died. ”

The military found the bodies overnight, but they didn’t say where. They also didn’t give any details about it. Israel is working in the southern city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip because they believe there are hostages there.

Hamas militants attacked and killed about 1,200 people, most of them were innocent civilians. They also kidnapped around 250 other people in the Oct 7 incident. About half of the hostages have been released. Many of them were exchanged for Palestinian prisoners during a cease-fire in November.

Israel says about 100 people are still being held hostage in Gaza, along with the bodies of about 30 others. The fighting between Israel and Gaza has caused the deaths of over 35,000 Palestinians, as reported by health officials in Gaza.

Netanyahu promised to get rid of Hamas and bring back all the hostages, but he hasn’t done much yet. He is feeling pressure to quit, and the US has said it may reduce its help because of the bad situation for people in Gaza.

Israelis are split into two groups: one wants the government to stop the war and release the hostages, while the other thinks the hostages are a sad consequence of getting rid of Hamas. Negotiations with Qatar, the United States, and Egypt have not been very successful.

  • US doctors stranded in Gaza demand assistance from US government to get home

US doctors stranded in Gaza demand assistance from US government to get home

Dr Ahlia Kattan should be home in California with her three kids now. Instead, she is spending all her time at Gaza’s European Hospital on the outskirts of Rafah.

Kattan is a doctor who specializes in helping people who are very sick and need special care. He is one of at least 22 American doctors who are stuck in Gaza because the Israeli military closed the border to Egypt. Rafah was the only way for foreign aid workers to go in and out of Gaza.

My kids have been texting me today saying that you said you would be home on Tuesday, Kattan told the media. The WHO is working to find a safe way for us to leave. It’s not going to happen.

The crossing is not open because the army took control of it last week. Israeli and Egyptian officials have not been able to agree on reopening it. They are blaming each other for keeping it closed. At the moment, many foreign doctors are trapped in Gaza, and others can’t get in because the situation in the area is getting worse for people needing help.

FAJR Scientific, a non-profit organization in the United States, brought Kattan and 16 other doctors to Gaza. Now, they are asking the US government to help the team safely leave Gaza. They were supposed to leave on Monday.

“I am asking the US government to work together with the WHO to bring home US citizens who are stuck in a war zone as soon as possible,” said Mosab Nasser, the leader of the organization, who is also in Gaza.

At least one person on the team needs to be taken out for medical reasons, he said. 17 medics, such as 12 Americans, 3 people from the UK, 1 from Oman, and 1 from Egypt.

Kattan and her husband, who is a doctor, came to Gaza over two weeks ago because they saw the people suffering on TV and wanted to help.

We knew that people needed doctors to put them to sleep for surgery, especially women and children. “We knew we had something valuable to offer,” said Kattan.

The FAJR Scientific team made videos about their experiences and the conditions they face in the European Hospital. They only shared these videos with the media.

In a video, Laura Swoboda, a nurse who is an expert in treating wounds, talks about hearing the sound of drones flying above. “Some people think we are safe, but war is still happening. There is always a possibility that violence could start again,” she said.

The hospital is not the only place where you can find dangerous conditions.

We didn’t know how bad things were here. We couldn’t use soap to clean our hands before dealing with wounds that had maggots. Swoboda said they didn’t have sanitizer wipes to clean the tables after each patient.

Many people kept coming in one after another. We don’t have any more gauze to clean the cuts and scrapes. We don’t have any advanced dressings left, and we used up all of our cleaners. We are using whatever we can find right now.

This is what “clean” looks like in Gaza, says Kattan in a video showing an operating room with plastic overalls scattered on the operating table.

Before a surgery to fix the amputations of someone who lost all four limbs, Kattan talks about the lack of pain relief medicine. She picked up a bottle of Propofol and said the medics brought it with them from the US.

FAJR Scientific works with WHO. FAJR Scientific says WHO is trying to organize a rescue.

Another medical team from Palestine American Medical Association is currently working at the European Hospital. Out of the 19 people on the PAMA medical team, 10 are from the United States.

The volunteers on the FAJR Scientific mission knew it was risky to travel to a war zone, but they never thought they would get stuck in Gaza.

Now, she is struggling because she wants to go back home to her kids, but she also feels guilty for wanting to leave Gaza while the Israeli military might attack more and there might be a higher demand for medical help.

I miss my kids and waking up in the morning and realizing they are not next to me. The tough part is knowing that I will get to leave at some point. I get to go home and feel safe. “I know my kids are safe,” she said.

I have made a lot of friends here who are the same age as me and have kids my age. They don’t have things like security and basic needs.

After watching the hospital in southern Gaza struggle for over two weeks, Kattan said that she and her coworkers just want to leave Gaza if other doctors can take their place.

We are parents who want to be at home with our families, and children, we are doctors here, and we have friends and we can’t leave them.

  • Israeli strikes on Gaza have killed at least 31 people

Israeli strikes on Gaza have killed at least 31 people

In the past day, Israeli attacks in Gaza have killed 31 people and hurt 56, as reported by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

More than 35,300 people have been killed and 79,261 have been injured in the Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The ministry does not mention the number of people who are believed to be missing in Gaza since October 7.

Earlier on Friday morning, people who work to keep others safe and local reporters said that attacks from Israel in the area had caused the deaths of at least 10 people and injured others.

A bombing in the Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza killed at least six people. Civil defense officials came and helped evacuate the injured. Fighting has been very heavy in the Jabalya district in northern Gaza lately. A lot of people were hurt and some people died at a hospital in northern Gaza after Israel bombed the area.

People in Jabalya heard continuous gunfire throughout the night from Thursday to Friday.

Salama Maroof, who leads the government media office in Gaza, said on Thursday that the Israeli military had entered Jabalya and blocked off Beit Hanoun in the northeast.

In another attack at the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, Israeli warplanes bombed the Al-Jaouni School, where displaced people were staying, killing at least four people. Local reporters saw the bodies being brought to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al-Balah.

  • US military begins using floating pier to transport aid to Gaza

US military begins using floating pier to transport aid to Gaza

Trucks bringing help to Gaza are now coming ashore after arriving through a pier made by the US military. This information comes from the US Central Command.

On Thursday, a pier was built on a beach in Gaza. It will help bring aid from different countries to the area, where most border crossings are closed and a severe humanitarian crisis is happening.

According to CENTCOM, no US soldiers went on land in Gaza.

We want to bring 500 tons of help to Gaza every day through the pier, according to Adm. Brad Cooper is the leader of CENTCOM. This means they want to send about 90 trucks full of help every day, and they hope to increase it to 150 trucks a day.

A ship will bring aid to the pier on Friday. A UN official told the media that it’s not clear if they have started unloading the aid yet. The help will go to the top part of Gaza one day and to the bottom part on the next.

The maritime path is very important right now because the Rafah border to Gaza has been closed for over a week, stopping aid from getting in. That crossing was the only way for people to travel between Gaza and Egypt. Israel controls all the other border points in the area.

  • Project to build pier in Gaza Strip completed – US military

Project to build pier in Gaza Strip completed – US military

The US military put in a floating pier for Gaza Strip on Thursday. They will start to bring in supplies to help the people there. Gaza has been in a lot of fighting for seven months.

Last night, the construction was finished to make a plan for getting supplies to Palestinians who are hungry. This plan was made more than two months ago by US President Joe Biden. But it’s been hard to send the supplies because Israel took control of the Rafah border crossing, where the supplies would go through.

The maritime route has a lot of difficulties with getting aid into Gaza like logistics, weather and security. It’s meant to help get more aid into Gaza, but it’s not as cheap or sustainable as delivering aid by land. The aid will be taken to a port made by the Israelis near Gaza City. Then, aid groups will give it out to the people.

Violent fighting between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian fighters in Rafah has forced about 600,000 people to leave their homes. This is about a quarter of the population of Gaza, according to the UN. An additional 100,000 people have left some areas in northern Gaza because the Israeli military has started fighting there again.

Pentagon officials said that the fighting in Gaza isn’t a problem for the new aid distribution area on the shore. But they also said that they will keep a close eye on the security situation and might have to temporarily stop the aid shipments by sea. The site was attacked with mortar fire while it was being built. Hamas has said they will attack any foreign forces that stay in the Gaza Strip.

Protecting the US military is very important. “In the past few weeks, the United States and Israel made a plan to protect all their people by working together,” said Navy Vice Adm. Brad Cooper is a leader in the US military’s Central Command. “We believe the security plan can keep everyone safe. ”

US soldiers arrived and stopped at the pier at 7:40 am on Thursday. They didn’t go into the Gaza Strip and won’t while they are at the pier.

“The trucks with help for people are going to start unloading in a few days,” the command said. “The United Nations will get help and make sure it goes to the people in Gaza. ”

The World Food Program will be the program of the United Nations that helps give aid to people, officials said.

Israel will be responsible for keeping the shore safe, and there are also two American warships in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, the USS Arleigh Burke and the USS Paul Ignatius. Both ships are powerful warships with many different weapons and abilities. They are used to keep American soldiers safe at sea and help their allies on the land.

Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani from the Israeli military said that a pier has been built and the ground has been made flat and roads have been made for trucks by the Israeli engineering units.

“We have been helping the US military with this project for months, doing everything we can to support and assist them,” Shoshani said. “It’s very important in what we do. ”

Aid organizations say they are running out of food and fuel in southern Gaza. This will make it hard for hospitals to keep running and for aid trucks to deliver supplies. The UN and others have been saying for weeks that if Israel attacks Rafah, it will make it really hard for aid workers to help people and there will be a lot of innocent people getting hurt.

Over 1.4 million Palestinians, which is half of the people in Gaza, are staying in Rafah because they ran away from Israel’s attacks in other places.

Last week, a big ship filled with 475 crates of food left Cyprus to meet a US military ship, the Roy P Benavidez, near Gaza. The supplies on the MV Sagamore were transferred onto the Benavidez. The Pentagon said that transferring the aid between ships was a way to prepare so that it could be delivered quickly once the pier and causeway were set up.

The pier and causeway were supposed to be put in place, but bad weather caused a two-week delay. The rough sea made it too risky for US and Israeli soldiers to protect the path to the shore, according to US officials.

Military leaders have stated that aid will be given out little by little at first to make sure everything goes smoothly. They will begin by sending about 90 truckloads of help every day by sea, and soon that will go up to about 150 a day. But organizations that help people say that sending food alone will not stop a severe hunger crisis in Gaza. Israel needs to do more to open up routes for supplies to reach the people in need.

Israeli officials are not letting aid come through land crossings, so the US-built pier and sea route is not needed, according to Scott Paul from Oxfam.

Biden told the military to make a pier near Gaza so they can bring food and help by sea. Food deliveries are stuck at border crossings because of Israeli restrictions and increasing fighting.

The new sea route will bring humanitarian aid to Cyprus. When it arrives at Larnaca port, the aid will be checked for safety. It is put on ships, usually commercial ones, and taken about 200 miles (320 kilometers) to a big pier in the ocean that the US military built near Gaza.

    There are pallets there.

  • Employee of US Interior Department becomes Biden’s first Jewish appointee to resign over Gaza war

Employee of US Interior Department becomes Biden’s first Jewish appointee to resign over Gaza war

On Wednesday, a staffer of the Interior Department quit their job because they are Jewish and don’t agree with the US helping Israel in the war in Gaza.

Lily Greenberg Call, who works for the Interior Department, said that President Joe Biden is using Jews as a reason for the US policy in the conflict.

Call had worked for the presidential campaigns of Biden and Vice President Harris. He was also an activist for Israel before joining the government.

She is one of at least five high-ranking staff members who have publicly resigned in protest of the Biden administration’s support for Israel’s war against Hamas. She is the second person appointed by the government to leave their job, after another person with Palestinian heritage quit in January.

Her letter said she was happy to join a government that she thought had the same ideas as her for the country. “But, I can’t continue to work for this administration with a clear conscience,” she wrote.

In a talk with The Associated Press, Call mentioned things that Biden said at a White House event and a Holocaust Memorial event in Washington. Biden said that if there was no Israel, no Jew would be safe and that the Hamas-led attacks were fueled by a long-standing goal to destroy the Jewish people.

“He is showing that Jews are the main people in charge of the American military. ” “That is very wrong,” she said, mentioning that her family members were killed by the government.

The attacks led by Hamas on October 7th killed around 1,200 people in Israel. Israel’s army fought against Hamas in Gaza and more than 35,000 people from Palestine died.

The Biden administration has asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to aim more carefully at Hamas to protect civilians. It stopped sending bombs to Israel because it didn’t want them to be used in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

“I believe the president needs to understand that there are people in his administration who think this war is very bad,” Call said about the war and US support for it. “For everyone, including Palestinians, Israelis, Jews, and Americans, and also for his chances of winning the election. “

  • 40 individuals killed overnight by Israeli airstrikes at two locations in central Gaza

40 individuals killed overnight by Israeli airstrikes at two locations in central Gaza

The hospitals in central Gaza said that 40 people died in two Israeli attacks that happened close to each other last night.

Al Aqsa hospital got 29 bodies from one attack, including 9 children. Al Awda hospital got 11 bodies from the second attack.

The strikes happened around 1 in the morning. According to people who saw it, this happened at 2:45am on Tuesday. For people in the Eastern time zone, it was at 6pm and 7:45pm on Monday.

Rescue workers are still trying to find bodies under the rubble of a four-story building in Nuseirat. The building was destroyed in the first attack. Onlookers said that many people were seeking shelter in the building’s backyard.

A video on CNN showed people who were hurt and killed being taken to Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. Another video showed the bodies of some children being taken out from the wreckage.

The video showed family members anxiously waiting to see if anyone will be found alive in the rubble. The workers there don’t have the right tools to take away the concrete.

Some of the people who were killed had just come from Rafah, as said by the people who were there.

One person named Ashraf Al Jalees told CNN at the place: “I promise that these are innocent people. They are all under the ground, even kids. ” There are seven girls in this place. “What did they do wrong. ”

He told me he put up a tent for his friend Hassan Obeid, who he said is not connected to Hamas or anyone else.

Al Jalees called for Obeid and told him that he stayed to sleep at the house, but it collapsed on everyone inside. He said there are over 50 people trapped, and they are all innocent civilians. One day, God will ask me if I am telling the truth.

Hamdan Karaja said to CNN that his children, girls and boys, are trapped under the collapsed building. “My wife too,”

Karaja said he had seven kids. He said they found his father’s body.

“We have more than 100 people who had to leave their homes, and some of them are in groups of 20 family members. ” They are all stuck under the debris. “We were attacked while we were sleeping, without any warning,” he said.

“We also have tents for people who have been forced to leave their homes in the yard. ” We have 10 people who died here, and 20 people who died there.

Rami Al Aida, who works for the Civil Defense in Central Gaza, said that it’s really hard for crews to do their job because they don’t have enough fuel and equipment. We want to find people who are still alive. We ask all international groups to give the Civil Defense the tools, bulldozers, and fuel they need.

Al Aida also believed that many people were still trapped under the collapsed building, just like others at the site. “There are more than four families stuck under the collapsed building, and other families are looking for a place to stay nearby. ” There are over 100 people.

A girl named Sama Alousha said they heard a loud noise around 1am.

“We all got scared and went to see what happened. ” I saw my friend’s house all broken down. We can’t save anyone. “I have five friends stuck under here. ”

One man, who did not give his name, said that he and his family had been moved to different places many times.

“We were forced to leave Shajaiya. ” We went to Khan Younis and then to Rafah, and from Rafah, we came here. My brother got a house here and lived there with his family.

All of a sudden, I got a call telling me that the place where my brother was staying got hit. There are no tools to get them back. They are a family of six people who are not involved in any fighting or war. “My brother, his wife, and four kids. ”

Then he said the names of his brother’s family, but no one answered.

A woman named Um Mahmoud was crying and she said to the reporters, “My brother came to the area from Rafah three days ago because he had to leave his home, and now we don’t know where he is. ” He and his wife and their five kids don’t have any relationships with others. He is a person who had to leave Rafah and is still looking for a place to live in Deir el Balah.

“She said his name was on the list to leave Gaza through the Rafah border, but something unexpected happened. ”

A man named Salah Abu Jarada said his brother also came from the Rafah area. “They were struck by three floors falling on them. ” “They still haven’t been saved. ”

Another attack happened at the UNRWA school in Nuseirat, about two hours after the first one, as reported by people who saw it happen.

Ismail Abu Ghosheh said, “Everything is destroyed, and seven people died. ”

Another man at the school, Najah Abu Daher, said that there is nowhere safe to go. They go with us everywhere we go. My son and three of my family members were all killed. They attacked us in the middle of the night, making children run and breaking glass.

  • Total number of victims in Gaza remains constant – UN

Total number of victims in Gaza remains constant – UN

The United Nations said on Monday that the number of people who have died in Gaza since the fighting between Israel and Hamas started on October 7th is still more than 35,000, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

The update comes after the UN agency OCHA published a report on May 8 with new information about the number of Palestinians who were hurt or killed in the war. The UN report says fewer women and children were killed in the war than previously thought.

The UN is now counting the number of dead women and children whose names and details are known, instead of just counting all women and children who have died. This is why the number has gone down. The government department says that when people who have died are brought to hospitals, their deaths are included in the total number of deaths.

UN spokesperson Farhan Haq said in a meeting at the UN that the health ministry in Gaza has released two different numbers of people who have died – one for all deaths, and one for just the ones they know who died. The UN report only published the number of people who died and had their names and dates of birth recorded, which made things confusing.

Haq says that the ministry released a list of 24,686 confirmed deaths out of the total 34,622 deaths in Gaza as of April 30th. The number of people who have died is 7,797 children, 4,959 women, 1,924 elderly, and 10,006 men, according to the UN spokesperson who got the information from the Gaza health ministry.

The health authority in Gaza is still working on getting all the information about the people who were hurt.

Two people from the Palestinian Health Ministry told the news that even though they count how many identified and unidentified people have died separately, the total number of deaths is still the same.

The number of people who have died does not include the 10,000 people who are still missing and stuck under the collapsed buildings, officials said.

Israel started attacking Gaza’s military on Oct 7 because the group in charge, Hamas, killed over 1,200 people in Israel and kidnapped more than 250 others. Israel has been attacking Gaza for many months, destroying many parts of it and causing a shortage of necessary supplies. This puts over 2. 2 million people at risk of starving.

CNN received a report from the Palestinian health ministry that confirms the number published by OCHA. In the latest report, the Gaza Ministry of Health said that 15,103 children and 9,961 women have been killed in Gaza since Oct 7.

Both the United Nations and United States officials have said they believe the numbers from the Ministry of Health in Gaza are accurate.

CNN cannot check the ministry’s numbers by themselves. The ministry does not see a difference between the number of people hurt or killed in fighting and the number of civilians hurt or killed.

  • Rafah in Gaza become more miserable as Israeli forces continue their operation

Rafah in Gaza become more miserable as Israeli forces continue their operation

The United Nations’ agency for Palestinian refugees said that 360,000 Palestinians have left Rafah in the past week. Before the operation started, there were 1.3 million people living there, and most of them had already left because of the fighting between Israel and Hamas.

Israel has said that Rafah is the last place where the militant group is strong, ignoring warnings from the United States and other friends that any big attack there would be really bad for regular people. Hamas has again gathered in some of the parts of Gaza that were badly damaged by Israel’s attacks, even though Israel had said they had removed Hamas from those areas.

Aid workers are having a hard time giving out less and less food and other things to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who had to leave their homes because of what Israel says is a small military action in Rafah. The two main entrances to the southern Gaza city are still closed.

On Monday, Abeer Etefa from the World Food Program said that 38 trucks of flour came through the Western Erez Crossing to northern Gaza. Israel said that the crossing will be open on Sunday.

No food has gone into the main crossings in southern Gaza for a whole week.

The border between Gaza and Egypt is closed because Israeli soldiers took control of it a week ago. The fighting in Rafah city is stopping aid groups from getting to the Kerem Shalom crossing with Israel, even though Israel is saying that supply trucks can come in from its side.

Over the last week, the Israeli military has increased bombing and other activities in Rafah and told people to leave some areas of the city. Israel says it is doing a small operation to find and destroy tunnels and other things that militants use near the border with Egypt.

Israeli soldiers were fighting against Palestinian fighters in Zeitoun and the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza. The army had already started big operations in these areas earlier in the war.

Etefa said WFP is giving out food from their last supplies in the areas of Khan Younis and Deir Balah, where many people who left Rafah have gone. In Rafah, only two groups working with WFP were still giving out food, and no bakeries were open in the city.

“She said most distributions have stopped because people had to leave their homes, move away, and no longer have enough food. ” “The situation is getting worse and we can’t keep going like this. ”

Most people in Gaza need help from humanitarian groups to get food and other things they need to live. In Gaza, about 1.1 million Palestinians are struggling with severe hunger because it’s hard to get help from Israel. Some areas in the north are even experiencing a serious famine, according to the UN.

The boss of Kuwait Hospital in Rafah said the doctors and people living nearby have been told to leave. Sohaib al-Hams said that if the hospital is evacuated, it would have very bad results.

Israel has told people in northern Gaza to leave, even though many already left at the beginning of the war.

Mahmoud Shalabi, who works for a charity in the UK, said he was told to move from Beit Lahiya to Gaza City.

“I have gone out of my house many times with my parents who are over 70 years old, my three kids and my wife,” he said. “The experience of fear and being forced to leave home is very difficult to describe. ”

The fighting started when Hamas and other fighters attacked southern Israel on Oct 7. They killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and held 250 more as hostages. Terrorists still have around 100 people as prisoners and the bodies of over 30 others, after letting go most of the others during a temporary break in fighting last year.

Israel has attacked and killed over 35,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. They don’t separate civilians from fighters in their count. Israel claims to have killed more than 13,000 fighters, but has not shown any proof.

Israel had a sad Memorial Day on Monday. They had ceremonies to remember the soldiers who died, including the more than 600 who were killed since Oct 7. Most of the deaths happened in the first attack.

At the beginning of the day at Mount Herzl cemetery near Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to beat Hamas.

We are committed to winning this fight. We made the enemy pay and will continue to make them pay a heavy price for their bad behavior. “We will achieve our goal of winning and bringing all our hostages back home,” he said.

On Monday at 11:00 AM, there was two minutes of silence and four fighter planes flew over Jerusalem and nearby areas. Sirens were also heard.

People who are unhappy with the country’s leaders have been protesting in the streets. They interrupted some ceremonies to show their discontent. Critics say Netanyahu is responsible for the security and intelligence mistakes that led to the attack and for not making a deal with Hamas to let the hostages go.

International talks to stop fighting and free hostages stopped last week when Israel went into Rafah. Israel said no to Hamas’ main request to stop the war and pull its forces out of the area. They think that if they do this, Hamas will take over again and do more attacks like the one on Oct 7.

Netanyahu said he will keep attacking until Israel destroys Hamas’ army and government and gets back all the hostages they took. These are the things he wants to achieve, but they haven’t happened yet.

  • Israel may have violated international law using American weapons in Gaza – US suggests

Israel may have violated international law using American weapons in Gaza – US suggests

The United States suggests that Israel might have employed American-provided weaponry, potentially violating international humanitarian law at times during the Gaza conflict.

According to the State Department, it is deemed “reasonable to assess” that these arms were utilized in manners “inconsistent” with Israel’s obligations.

However, it acknowledged that the United States lacked comprehensive information in its evaluation and stated that shipments could persist.

The report, which experienced a delay, was submitted to Congress on Friday.

Ordered by the White House, the review examined the utilization of US-supplied arms by the country, alongside six others embroiled in conflicts, since the beginning of the previous year.

The report criticized certain Israeli operations in Gaza but refrained from explicitly stating that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) campaign had violated international law.

Israel faced an “extraordinary military challenge” combatting Hamas in Gaza, the report stated.

Furthermore, it mentioned that assurances from Israel regarding the lawful use of US weapons were considered “credible and reliable.”

The document also noted that because Hamas “uses civilian infrastructure for military purposes and civilians as human shields”, it was often “difficult to determine facts on the ground in an active war zone” of what are legitimate targets.

But it said that given Israel’s significant reliance on US-made weapons, they had probably been used “in instances inconsistent with its IHL [international humanitarian law] obligations or with established best practices for mitigating civilian harm”.

It added that “Israel has the knowledge, experience, and tools to implement best practices for mitigating civilian harm in its military operations”, but that “results on the ground, including high levels of civilian casualties, raise substantial questions as to whether the IDF is using them effectively in all cases”.

The report said the UN and humanitarian organisations had described Israeli efforts to mitigate civilian harm as “inconsistent, ineffective and inadequate”.

The state department found that Israel did not fully co-operate with US efforts to “maximise” humanitarian aid into Gaza in the initial months of the conflict. It said, however, that this situation had changed.

“We do not currently assess that the Israeli government is prohibiting or otherwise restricting the transport or delivery of US humanitarian assistance,” the report said.

One of the contributors to the report, David Satterfield, a former US ambassador to Turkey, told the BBC that the report was the first of its kind and that the US would continue to keep Israeli actions “under review”.

“This is a conflict quite unlike any that the world has seen,” he added. “We tried to take account of all those factors in coming up with a very frank, but also credible judgement.”

The report was finally released days after US President Joe Biden publicly threatened to withhold certain bombs and artillery shells from Israel if it went ahead with an assault on Rafah, the last stronghold of Hamas in Gaza that is packed with more than a million Palestinians.

Shortly before the report’s publication, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed President Biden’s warnings that the operation in Rafah would cross a “red line” and vowed that Israel would “stand alone” if necessary.

More than 80,000 people have fled Rafah since Monday, the UN says, with Israeli tanks reportedly massed close to built-up areas amid constant bombardment.

Israeli troops took control and closed the Rafah crossing with Egypt at the start of their operation, while the UN said it was too dangerous for its staff and lorries to reach the reopened Kerem Shalom crossing with Israel.

Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza to destroy Hamas in response to the group’s attack on southern Israel on 7 October, during which about 1,200 people were killed and 252 others were taken hostage. More than 34,900 people have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the territory’s Hamas-run health ministry.

  • 110,000 Palestinians forced to escape as heavy combat in Rafah, Gaza

110,000 Palestinians forced to escape as heavy combat in Rafah, Gaza

There is a big fight between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian fighters near the southern Gaza city of Rafah. This has made it hard for people to get help and more than 110,000 people have had to leave their homes and move north. UN officials shared this information on Friday.

There is a shortage of food and supplies because nothing is getting through the crossings, according to aid agencies.

The World Food Program will have no more food to give out in southern Gaza by Saturday, according to Georgios Petropoulos, a UN official in Rafah. Charities say there won’t be enough fuel soon. This means hospitals will have to close important services, and aid trucks won’t be able to operate in southern and central Gaza.

The United Nations and other groups have been saying for weeks that if Israel attacks Rafah, near the border with Egypt where aid comes in, it will stop aid work and cause a lot of civilians to get hurt. Over 14 million Palestinians, which is half of the people in Gaza, have been staying in Rafah. Many of them left other parts of Gaza to escape Israel’s attacks.

Intense fighting was happening in northern Gaza on Friday. Hamas was fighting back in an area where Israel had attacked before.

Israel didn’t fully invade Rafah as they had planned. The United States strongly disagrees with a big attack and is increasing pressure by saying they won’t give weapons to Israel.

The intense fighting has made the city shake and people are scared that a bigger attack is on the way. There were loud explosions and gunshots all night into Friday in the city, according to an Associated Press reporter.

The UN organization that helps refugees from Palestine, called UNRWA, said that over 110,000 people have left Rafah. Families who have moved a lot during the war are packing up to move again. A woman sat in the back of a truck with her family’s stuff, holding a cat in her arms. They were about to leave.

“The invasion hasn’t started yet, but things are already really bad,” said Raed al-Fayomi, a displaced person in Rafah. “There is no food or water. ”

People who ran away set up new tents in the city of Khan Younis, which was partially destroyed before by an Israeli attack, and the town of Deir al-Balah, making it difficult for the city’s infrastructure to handle.

The Project Hope charity said that their clinic in Deir al-Balah is seeing a lot of people from Rafah who need medical help for injuries from explosions, infections, and pregnancies. “People are leaving with nowhere to go. ” “We don’t have any homes or shelters for people to go to,” said Moses Kondowe, who leads the group’s Gaza team in Rafah.

Petropoulos said the people who help others in need didn’t have the things they needed to start working in new places. “We don’t have tents, blankets or bedding, or any other items that people on the move would normally get from humanitarian aid,” he said.

Israeli soldiers took control of the Rafah crossing from Gaza to Egypt on Tuesday and made it close. Rafah was the main place where fuel came in.

Israel says the main cargo terminal in Gaza, Kerem Shalom crossing, is open and aid convoys are coming in. Trucks with 200,000 liters of fuel were allowed to go through the crossing on Friday.

The UN said it is not safe for workers to go to the crossing in Gaza to get the aid because of the fighting between Israel and Hamas.

Israeli soldiers are fighting with Palestinians in eastern Rafah, which is close to the border crossings. The army found some tunnels and killed the militants in direct fights and airstrikes.

Hamas’s military group said it attacked a house where Israeli soldiers were, as well as a vehicle and soldiers who were walking. The Israeli military did not make any comments.

We cannot confirm the stories from both sides of the battlefield on our own.

Hamas said it fired mortar rounds at soldiers near the Kerem Shalom crossing. The army stopped two missile launches. The crossing was shut down because Hamas attacked nearby soldiers and killed four of them last weekend.

Hamas fired rockets at Beersheeva, a southern city in Israel, on Wednesday. A woman was lightly injured by shrapnel. Israel’s military and rescue services reported this on Friday. The military said that five rockets were aimed at the city. One rocket was stopped and the rest landed in open areas. During the war, fighters in Gaza shot many rockets at Israeli cities and towns. Most of the rockets were stopped, but lately there have been fewer attacks.

Israel says that Rafah is the only place where Hamas is still strong in Gaza. Israel wants to weaken Hamas and bring back the people they captured in a recent attack that started the war.

However, Hamas has continued to come together again, even in the most severely affected areas of Gaza.

Fierce fighting started this week in the Zeitoun area near Gaza City in the north of the territory. Israel attacked the northern part of Gaza first. They had said earlier that they had mostly taken apart Hamas there.

Israeli soldiers keep the north isolated, and the UN says around 300,000 people there are going through a severe food shortage.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to continue the Rafah military operation even if we don’t have US weapons. He said “we will fight with everything we have” in a strong statement on Thursday. The US has been sending more weapons to Israel during the war, and the Israeli military has confirmed this.

  • Rafah border crossing in Gaza taken over by Israeli forces

Rafah border crossing in Gaza taken over by Israeli forces

Israeli tanks took control of Gaza’s important Rafah border crossing on Tuesday. Despite urgent warnings from close allies, Israel moved into the southern city while ceasefire negotiations with Hamas were still uncertain.

The attack happened after a lot of fighting in the Israel-Hamas war. The militant group said on Monday that they agreed to a ceasefire proposal from Egypt and Qatar. Israel said that the agreement did not meet their main requests.

The important talks and military tensions gave a small chance for an agreement to stop the 7-month-long war in Gaza.

The Israeli attack last night seemed to be less than the full attack on Rafah that they had planned. It’s not clear if they will do more. The upcoming operation has made people around the world worried about what will happen to the 1. 3 million Palestinians in the city. It also might make the relationship between Israel and the United States worse.

US President Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to attack the city. Israel told 100,000 Palestinians to leave the eastern part of Rafah.

The Israeli 401st Brigade went into the Gaza side of the Rafah crossing on Tuesday morning and now has control of the border point. The military revealed video showing tanks with Israeli flags taking control of the area. The information in the video matched the features of the crossing that we already know about.

The borders between Israel and Gaza, where aid comes in, have been closed for the last two days. The closing of smaller entry points is making it harder to bring in food, medicine, and other supplies to keep the people in Gaza alive. This is especially worrisome because officials say that the northern part of Gaza is already in a state of severe famine.

Jens Laerke, who speaks for the UN’s humanitarian affairs office (OCHA), said that Israeli authorities have refused to let them into the Rafah crossing. He said if there is trouble at Rafah, it could stop the aid from getting to people who need it. The fuel for the aid comes through there, and without it, the aid can’t go anywhere.

“It will make this crisis much worse, and could even lead to a famine,” he said. The Israeli army is not listening to warnings about how this could affect the people and the help efforts in Gaza.

The army attacked Rafah many times last night, and at least 23 Palestinians were killed, including six women and five children, according to hospital records seen by The Associated Press.

Mohamed Abu Amra said his family members were killed when a bomb hit their house while they were sleeping. “We didn’t do anything. ” Please simplify this text. “We do not have Hamas,” he said. “We discovered a fire that was consuming us. ” The house was really messy.

The Israeli military said it took control of the Rafah crossing because they were told it was being used by terrorists. They did not show proof right away, but they said Hamas fighters near the crossing attacked and killed four Israeli soldiers and injured others.

The army said soldiers and planes attacked places in Rafah where they thought Hamas might be.

Spokesperson from Egyptian Foreign Ministry said they can’t comment right now about Israel taking control of the crossing.

Egypt has said that if Rafah is taken over or if Palestinians are forced to leave and go into Egypt, it could harm the peace agreement with Israel that has been important for keeping the region safe.

Israel is planning to attack Rafah. Many people are worried that a lot of civilians will die in the fighting. So far, more than 34,700 Palestinians have been killed in the attacks. Gaza health officials provided this information. The attack destroyed a large part of the land and now people are struggling to find enough food, water, and medicine.

The Rafah operation has made the disagreement between Netanyahu and Biden about how the war is being fought even bigger. Netanyahu says it is important to attack Rafah because it is a big area controlled by Hamas. Israel wants to destroy Hamas after they attacked southern Israel on Oct 7.

During the unexpected attack by Hamas, about 1,200 people were killed and around 250 others were taken as hostages to Gaza. Israeli critics say that Netanyahu is worried about his government staying in power because some of the strong supporters in his group might leave if he agrees to a deal before a possible attack on Rafah.

On Monday, Biden called Netanyahu and said that stopping the fighting would be the best way to get back the people still kept by Hamas, which is believed to be about 100 people, and also the bodies of about 30 others.

Israel said it will continue with its operations in Rafah. It did not agree with the cease-fire proposal from Hamas. However, it will send a group to Egypt for further talks.

An Egyptian official and a Western diplomat said that the draft Hamas agreed to had very few changes in the wording compared to the version the US had asked for earlier, which Israel had also approved. The CIA chief William Burns agreed to the changes before sending the draft to the Palestinian group. This was disclosed by an anonymous diplomat and official who was involved in the discussions.

The White House said Burns was talking about Hamas’ response with the Israelis and other officials in the area.

Hamas has agreed to a plan that includes releasing the hostages little by little, as Israeli troops also leave the area. The goal is to have a permanent peace with no more fighting.

In the beginning of the ceasefire, Hamas would let go of 33 hostages, such as women, children, older people, and sick people, in exchange for hundreds of Palestinians being released from Israeli prisons, and Israeli forces would leave some areas of Gaza. The groups will talk about the next step. They will let the civilian men and soldiers go, and Israel will leave the rest of Gaza.

Hamas wants the war to stop and for Israel to pull out all its soldiers in exchange for freeing all the hostages. Israeli leaders openly say they won’t stop fighting until the hostages are free and Hamas is gone.

  • New humanitarian route to Gaza on schedule – USAID

New humanitarian route to Gaza on schedule – USAID

The US is getting ready to help people in Gaza with food, medicine, and other urgent help. They plan to have everything ready by the middle of the month.

The new route led by the US will give help to only a few people in Gaza, not all who need it. This was emphasized by a USAID official to The Associated Press. This is one of the first times the agency has said how things are going for the Biden administration’s $320 million Gaza pier project. USAID is working to make sure the project is safe and things are getting to the right places.

At a factory in southern Georgia, USAID Administrator Samantha Power will announce on Friday a $200 million investment to increase US production of emergency food for hungry children under 5. This is needed because conflicts in Gaza, Sudan, Haiti and other places are causing more children to go hungry.

USAID allowed one of the workers in Gaza to be interviewed, but asked that the person remain anonymous because of security reasons related to their work in conflict areas.

The war between Israel and Hamas has been going on for almost seven months, and Israel is not allowing enough food and supplies to reach Gaza. As a result, half of Gaza’s 2. 3 million people are in danger of not having enough food to eat, according to health officials from other countries. Under pressure from the US and other countries, Israeli officials have started to slowly open some border crossings to allow relief shipments to come in.

Young children under 5 are some of the first to die when there is not enough food because of wars, droughts, or other disasters. Officials at a hospital in northern Gaza said that the first people died from not having enough food in early March. They said that most of the people who died were children.

USAID is working with the UN World Food Program, Israel, and others to make sure the pier is safe and food can be delivered easily. The US military is also helping to build the pier so that aid can be sent by ship. President Joe Biden felt pressure to help the people in Gaza because of the bad situation there. The US gives military help to Israel, and President Biden announced a project to help Gaza in March.

The US Central Command said on Friday that putting together the floating pier in the water has stopped for now because strong winds and big waves are making it dangerous for the soldiers. The half-built pier and the military ships are now at the Port of Ashdod and will keep working there.

A person from the US government said the installation will be delayed for a few days because of rough seas. It might not happen until later next week. The person in charge, who didn’t want their name to be shared, said that the break in the operation might last even longer if the weather stays bad because the military and divers need to go in the water to finish the work.

The United Nations has not spoken much about its role in giving aid to people.

“We want to see more activities on land. ” “This is a sea mission,” said UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric on Wednesday. “We are helping them, but they need to follow certain rules, like being independent and not involved in the military. ”

The problems with giving first aid through a newly opened land path to north Gaza on Wednesday showed the unsureness about safety and the risk for aid workers. Israeli people living in occupied territories stopped the group of vehicles from passing through. Then, Hamas fighters changed the direction of a World Food Program truck in Gaza before it reached where it was supposed to go.

A factory in Fitzgerald, Georgia was producing a special nutrient-packed paste, and it was one of only two factories in the US making it. The ready-to-use therapeutic food, RUTF, is made to save the lives of children under 5 who are extremely hungry. It is given to them in a hospital or clinic.

In Gaza, they really need paste in the northern part of the area. Regular people are not getting much help, getting bombed by Israel, and have to hide because of the fighting.

The number of young children who are very malnourished has gone up a lot, from 1% to 30% in just five months because of the war, according to the USAID official. The official said it was the quickest increase in hunger in recent history, even faster than in serious conflicts and food shortages in Somalia or South Sudan.

One of the only hospitals in northern Gaza, Kamal Adwan hospital, is overwhelmed with parents bringing in many sick children with malnutrition for help, according to the official. Aid workers think there are many hungry children who aren’t getting help because their families can’t get them to places with food and medical care because of the fighting and checkpoints.

We need to give more help to the very hungry children and make sure there is no fighting so that aid workers can help them and their families get the treatment they need.

  • Prominent Gaza surgeon Adnan Al-Bursh passes away in an Israeli jail

Prominent Gaza surgeon Adnan Al-Bursh passes away in an Israeli jail

A well-known doctor in Gaza has passed away in an Israeli jail after being held for over four months. Palestinian prisoner groups say his death is part of a pattern of targeting health workers.

Dr Adnan Al-Bursh, who is the leader of the bone doctor department at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, passed away in an Israeli prison on April 19. This information was shared in a statement on Thursday by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society and the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs.

Al-Bursh and 10 other medical workers were arrested in December when the Israeli military invaded the Jabalya refugee camp, according to CNN. The statement said he was taken away while he was helping patients at Al-Awda Hospital.

The Israeli authorities have not yet let his body go.

The prisoner groups accused Israel for his death. They said it was part of a plan to harm doctors and the healthcare system in Gaza.

The 50-year-old’s death was very sad for everyone – his family, the doctors at Al-Shifa Hospital, and for Dr. Adnan’s patients, said Dr. Marwan Abu Saada, the director of the hospital.

“He said this news is the worst and hurts our hearts. ” “Dr Adnan really enjoyed life, was always happy, and everyone loved him. ”

Mohammad Al-Bursh, the nephew of Al-Bursh, said in a phone interview that he learned about his uncle’s death from the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society on Thursday at around 1 pm.

“I didn’t know how to tell his wife and my dad. ” It’s really hard to believe this news and we are very surprised. “We are hurting,” he said.

Dr Al-Bursh was the youngest of nine brothers and sisters. He wasn’t just a doctor, he also helped the Palestinian national team with sports, according to his nephew.

He said to CNN that his uncle worked all the time during the worst part of the war in Gaza. He only took an hour in the morning to exercise and play sports at the beach.

“Starting on October 10, 2023, he stayed at Al-Shifa hospital all the time. ” Mohammed said he didn’t see his wife for about two weeks.

When Israel first went into Al-Shifa hospital, Mohammad told CNN that Israeli soldiers told the medical staff, including Dr. Al-Bursh, that they had to leave the hospital and go south, or they would be arrested.

Mohammad said he did what he was told and went to the south for a little while. When he thought it was safe, he came back to the north of Gaza. Dr Al-Bursh had to keep changing hospitals in Gaza because they were always getting attacked by Israelis.

Mohammad said that Dr Al-Bursh could have run away and gone to shelters in Jabalya, but he chose to stay and keep working. Until Israeli soldiers arrested him on December 14th of last year.

Mohammad said he tried to find out what happened to his uncle from the police and lawyers, but they wouldn’t tell him.

Accusations of hurting someone’s body and mind.

Abu Saada, like Mohammad, said he had asked Israeli authorities about Al-Bursh’s detention but didn’t get any news. He was told by one of Al-Bursh’s fellow prisoners, who had been released, that the surgeon had been tortured and killed.

The news cannot check if it is true that Al-Bursh was hurt while in jail. However, many Palestinians who were freed by Israel have said that they were treated badly while they were held in custody during the fighting in Gaza.

The IDF has said it follows the rules when it detains people.

A secret report from the United Nations says that the media has found describes how the Israeli military has hurt and threatened people in prison. This includes hitting, not letting them sleep, and making sexual threats.

Israel let go many people from Gaza through Kerem Shalom crossing in southern Israel on Thursday.

The release of Ismail Khadr’s body was announced by prisoner associations. Ismail was a Palestinian man from Gaza who had died in Israeli custody. The number of Palestinian prisoners who have died in Israeli jails since October 7 is now 18, according to the statement.

Israel started a war in Gaza because the Hamas group attacked on October 7 and killed over 1,200 people in southern Israel and took more than 200 people as hostages. Israel used force against Gaza and caused a big crisis there. This has made a lot of people very upset all around the world.

In the last seven months, more than 34,600 people have been killed in Gaza because of the bombing. Half of the 2. 2 million people in Gaza are very close to starving, and a famine made by people is very likely to happen soon, according to a scale used by United Nations agencies. People are worried about Israel’s plan to attack southern Gaza. They want a ceasefire to stop the fighting.

Many people are very mad at Israel for what they are doing near hospitals in Gaza. Doctors and other groups say the health system in Gaza is about to break.

Israel says it went into medical centers in Gaza to stop Hamas fighters from using them for military activities. They claim that Hamas was using the underground tunnels at the hospitals for their operations. Hamas and doctors at different hospitals in Gaza say the accusations are not true. Israel is being strongly urged by the world to show evidence for its claims.

Dr Al-Bursh has five children. The youngest is three years old. They hadn’t seen their father in almost five months.

  • Five Israeli security forces violated human rights prior to Gaza War – US

Five Israeli security forces violated human rights prior to Gaza War – US

The US government has found that five Israeli security groups did very wrong things to people before the war with Hamas in Gaza started. They are thinking about stopping giving weapons and help to one of the groups because of this.

The other four have fixed these violations, said Vedant Patel, who works for the State Department. He did not say how they fixed the problems.

The US hasn’t made a decision yet about giving military help to the last group, which is said to be the ultra-Orthodox Netzah Yehuda battalion. The battalion was involved in the death of a Palestinian American man in January 2022.

“We are talking with the Israeli government. ” They have given more information about that unit, and we are still talking about it, Patel said.

Patel mentioned that all these events happened before October 7 and none of them happened in Gaza.

A person who knows about the situation said that the Israelis have recently told the US about things they did that they hadn’t mentioned before. The US is looking at these actions to decide if they are enough to stop cutting aid.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken sent a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson and said that three units are from the Israel Defense Forces and two are civilian units. He also said that the abuses happened in the West Bank.

The Biden administration is being criticized for giving in to pressure from the Israeli government to not take action against a certain group. Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, strongly disagreed with the reports of possible action by the US.

“Netanyahu said last week that it’s very wrong to punish a unit in the IDF while our soldiers are fighting terrorists. ”

“I will make sure the government takes strong action against these actions,” he said.

Patel said on Monday that he doesn’t believe Israel is getting special treatment by being given more time to provide information before facing punishment.

“I didn’t say anything that goes against the Leahy process,” he said.

According to the Leahy Law, the US cannot help foreign security units that are involved in human rights abuses. However, they can resume assistance if the Secretary of State confirms that the country’s government is taking action to hold the guilty members of the security forces accountable.

Blinken wrote a letter to Johnson saying that one of the IDF units has not fixed their problems yet.

“The Israeli government recognized that this unit did not follow the rules of the IDF. As a result, they were moved from the West Bank to the Golan Heights in 2022,” Blinken wrote, without saying which unit it was.

In 2022, the Netzah Yehuda battalion moved from the West Bank to the Golan Heights. In January 2022, the leader of the group got in trouble because a 78-year-old person, Omar Assad, who was Palestinian American, died of a heart problem after being arrested and tied up. This information comes from the IDF. No soldiers were charged with a crime for Assad’s death.

Blinken wrote in the letter that the Israeli government has given new information about the unit’s status and they will work to find a way to fix the problem.

Patel didn’t say when the US got the new information. A source said that the Israelis told the US about things they did recently that they hadn’t talked about before. The US is now checking if those things are enough to stop aid from being limited.

Patel also did not explain exactly how they will fix the problem.

“The rule is that these countries must take strong action to make sure the responsible person is punished. ” “It varies from country to country,” he said during a press meeting.

  • At least 40 Palestinians killed by Israeli strikes in Gaza

At least 40 Palestinians killed by Israeli strikes in Gaza

Israeli bombings killed 40 Palestinians on Monday. More than half of the dead were in the southern Gaza city of Rafah where bombs hit three houses. Hamas leaders went to Cairo for more talks about bringing peace.

In Gaza City, in the north of the Gaza Strip, Israeli warplanes hit two houses. At least six people were killed and many others were injured, according to health officials.

At night, Israel bombed a house in Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza and three people, including a journalist, were killed. Hamas and medics reported this. Six more people died in other parts of central Gaza because of airstrikes from Israel.

Israel’s army said that two of its soldiers died in the middle of Gaza on Sunday.

The military part of the Hamas-related Islamic Jihad group shot rockets into Israel on Monday. This shows that the group can still shoot rockets even after Israel attacked them for almost seven months.

The bombings in Rafah happened just before a meeting in Egypt to talk about stopping the fighting between Israel and Hamas. Many people from Gaza have gone to Rafah to get away from the bombings.

When asked about the Rafah strikes, a spokesperson for the Israeli military said that fighter jets hit places where terrorists were in a civilian area in southern Gaza, but did not give more information.

“The IDF will keep stopping terrorist activities and keeping Israeli people safe by following the rules of international law,” the spokesperson said.

Families of those who died in Israeli attacks came to a hospital in Rafah to take the bodies home for burial. Women and men were sad as they said goodbye to their dead relatives who were wrapped in white and black coverings.

The strikes are causing the death of a young baby boy.

His name is Deif-Allah, which means “guest” in Arabic, and he truly was a guest. Abu Taha said, “Our baby boy finally came to visit us after 10 years. We missed him so much. ” Abu Taha held his baby boy’s body, which was wrapped in a white shroud.

Ten people died. This includes a mother, her daughter, her granddaughters, her grandson, her son-in-law, their daughters, and other relatives. “They’ve all left, all 10 of them. ”

On Monday, at a meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Sameh Shoukry, the Egyptian Foreign Minister, said that Egypt is hopeful about a plan for a cease-fire and the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip. But Egypt is still waiting for a response from Israel and Hamas about the plan.

“We hope that the proposal has considered the views of both sides and has tried to find a compromise. We are waiting for a final decision,” Shoukry said.

A Palestinian official involved in negotiations said to Reuters that things are looking better this time, but he didn’t say if a deal is about to happen.

Israel promised to destroy Hamas, which is in charge of Gaza. The military attack has killed 34,488 people and injured 77,643 in Gaza, according to health officials.

The war has made almost all of the 2. 3 million people leave their homes and destroyed much of the area.

The fighting started when Hamas fighters attacked Israel on October 7th. They killed 1,200 people and took 253 hostages, according to Israel.

Premature baby girl saved from the womb of her deceased mother dies in Gaza

A baby from Palestine was born too early because her mother died in a missile attack from Israel. Sadly, the baby has also passed away, according to her uncle.

Sabreen Jouda passed away in a Gaza hospital on Thursday because she got very sick and the doctors couldn’t help her, according to her uncle, Rami al-Sheikh.

Sabreen’s house in the southern Gaza city of Rafah was hit by a bomb from Israel just before midnight on Saturday. Her mom and dad and little sister, who is 4 years old, died.

The people who arrived at the scene first took the bodies to a nearby hospital. Doctors at the hospital did an emergency cesarean section on Sabreen al-Sakani, who was 30 weeks pregnant. The baby was in a special bed at another hospital until she passed away five days later.

Al-Sheikh told the Associated Press that Sabreen was laid to rest beside her father on Thursday.

“We really loved this baby a lot,” he said, talking close to Sabreen’s burial place in a cemetery in Rafah.

“Even though her family died, the baby survived. God took something away, but also gave something in return,” he said. “But now he has all of them. ” My brother’s whole family is gone. It’s no longer on the list of official records. “We can’t find any sign of him. ”

Over 34,000 Palestinians have died in the Israel-Hamas war. Local health officials say that about two-thirds of the dead are women and children. The health officials don’t separate between soldiers and ordinary people when they count.

Israel started a war with Hamas and used a strong air and ground attack in Gaza because of an attack by the militants in southern Israel on Oct 7th. The fighters killed around 1,200 people in Israel and kidnapped 250 others.

Over half of the 2. 3 million people in Gaza have gone to Rafah for safety. Israel has been going to Rafah a lot and getting ready for a possible attack in the city.

  • Texas police battle with students as protests against Gaza war continue

Texas police battle with students as protests against Gaza war continue

Police fought with student protesters in Texas and California. More protests are happening at Harvard and other colleges as school leaders try to stop the growing pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

At the University of Texas at Austin, many police officers from the area and the state fought with protesters, making them leave the campus and even pushing some into the street. Some police officers were on horses and carrying batons. University officials and the Texas Governor asked for at least 20 demonstrators to be arrested and held in custody. Greg Abbott, as per the state Department of Public Safety.

A photographer for Fox 7 Austin was arrested at a protest after getting caught in a struggle between police and students. A well-known journalist from Texas was pushed down in the chaos and was bleeding. Police had to help him to get to the hospital where his head was bandaged up.

At the University of Southern California, police and protesters pulled on tents in a back-and-forth way. The police took away some tents but then stopped. In the northern part of California, students at California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt, were stuck inside a building for three days. The school closed the campus for the weekend and made classes online.

Harvard University in Massachusetts wanted to avoid protests this week by making it harder for people to go into Harvard Yard and needing permission for tents and tables. Protesters set up a camp with 14 tents after a rally against the university’s suspension of the Harvard Undergraduate Palestine Solidarity Committee.

Students are asking schools to stop doing business with Israel and companies that are involved in the war between Israel and Hamas. Many people have been arrested for going into places they weren’t supposed to or for causing problems in public. Some Jewish students feel that the protests have turned into hating Jewish people and are scared to go to campus.

Columbia University stopped another fight between students and police earlier today. Things were still tense there. The school officials will keep talking to the protesters for another 48 hours.

During a visit to the campus, US House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, asked Columbia University President Minouche Shafik to step down if she can’t bring order to the chaos.

“He said that if the threats and intimidation are not stopped soon, the National Guard might need to step in. ”

Shafik wanted to reach an agreement by midnight on Tuesday to clear a camp, but the school kept talking and making progress, so they didn’t make a decision yet.

On Wednesday night, a Columbia spokesperson said that the rumors about the university threatening to bring in the National Guard were not true. Ben Chang, who is the vice president for communications at Columbia, said that our main goal is to bring back peace and if we can achieve that by talking, we will try.

Columbia student Omer Lubaton Granot put up pictures of Israeli hostages near the camp because he wanted to remind people that over 100 hostages are still being held by Hamas.

“I see everyone behind me supporting human rights,” he said. “I don’t think they have anything to say about the fact that people their age, who were kidnapped from their homes or from a music festival in Israel, are being held by a terror group. ”

Tala Alfoqaha, a student at Harvard Law, and other protestors want the university to be more open about their actions.

“I hope that the people in charge at Harvard University pay attention to what the students have been asking for all year, which is to stop investing in certain things, to be more open about their finances, and to not punish students for anything. ” said a student.

Last week, the police tried to remove the camp at Columbia. They arrested over 100 protesters. The plan didn’t work and instead it inspired other students to do the same thing. It also motivated protesters at Columbia to come together again.

On Wednesday, there were about 60 tents left at the Columbia camp, and everything seemed peaceful. There were a lot of security measures in place at the campus, like needing to show ID and police putting up metal fences.

Columbia agreed with the protest leaders that only students can stay at the camp. They also agreed to make it a friendly place and not allow mean or hurtful words.

A group of students gathered on the University of Minnesota campus to protest, after police arrested nine protesters who were camping outside the library. The United States Rep. Rewrite this text in simple words: Representative. Ilhan Omar, whose daughter was one of the people taken away by the police at Columbia last week, went to a protest later on the same day.

More than 80 professors and assistant professors wrote a letter on Wednesday asking the university’s president and other leaders to not punish anyone and to let people camp without being bothered by the police.

They said they were shocked that the school would allow students to speak out against genocide and the occupation of Palestine.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the protests supporting Palestine on American college campuses. He released a video statement on Wednesday, saying that the university presidents’ reactions were shameful. He called on state, local, and federal officials to get involved.

Some students at the protests were hiding their faces and didn’t want to tell reporters who they were, because they were afraid of facing consequences. At a camp with about 40 tents on the University of Michigan’s campus in Ann Arbor, almost every student had a mask that was given to them when they arrived.

The many protests have made it hard for universities to keep students safe while also respecting their right to speak freely. Many people allowed the protests to continue for a long time, but now they are giving out stricter punishments because they are worried about safety.

This week at New York University, police arrested 133 protestors for causing trouble. They have all been released but have to go to court for their charges. Police took more than 40 protesters into custody on Monday at a camp at Yale University.

  • UN calls for investigation into mass graves in Gaza hospitals raided by Israel

UN calls for investigation into mass graves in Gaza hospitals raided by Israel

The United Nations wants a thorough investigation of mass graves found at hospitals in Gaza. Israeli troops went into the hospitals.

Reliable detectives need to be able to go to the places, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters. He also said that more reporters should be able to work safely in Gaza to tell the truth.

Earlier today, the head of UN human rights, Volker Türk, said he was very upset by the destruction of the Shifa medical center in Gaza City and Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. He also heard about mass graves being found near these places after the Israelis left.

He asked for fair and clear investigations into the deaths. He said that because of the current culture of getting away with bad things, the investigations should involve people from other countries.

“Hospitals are given extra special protection under the law of war,” Türk said. “Killing innocent people, prisoners, and those who can’t fight back is a serious crime in war. ”

The US State Department spokesman, Vedant Patel, said that the reports of mass graves at the hospitals are really worrying. US officials have asked the Israeli government for more information.

The Israeli army dug up bodies that Palestinians had buried to find the remains of the hostages taken by Hamas during the attack that started the war. The military checked the bodies with respect and gave back the ones that were not from Israeli hostages.

The Israeli military says it attacked and caught many militants who were hiding in two hospital buildings, but this has not been confirmed by others.

The Palestinian civil defense in Gaza found 283 bodies buried in a temporary graveyard at the main hospital in Khan Younis. It was built when Israeli forces surrounded the hospital last month. At that time, people couldn’t bury their dead in a cemetery so they dug graves in the hospital yard instead, according to the group.

The civil defense said that some of the bodies were of people who were killed during the attack on the hospital. Israeli forces went into the hospital and some people were killed.

Palestinian health officials say that the attacks on hospitals have greatly damaged Gaza’s healthcare system, which is already struggling to handle the increasing number of casualties from the six-month long war.

The question of who should do an investigation is still not clear.

Dujarric said that in order for the United Nations to do an investigation, one of its big groups would have to give permission for it.

“I don’t think anyone should judge the results or who did it,” he said. “I believe there should be a thorough investigation with access and credibility. ”

The leader of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, stated that it is very important to investigate possible crimes committed by Hamas and Israeli forces. He visited Israel and the West Bank in December.

“We found the graves, so we really need to stop fighting and find a way to end this conflict. We also need more help for people who need it, like medicine and food, and we need to make sure hospitals are safe. And we need to free the Israeli hostages,” Dujarric said on Monday.

During the war started by the Hamas attack, about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were killed and around 250 hostages were taken. Israel says that the militants are still keeping about 100 people as hostages and the bodies of over 30 others.

In reply, Israel attacked Gaza to stop Hamas and has killed more than 34,000 Palestinians, most of them being children and women, as reported by local health officials. It has destroyed two big cities in Gaza, causing a crisis for people. About 80% of the population have left to go to other places in the enclave.

Students in US intensify rallies against Gaza War nationwide

Last week, Columbia University students started a protest against Israel’s war with Hamas. By Tuesday, students from other universities were also joining in by setting up camps, taking over buildings, and not listening to requests to stop.

Protests had been happening for a few months, but got more intense after over 100 people supporting Palestine were arrested at Columbia University’s upper Manhattan campus on Thursday. Many more protesters were arrested at other schools, and now they may be charged with going into a place illegally or behaving in a disruptive way.

Because students are scared to go to Columbia, the school will do a mix of in-person and online classes for the rest of the semester. This will finish by the end of next week.

Police at the nearby New York University arrested 133 protesters on Monday. They were all released with a ticket to go to court for being disruptive. New York City Mayor Eric Adams said that police officers were hit with bottles and other things during protests this week.

In Connecticut, the police arrested 60 people who were protesting, including 47 students, at Yale University. They were taken into custody because they didn’t want to leave a area in the middle of the campus.

Yale President Peter Salovey said the protesters did not accept an offer to stop their demonstration and talk with the trustees. School officials gave a lot of warnings, then decided that the situation wasn’t safe. The police then removed the camp and arrested people.

In the Midwest, on Tuesday, there were protests at the University of Michigan and the University of Minnesota. Nearly 40 tents were set up at the University of Michigan and nine people were arrested at the University of Minnesota. Hundreds of people gathered at the Minnesota campus in the afternoon to ask for their release.

Cal Poly Humboldt on the West Coast of California will be closed until Wednesday because protesters took over a building on Monday night. Three people were taken by the police because they were protesting. The school said on its website that classes will be taught online.

Since the fighting in Gaza started, colleges and universities have had a hard time keeping students safe while also allowing them to express their opinions freely. A lot of protests that used to be allowed are now getting harsher punishments.

Harvard University in Massachusetts has closed most gates to its Harvard Yard and is only allowing people with school ID to enter, in order to avoid protests. The school put up signs that say you need permission to set up tents or tables on campus.

Christian Deleon, a Literature Ph. D student, said he knows why Harvard doesn’t want protests, but students should still be able to share their opinions.

“He said we should all be able to use these places to protest and speak out. ”

Ben Wizner, a lawyer from the American Civil Liberties Union, said that college leaders have to make very difficult choices because they are responsible for making sure that people can share their opinions, even if others don’t like them.

“He said they also need to keep students safe from being harassed, threatened, or intimidated. ” “Sometimes it’s hard to tell where the line is. ”

The New York Civil Liberties Union warned colleges not to rush to involve the police, in a statement on Tuesday.

Donna Lieberman, the head of the group, said that officials should not mix up criticizing Israel with hating Jewish people, or use hate incidents as an excuse to stop people from expressing their political views.

Leo Auerbach, a University of Michigan student, said that the different opinions about the war didn’t make him feel in danger on campus. However, he’s afraid of the “hurtful language and anti-Jewish feelings” that some people are expressing.

“Auerbach said that in order to make everyone feel like they belong on campus, different groups need to talk to each other in a helpful way. ” “And currently, no one is talking. ”

Hannah Didehbani, a senior studying physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said that the protesters were motivated by the ones at Columbia University.

“Currently, some professors at the campus are receiving money directly from Israel’s ministry of defence for their research,” she said. “We have been asking MIT to stop working with that research. ”

Protesters at the University of California, Berkeley, were inspired by the demonstrators at Columbia University. They had about 30 tents set up on Tuesday. Law student Malak Afaneh said the Columbia demonstrators are the leaders of the student movement.

Columbia’s President Minouche Shafik said she felt very sad about what’s happening on campus. Some Jewish students feel that criticism of Israel has turned into antisemitism.

US House Speaker Mike Johnson is going to visit Jewish students at the university on Wednesday. He will also talk about how to stop hate against Jewish people at college campuses during a press conference.

Columbia has a long history of protests. In 1968, many students were mad about racism and the Vietnam War, so they took over five buildings on campus. A thousand police officers came and removed them after a week, taking 700 people into custody. The news said that 100 students and 15 police officers got hurt.

Protests started on the campus after Hamas attacked southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people, most of them were civilians, and holding around 250 people hostage. In the war, Israel has killed over 34,000 people in the Gaza Strip. The local health ministry says that at least two-thirds of those killed are children and women, but they don’t separate combatants and noncombatants.

Tent compound expands in southern Gaza as Israel prepares for Rafah offensive

According to The Associated Press, new tents are being built near Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The Israeli military is getting ready for an attack on the city of Rafah.

Khan Younis has been attacked by the Israeli military many times in the past few weeks. Israel is going to move people out of Rafah because they think there will be fighting in the city. Many people have gone to Rafah for safety during the war, which has been going on for seven months. The army said they didn’t help build the tents.

On Monday, there was a rocket attack on a US-led base in Syria. This was the first time in a while that Iranian-backed groups have attacked a US base in Iraq or Syria, according to a US defense official. No one got hurt in the attack, and no one has said they did it.

The fighting has caused trouble in the area, with Israel and the US fighting against Iran and its supporter fighters in the Middle East. Israel and Iran have been shooting at each other and people are worried that they might start a big war.

The war started because on October 7, Hamas and other militants attacked southern Israel, and killed about 1,200 people, mostly innocent people, and took about 250 hostages. Israel says there are still about 100 people being held by militants and the bodies of over 30 others.

The fighting between Israel and Hamas has caused the deaths of over 34,000 Palestinians, with about two-thirds of them being children and women, according to local health officials. It has caused a lot of damage in the two biggest cities in Gaza and left a wide area of destruction. About 80% of the people in the area have left to go to other places.

The US House of Representatives passed a $26 billion aid package for Gaza and Israel. It includes $9 billion to help Gaza, which could be in danger of not having enough food, and money for Israel. The US Senate might approve the package on Tuesday, and US President Joe Biden said he will sign it right away.

    Hezbollah attacks Israeli military camp.

Hezbollah, a group from Lebanon, said on Tuesday that it attacked an Israeli base near Acre. This is farther south than where they usually attack. They did this because Israel had bombed and killed one of their officials.

The Israeli military said they killed Hussein Ali Azqul in an airstrike in south Lebanon. They called him an important member of Hezbollah’s aerial defense unit. Hezbollah said in a statement that Azqul has been killed.

Official news and people who saw it happen said the attack happened in a place called Adloun, which is between the cities of Sidon and Tyre on the coast. It’s about 40 kilometers (25 miles) north of the border with Israel.

Hezbollah and other groups from Lebanon have been fighting with Israeli soldiers along the border for over six months while Israel is also fighting with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Israel often kills specific members of Hezbollah and Hamas in Lebanon, even in far away places.

Hezbollah said they launched the attack because Israel attacked the town of Adloun and killed Azqul. The attack hit a place about 15 kilometers (9 miles) from the border and was the farthest it had been launched since the war started.

The Israeli military stopped two suspicious flying objects over the northern coast.

  • At least 9 Palestinians killed by Israeli airstrike near Rafah, in southern Gaza

At least 9 Palestinians killed by Israeli airstrike near Rafah, in southern Gaza

The Israeli military bombed a house in the city of Rafah in Gaza, killing at least nine people, including six children. Israel has been attacking Gaza for almost seven months.

The fighting between Israel and the militant group Hamas has made the Middle East more tense, especially between Israel and Iran. Now all eyes are on Rafah, a place where more than half of Gaza’s 2. 3 million people live. Many of them had to leave their homes because of the fighting in other parts of Gaza.

The attack on Friday hit the Tel Sultan neighborhood in Rafah, according to Gaza’s civil defense. At al-Najjar hospital, where dead bodies are kept, family members cried and hugged the bodies of children covered in white cloth. “Hamza my dear. ” The grandma said, “Your hair looks very nice. ”

Abdel-Fattah Sobhi Radwan, his wife Najlaa Ahmed Aweidah, and their three kids died, according to his brother-in-law Ahmed Barhoum. Barhoum’s wife, Rawan Radwan, and their five-year-old daughter, Alaa, died.

Barhoum told The Associated Press that this world doesn’t have good values and morals. He was crying as he gently rocked Alaa’s body. “They attacked a house where people who had to leave their homes lived, including women and children. ” Only women and children died as martyrs.

Israel has been saying for a long time that it will send its soldiers into Rafah, to go after the Hamas fighters who are still there. But other countries, including the United States, have asked Israel to be careful and not use too much force.

Some people from Rafah near the border with Egypt left their homes after being told to by the Israeli army. “Hey, they’re going to attack at 3:40. ” It is happening. It is going on. “Can you tell me the time. ” someone askedA few minutes later, there was a strike. It was not clear if anyone died right away.

On Saturday, an Israeli airstrike hit a house in a refugee camp in central Gaza. At least one man was killed and two others were injured. This information was given by authorities at the al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in Deir al-Balah, where an AP journalist saw the casualties.

The war started on Oct 7 when Hamas and other militant groups attacked southern Israel. About 1,200 people, mostly civilians, died and around 250 were kidnapped and taken to Gaza. Israel says that there are still around 130 people being held in Gaza, even though more than 30 have been killed.

At least 34,049 Palestinians have died and 76,901 have been injured in the war. In the last 24 hours, 37 bodies of people killed by Israeli attacks were taken to hospitals. The health authorities in charge of Hamas don’t separate between fighters and regular people when counting the casualties. They say that at least two-thirds of the casualties are children and women.

Israel says that Hamas is responsible for the deaths of innocent people, because it hides among civilians.

The war has made tensions between neighboring regions get worse and worse. On Friday, Israel and Iran, who are enemies, downplayed a possible Israeli attack near a big air base and nuclear site in central Iran. This shows they were stepping back from a potential full-scale war. Last week, Iran shot a lot of missiles at Israel because they were angry that Israel had allegedly killed two Iranian generals in Syria.

Israel is still fighting with groups supported by Iran. They often shoot rockets and fly drones back and forth over the border between Lebanon and Israel. This is with a group called Hezbollah, which is supported by Iran. Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who are supported by Iran, have attacked merchant ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden to show support for Palestinians in Gaza.

There is also a lot of tension in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that 12 people were found dead on Saturday in a refugee camp, bringing the total number of deaths to 13 since the Israeli military operation started on Thursday night. It means they were killed because the occupation attacked them.

The Islamic Jihad group said that three of their members have died. Another person who got killed was a 15-year-old boy. The Israeli army reported that its soldiers killed 10 fighters in the camp and nearby areas, and also arrested eight suspects. Nine soldiers and officers were hurt, the report stated.

Since October, Israeli forces have killed at least 469 Palestinians from east Jerusalem and the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

In another part of the West Bank, the ministry reported that an ambulance driver was killed near Sawiya town while trying to help Palestinians who were hurt in fights with Israeli settlers. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that Mohammed Musa got shot in the chest. A bunch of settlers started attacking people a week ago because an Israeli teenager went missing and was found dead.

  • Israeli strike destroys thousands of frozen IVF embryos in Gaza

Israeli strike destroys thousands of frozen IVF embryos in Gaza

In December, a shell from Israel hit a big clinic in Gaza following an explosion that knocked the lids off five tanks holding liquid nitrogen in the corner of the unit that deals with making babies.

As the extremely cold liquid turned into gas, the temperature in the tanks went up and ruined over 4,000 embryos, as well as 1,000 sperm and unfertilized eggs stored at Al Basma IVF center in Gaza City.

The explosion had a big effect and showed how much the 2.3 million people in Gaza have been hurt by Israel’s six-and-a-half-month attack.

The tiny babies in the tanks were the only chance for many Palestinian couples who couldn’t have children.

“We understand how important these 5,000 lives were to their parents, whether it was for their future or their past,” said Bahaeldeen Ghalayini, 73. He is a doctor who trained at Cambridge and set up the clinic in 1997.

At least half of the couples who can’t make babies anymore won’t have another chance to have a baby, he said.

“My heart is broken into so many pieces,” he said.

Reuters asked the Israeli military about the incident on Wednesday, and they said they are checking the reports. Israel says they did not mean to damage civilian buildings and accused Hamas of using hospitals for fighting, but Hamas disagrees.

Seba Jaafarawi went through three years of fertility treatment, and it was really tough on her emotions. Getting her eggs taken out of her ovaries hurt a lot, the hormone shots made her feel really sick, and it was really hard to handle the sadness when she couldn’t get pregnant two times.

Jaafarawi, who is 32 years old, and her husband couldn’t have a baby on their own. They decided to try in vitro fertilization (IVF), a method to help people have babies, that is easily found in Gaza.

Many families in the enclave are big, with almost half the people being under 18 years old. The fertility rate is high at 3. 38 births per woman, as reported by the Palestinian Bureau of Statistics. The average number of babies a woman has in Britain is 1. 63

Even though many people in Gaza are poor, some couples who can’t have a baby on their own are trying IVF. They are even selling their TVs and jewelry to pay for the treatment, according to Al Ghalayini.
No time for partying or enjoying.

At least nine hospitals in Gaza helped women have babies using IVF. They collect eggs from the woman and fertilize them with sperm in a lab. The fertilized eggs, called embryos, are usually frozen and stored until they are ready to be put into a woman’s uterus at the best time. Many frozen embryos in Gaza were kept at the Al Basma centre.

In September, Jaafarawi got pregnant for the first time with the help of IVF.

“I didn’t even have time to party when I heard the news,” she said.

Hamas attacked on the Oct, just two days before her ultrasound appointment. Seven attacks happened in Israel, and 1,200 people were killed. Also, 253 people were taken hostage, as per Israeli records.

Israel promised to defeat Hamas and started a big attack that has killed over 33,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza health officials.

Jaafarawi was concerned about how she would go through her pregnancy. She was worried about what would happen to her and to the babies growing inside her womb.

Her ultrasound appointment was cancelled and Ghalayini shut down his clinic, where five more of Jaafarawi’s embryos were kept.

As the Israeli attacks got worse, Mohammed Ajjour, the main scientist at Al Basma, began to worry about running out of liquid nitrogen for the five specimen tanks. Every month, the tanks need to be filled up to keep the temperature below -180C. They don’t use electricity to work.

After the war started, Ajjour got one delivery of liquid nitrogen. But Israel stopped the electricity and fuel to Gaza, and many suppliers closed.

In late October, Israeli tanks went into Gaza, and soldiers surrounded the streets near the IVF center. It became too unsafe for Ajjour to inspect the tanks.

Jaafarawi needed to rest to keep her pregnancy safe, but it was hard because there were dangers everywhere. She had to climb six flights of stairs to her apartment because the elevator wasn’t working. A bomb destroyed the building next door and broke the windows in her flat. It was also difficult to find enough food and water.

Instead of taking a break, she felt anxious.

“I was really scared and it seemed like I might lose the baby,” she said.

Jaafarawi had a small amount of blood come out of her body after she and her husband left their home and moved to the southern town of Khan Younis. The bleeding stopped, but she was still very scared.
    ‘5,000 people in one place’

But a few days later, she had strong stomach pains, bleeding, and her belly felt different. She got to the hospital, but she was already having a miscarriage.

“I can still hear the sounds of me crying and screaming at the hospital,” she said.

She said only people who have gone through IVF really know how difficult it is, no matter what I imagine or tell you.

Jaafarawi wanted to go back to the place where there is fighting, get her frozen embryos and try to get pregnant again using IVF.

Ghalayini said that one shell from Israel hit the corner of the center and exploded the ground-floor embryology lab. He doesn’t know if the attack was aimed at the lab or not.

“He said 5,000 lives were lost from one bomb. ”

In April, the embryology lab was still a mess with broken walls, damaged lab equipment, and liquid nitrogen tanks scattered among the rubble. This information was gathered by a journalist hired by Reuters who went to the lab.

The covers were off and you could still see a basket at the bottom of one of the tanks. The basket was full of small straws of different colors with damaged tiny embryos inside.

Germany denies encouraging acts of genocide in Gaza

On Tuesday, Germany said no to a case brought by Nicaragua at the United Nations’ top court. Nicaragua accused Germany of helping Israel in its attack on Gaza, which goes against international laws. Germany denied these accusations.

Christian Tams, a member of Germany’s legal team, told the 16-judge panel at the International Court of Justice that when they examine the evidence closely, Nicaragua’s accusations don’t hold up.

On Monday, Nicaragua asked judges to stop Germany from giving military help to Israel. They said that Germany’s support allows genocide and breaks international humanitarian laws in Gaza.

Germany’s legal team leader, Tania von Uslar-Gleichen, said Nicaragua’s claims are not true in fact or law. “They need to wait for Israel to give their opinion, even though Israel is not involved in this case. ”

On Monday and Tuesday, there were initial hearings about Nicaragua’s request for temporary actions. They want a court order for Berlin to stop giving military support to Israel and give money again to the UN aid agency in Gaza.

Germany’s representative, Von Uslar-Gleichen, asked the judges not to make any quick decisions and to reject Nicaragua’s case.

Tams stated that Germany had only allowed four weapon exports to Israel since October, and three of them were for test or practice equipment.

Tams showed judges a picture of German help being dropped by airplane to Gaza. He said that Germany keeps giving help to Palestinians every day, even when it’s very tough, and works with other countries to help.

Nicaragua is the most recent country trying to stop Israel’s attack. South Africa also went to court last year accusing Israel of causing a lot of harm. This is happening as more and more people are asking other countries to stop giving weapons to Israel, and some of Israel’s friends, like Germany, are starting to criticize the war.

During Monday’s meetings, Nicaragua’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Carlos José Argüello Gómez, said that Germany did not do enough to stop genocide or follow international humanitarian laws.

But another lawyer from Germany, Samuel Wordsworth, said that the court cannot say Germany is not stopping genocide because it hasn’t said Israel is breaking the rules.

In the early stage of the case that South Africa brought last year, the UN court said that it is possible that Israel’s actions in Gaza might break the convention.

Wordsworth asked, “How can we say there was a failure to respect a third state, if we haven’t proven that the third state didn’t respect in the first place. ”

The court will probably take a few weeks to make its first decision, and Nicaragua’s case is probably going to last for many years.

Israel says it’s not trying to commit genocide and is only defending itself after militants from Hamas attacked southern Israel in October. 7 battles resulted in the deaths of around 1,200 people.

Since then, over 33,000 Palestinians have died in Gaza, according to the territory’s Health Ministry. It doesn’t matter if they are civilians or fighters, but most of the people who have been killed are women and children.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute says that Germany is second after the US in giving weapons to Israel. It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to bring the US to court because Washington does not accept the ICJ’s authority to make countries go to court. The US has not agreed to a rule that lets countries bring arguments to the court about genocide.

  • Dozens of Israeli forces pulledout from southern Gaza

Dozens of Israeli forces pulledout from southern Gaza

Israel’s army said on Sunday that they have taken their soldiers out of the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis. This is an important part of their mission against the Hamas group. Now, they have fewer soldiers in Gaza than they did before.

Defence officials said soldiers were getting ready to move into the last place controlled by Hamas, called Rafah. “The fighting in Gaza is still going on, and we are a long way from ending it,” said the military leader, Lt. Write in simple words: Gen. Herzi Halevi is an Israeli general.

Channel 13 TV said that Israel will start moving people out of Rafah in a week and it could take a few months.

Nevertheless, the withdrawal was an important event as Israel and Hamas reached six months of fighting. Military officials, who want to keep their names secret, said a big group of soldiers is still in Gaza to do planned operations, including in a place called Khan Younis where the leader of Hamas, Yehya Sinwar, is from.

A video in Khan Younis showed people going back to a place with broken tall buildings and climbing over wreckage. Cars were flipped upside down and burned. The main hospital in Southern Gaza, called Nasser, was in very bad condition.

Ahmad Abu al-Rish said sadly, “It’s all just broken pieces. ” “Animals can’t survive here, so how can a person. ”

Israel has promised to send soldiers to fight in Rafah soon. But there are 1. 4 million people living in the city, which is more than half of the population of Gaza. The idea of an attack has made the whole world worried, even Israel’s closest friend, the US, wants to see a good plan to keep civilians safe. Letting people go back to Khan Younis might help ease some stress on Rafah.

John Kirby, who speaks for national security at the White House, said again on Sunday that the US doesn’t support an attack on Rafah. He told ABC that the US thinks the Israeli soldiers leaving Rafah is just a break for them to rest and get ready to go back, and not a sign that they are planning a new attack.

Israel’s military withdrew some of its troops from the badly damaged northern Gaza during the war, without making much noise about it. It keeps doing airstrikes and attacks in places where it thinks Hamas is back, like Gaza’s biggest hospital, Shifa. The head of the World Health Organization said the hospital is now empty and destroyed.

After six months, many people in Israel are feeling more and more upset. There are big protests against the government and people are getting angrier because they think the government is not doing enough to free around 130 hostages. The government says that about a quarter of the hostages have died. Hamas fighters took around 250 people captive when they went from Gaza to Israel on October 7 and caused the deaths of 1,200 people, mostly innocent civilians.

Thousands of people protested outside the Knesset in Jerusalem, demanding that the government make a deal to free hostages. The protest was organized by the families of the hostages. In the south part of Israel, sad family members came together at a music festival where over 300 people died on October. Reworking the sentence would allow me to comprehend it better, so I could try to help you further if you provide more information.

“We cannot believe this is real and the people in Gaza and our country also cannot believe it’s real. ” “We just want to stay alive,” said a person named Talia Ezrahi who was protesting.

Another protester, Michal Fruchtman, said she would agree to anything in order to bring back the hostages and stop the mass killings in Gaza.

Talks were supposed to start again on Sunday in Cairo to try to make a deal to stop fighting in exchange for letting the hostages go. An Israeli group, led by the head of the Mossad intelligence agency, was going to Cairo, as told by an Israeli official who wanted to keep their identity a secret. They were not allowed to talk about it with the media.

There was a lot of pressure to take action right away.

“This doesn’t look like a war against terror. ” This no longer looks like a war to protect Israel. Chef Jose Andres said it seems like a war against humanity. Seven of his colleagues were killed in Gaza. Help deliveries to the area were stopped on a very important new path by the sea.

“Gaza has been left alone by most of humanity,” according to a statement from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The UN and other groups are saying that a lot of people in Gaza will soon not have enough food. They want Israel to allow more aid to be brought in by land so that people can get the food they need. Some Palestinians are even looking for plants to eat because there isn’t enough food. Many trucks full of help have been stuck outside Gaza, waiting to go in.

“People are slowly dying because they are not getting enough food and water. This has been happening for the last six months,” said Avril Benoit, the head of Doctors Without Borders USA, in an interview with CBS.

Mothers who have had babies in Gaza since the war began are at high risk.

The Gaza Health Ministry reported that 38 people who were killed in Israel’s bombing were brought to the hospitals in the last day. It was reported that 33,175 people have died since the war started. It doesn’t tell the difference between regular people and fighters, but it says that two-thirds of the people who died are children and women.

Israel’s army kept losing soldiers, including four who died in Khan Younis. More than 600 Israeli soldiers died since October. 7, as per the government of Israel.

Worries about a bigger fight in the area kept going as a high-ranking Iranian military adviser cautioned Israel that none of its embassies were secure after a strike in Damascus last week – said to be done by Israel – that killed two important Iranian generals and destroyed an Iranian consular building. Israel has not admitted to being involved.

“No Israeli embassies are safe anymore,” General said. Rahim Safavi, a military advisor to Iran’s top leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was quoted by the semi-official Tasnim agency.

  • Israel discovers body of hostage killed in Gaza as ceasefire negotiations continue

Israel discovers body of hostage killed in Gaza as ceasefire negotiations continue

Israel’s army said on Saturday that they found the body of a 47-year-old farmer who was kept captive in Gaza. Negotiators are getting ready to start talking again to try to make a truce and free the other hostages. This has been going on for six months since the war started.

Israel’s military found the body of Elad Katzir and thinks he was killed by fighters from Islamic Jihad, one of the groups that came into southern Israel in October. 7 attacks, killed over 1,200 people, and held about 250 people as hostages. Katzir was taken from Nir Oz, a community near the border that was hit hard.

The finding put more pressure on Israel’s government to make a deal and free the rest of the hostages. Families are worried that time is running out. At least 36 people who were held as captives have been confirmed to have died. About half of the original number of hostages have been set free.

“If a deal had happened in time, he could have been saved,” said Katzir’s sister Carmit in a statement. “Our leader is afraid and only thinks about politics, that’s why (a deal) didn’t happen. ”

Some Israelis disagree with the way Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government are handling the ceasefire negotiations, which have not been successful so far. Last week, many Israelis gathered in central Jerusalem for a big protest against the government, which was the largest protest since the war started.

In Gaza, many people have been killed and over a million Palestinians have been forced from their homes because of Israel’s attack.

“We have reached a really bad point,” said Martin Griffiths, the head of UN humanitarian. “It’s been six months and there might be a terrible famine soon. The situation in Gaza getting worse is not acceptable. ”

The talks to stop fighting will start again on Sunday, as per an Egyptian official and Egypt’s state-owned Al Qahera TV. The official spoke without giving their name because they were not allowed to talk about the negotiations in public.

The US President Joe Biden has asked CIA Director Bill Burns to go to Egypt and have more discussions about the people who are being held captive, stopping the fighting, and making sure the border between Egypt and Gaza is safe.

A group from Hamas will come on Sunday to join the talks, said the militant group.

Hamas says they won’t agree to end the war in stages unless hostages are released. It said it will release 40 people as part of a 6-week ceasefire deal, and also release Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails. Hamas wants the people who had to leave their homes in northern Gaza to come back, and they want more help. Israel said they would let 2,000 people come back each day for six weeks, but only women, children, and older people.

Israel said they will let 2,000 Palestinian people, mostly women, children, and older people, move to the north each day for six weeks.

The discussions happened a few days after people all around the world criticized Israel for bombing and killing seven people who were working to help others with a charity called World Central Kitchen. The Israeli military said they made a mistake with the strike and it’s sad. Aid groups say that this mistake is not unusual.

Some of Israel’s friends are thinking about stopping selling weapons. Biden told Netanyahu that the US will only keep supporting the war if they take quick action to protect civilians and aid workers.

“Marika Guderian from the World Food Program said we need to be sure we’ll be safe while we help people in Gaza. ”

The violence stopped help from being brought by ship to Gaza, which was an important new way to bring food and supplies. The UN and its partners are worried that there could be a severe lack of food.

In Jabaliya, a place where people who had to leave their homes live near Gaza City, families looked for mallow leaves to make a light soup to have when they finish fasting for Ramadan every day. Life is very unhappy. My daughters tell me, “Dad, you keep giving us mallow to eat every day. ” We want to have fish, chicken, and canned food for our meal. Wael Attar, who is staying in a school with 1. 7 million other people who had to leave their homes in Gaza, said, “We really want some eggs, or anything to eat. ” The Health Ministry in Gaza said that 33,137 people have died in the war. The toll doesn’t care if people are civilians or soldiers. But it has said that most of the dead are women and children.

The ministry said 46 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes and their bodies were brought to hospitals in the past day. This is the lowest number of deaths in months.

Israel says that Hamas is responsible for the deaths of civilians in Gaza. They say that Hamas is working in areas where civilians live and in places like hospitals.

The UN said it was able to get into Gaza’s biggest hospital, Shifa, after an Israeli attack, and the head of the World Health Organization called it “completely destroyed” with most of the buildings ruined. The WHO found many shallow graves and bodies that were only partly buried outside the emergency department after the Israeli siege.

The hospital in southern Gaza, Nasser, was destroyed and it has made the already struggling health system even worse, according to the WHO.

The city of Rafah in Gaza has more than half of the area’s 2. 3Israel has promised to launch a ground attack there, causing fear and warnings even from the United States.

  • Two Israeli military officers fired for using drones to kill relief workers in Gaza

Two Israeli military officers fired for using drones to kill relief workers in Gaza

The Israeli military has fired two officers and gave warnings to three others for their part in drone attacks in Gaza that killed seven aid workers. The military said they mishandled important information and broke the rules.

The investigation by a retired general found that Israel was embarrassed to admit that it is not doing enough to protect civilians in Gaza from its conflict with Hamas. The US and other important allies are accusing Israel of not taking proper steps to safeguard the people in Gaza.

The results will probably make people doubt the choices made by the Israeli military. Palestinians, aid groups, and human rights organizations keep saying that Israeli forces shoot at civilians without being careful, but Israel says this is not true.

“It’s a very sad event,” said the military’s spokesperson, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari spoke to the reporters. “We are responsible for a serious event that should not have happened, and we will make sure it doesn’t happen again. ”

Israel is being told to take responsibility for what it did. Hagari and other officials told reporters the results of the military’s investigation on Thursday night.

It’s not certain if the punishments and apology will make people feel better about the workers who died, or make aid groups feel safe to come back to Gaza, where many people don’t have enough to eat.

According to what the people who speak for the Israeli army said, targets have to be seen as dangers for many reasons before they can be attacked. But the investigation found out that a colonel gave permission for several drone attacks on the group of vehicles because a major saw, in blurry footage from a drone camera, that someone in the group had a weapon. The military officials said that the observation was not true.

The army said the colonel and the major were fired, and three other officers were told they did something wrong. It said the investigation results were given to the military’s advocate general. The advocate general will decide if the officers and others involved in the killings should get more punishment or be prosecuted.

Israel’s friends were very upset about the killings and they criticized Israel for how they have been acting in the war with Hamas, which has been going on for almost six months.

The aid workers were five people from different countries who worked for a charity called World Central Kitchen, which was started by a famous chef named José Andrés. The driver from Palestine was also killed.

  • 106 people killed in Israeli attack on building in Gaza – Human rights group

106 people killed in Israeli attack on building in Gaza – Human rights group

A recent report found that an Israeli attack in Gaza in October killed 106 civilians, including 54 children. The investigation did not find any evidence that the building targeted was used by militants, making the attack seem like a war crime.

International rules say that it’s not allowed to attack military places if it will probably hurt a lot of innocent people. The 31 attack was one of the worst since the war began about six months ago.

Human Rights Watch reported that four different airstrikes destroyed a building in central Gaza where about 350 people were living. Around one-third of these people had left their homes in other parts of the territory.

The people who died were children playing soccer outside and others were charging their phones in the grocery store on the first floor.

The group says that 34 women, 18 men, and 54 children were killed in the attack. They checked their list with a group in London to make sure it was correct. The people who died were from 22 different families. The Abu Said family lost 23 of their family members in the attack.

The news reported that four brothers and sisters, including 18-month-old twins, were killed in the attack in October.

“They didn’t have enough time here,” said Sami Abu Sultan, their uncle, one day after the building was destroyed. “It was what God wanted. ”

Human Rights Watch collected information for the report by talking to 16 people, including family members of those who died in the attack. They also looked at satellite pictures, 35 photos and 45 videos of what happened afterwards. I couldn’t go to the site because Israel doesn’t allow people to easily enter Gaza.

People who saw the attack told the organization that there was no warning before it happened. Human Rights Watch says Israel has not given any information about the supposed target and did not answer their requests for information.

The Israeli military did not reply right away when the Associated Press asked for a comment on Thursday.

Israel says it tries not to hurt innocent people and says it’s Hamas’ fault that civilians are dying because Hamas operates in crowded neighborhoods. The military doesn’t often talk about specific attacks that kill many people, including women and children, every day.

Israel is getting more and more criticism from other countries because it killed seven aid workers in recent attacks. Israel has been attacking Gaza very strongly and has killed more than 33,000 Palestinians, says the Gaza Health Ministry. This has been happening since Hamas attacked in October. Seven attackers caused the death of 1,200 people and held about 250 people as hostages. The attack on the strip is one of the most serious air attacks of the 21st century.

  • Aid workers killed in Gaza included Canadian-American citizen – Hospital records

Aid workers killed in Gaza included Canadian-American citizen – Hospital records

A bombing by Israel killed seven aid workers from World Central Kitchen, causing the charity to stop giving food to the people in Gaza who really need it. This is happening because Israel is attacking Gaza, and many Palestinians don’t have enough food to eat.

There was no way to verify where the fire started on Monday. The Israeli military said it was very sorry for the deaths, but did not admit that it was their fault.

The video showed dead people, some wearing protective clothing with the charity’s symbol, at a hospital in the central Gaza town of Deir al-Balah. Hospital records show that three people from Britain, one from Australia, one from Poland, one from the United States and Canada, and one from Palestine were killed.

The charity, started by famous chef José Andrés, helped open a new way to bring much-needed help to northern Gaza. The UN says many people there are close to starving because they are cut off from the rest of the area by Israeli forces.

Andrés’ charity helps people in many countries that have had wars or natural disasters, like Israel after the Oct. The person who caused the conflict with the attack feels very sad about the deaths of his friends.

The Israeli government must stop killing people without choosing who they are. He said on X, which used to be called Twitter, that they should stop blocking humanitarian help, stop hurting innocent people and aid workers, and stop using food as a weapon.

The charity said the team was traveling in three cars, with two of them being armored vehicles, and they had planned their movements with the Israeli army.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the top military spokesperson, said that they are looking into the incident very seriously. He also mentioned that they will begin an investigation to make sure that it doesn’t happen again.

Erin Gore, the head of the charity, said, “This is not just an attack on our organization, but on all groups trying to help in dangerous situations where food is being used as a weapon. ” “This is really wrong and can’t be forgiven. “

UNRWA, the main UN agency in Gaza, reported that 173 of its workers have been killed in the area since the war started. This happened when militants led by Hamas attacked southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking around 250 hostages. Israel fought back with one of their most deadly and damaging attacks in a longtime.

Several countries wanted to help the people in northern Gaza, where there is a big problem. They tried to open a new way to bring in more aid by using the sea. Right now, not enough supplies are getting in because Israel controls the land routes. The United States and other countries have dropped supplies from airplanes to help, but experts say it’s not enough to meet the growing needs.

Israel stopped UNRWA from sending aid to the north, and other aid groups are saying it’s too risky to send truck convoys north because the military hasn’t made sure it’s safe.

Three ships from Cyprus brought 400 tons of food and supplies to help people. The ships were organized by World Central Kitchen and the United Arab Emirates after a test run last month.

The US has given important help to Israel’s attack. They are talking about using the sea to deliver aid and are going to build a floating dock. It will take a few weeks to build.

Adrienne Watson, who speaks for the National Security Council, said that the US is very upset and worried about the strike. “Weask Israel to quickly look into what happened,” she wrote on X.

Nael Eliyan, a Palestinian who had to leave his home, was in his tent about 100 meters away when he heard a big blast on Monday night. He quickly went to the place where it happened. “Their injuries were very bad, and they died fast,” he said, calling them “heroes, martyrs, and brave people. “

The aid workers’ bodies were brought to a hospital in the southern city of Rafah near the Egyptian border, as reported by an Associated Press reporter at the hospital.

The Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, said that a person named Zomi Frankcom from Melbourne, who was 44yearsold, was killed. He also said that the Australian government has asked Israel for an explanation.

“This person volunteered in another country to help people in need through a charity organization in Gaza who are going through a lot of hardship. ” “This is not okay at all,” Albanese told reporters.

DavidCameron, the top official in charge of UK relations with other countries, said they are checking to see if reports about British people dying in the attack are true. He said it was very upsetting news.

“It is important to keep humanitarian workers safe while they do their job,” he wrote on X, and also asked for an investigation.

Poland’s Foreign Ministry expressed their deepest sympathy to the family of a volunteer who had been helping Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. They did not say how the volunteer had died. The Foreign Ministry wants to know why Israel did something and is asking them to explain.

The mayor of Przemysl, Wojciech Bakun, said on Facebook that the victim’s name was Damian Soból and he was from the city in southeastern Poland.

Over 32,916 people in Gaza have died in the war, and most of them were women and children. The Health Ministry in Gaza counts all the deaths, not just civilians. Israel says that the deaths of civilians are caused by Palestinian militants who fight in crowded neighborhoods. The army doesn’t usually talk about specific attacks.

Late on Monday, it seems like Israel attacked Rafah and 12 Palestinians, including 5 children, were killed. Israel said they would keep fighting in that area even though there are a lot of Palestinians there who have run away from the fighting in other places.

  • Israeli strike kills four foreign relief workers and driver after delivering food – Gaza medical team

Israeli strike kills four foreign relief workers and driver after delivering food – Gaza medical team

Medical officials in Gaza say that it seems like an Israeli bombing killed four aid workers from the World Central Kitchen charity and their Palestinian driver. They had just delivered food and supplies to northern Gaza that had come in by ship earlier than expected.

Video showed the bodies of five people who had died at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the middle of Gaza in Deir al-Balah. Many of them wore safety gear with the charity’s symbol. Staff displayed the passports of three people who died- one was from Britain, one was from Australia, and one was from Poland. We didn’t know what country the fourth aid worker was from right away.

The workers’ car got hit by an Israeli attack after leaving northern Gaza. They had just delivered aid from a ship that came from Cyprus. Mahmoud Thabet, a paramedic from the Palestinian Red Crescent, was in the team that brought the bodies to the hospital and told The Associated Press. It’s not clear where the fire started, and the Israeli military did not say anything about it when asked.

On Monday, ships brought 400 tons of food and supplies as part of a donation from the United Arab Emirates and the World Central Kitchen, led by chef José Andrés. Last month, a boat brought 200 tons of help in a test delivery. The Israeli military helped to send both deliveries.

The United States sea route has been promoted as a new way to bring much-needed help to northern Gaza. Hundreds of Palestinians there are in urgent need of food, but can’t get enough because Israeli forces have blocked off the area from the rest of the territory. organization responsible for Palestinian refugees, from operating in Jerusalem. Israel has accused UNRWA of promoting anti-Israeli propaganda and incitement. This decision has been criticized by the international community and human rights organizations. A group in Gaza that delivers supplies is having trouble sending trucks to the north because it’s not safe. Other aid groups also say it’s too dangerous because the military isn’t making sure the trucks can go safely.

The Israeli army left Gaza’s biggest hospital on Monday after being there for two weeks and fighting in the area. Video showed a lot of damage, with the main buildings completely destroyed by fire.

The army said the attack on Shifa Hospital was a big win in the war. They said they killed 200 fighters, but it’s not confirmed if all of them were fighters.

The attack happened when many people in Israel were getting more and more frustrated. Thousands of people were protesting on Sunday against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They wanted him to work harder to bring back the many people who were being held captive in Gaza. It was the biggest protest against the government since the war began.

In another place, Syrian officials and state media said an Israeli attack destroyed Iran’s consulate in Syria, causing the deaths of two Iranian generals and five officers.

The attack shows that Israel is stepping up its efforts to attack Iranian military officials and their friends in Syria. The focus on attacking has increased since Hamas fighters, who are backed by Iran, attacked Israel on October. Rewrite this text using simpler words:

The attack destroyed Iran’s consular building, but its main embassy building in Syria was not damaged.

Israel did not say anything about the strikes. Iran’s ambassador, Hossein Akbari, promised to take revenge for the attack with the same severity.

In other news, Netanyahu said he would close down the TV channel Al Jazeera right away. Netanyahu promised to shut down the “terror channel” after the parliament passed a law on Monday allowing the country to stop the Qatari-owned channel from broadcasting in Israel.

Netanyahu said that Al Jazeera is hurting Israel’s security and was involved in the October incident. 7 Hamas carries out attacks and encourages violence against Israel.

Al Jazeera criticized what he said and called it a dangerous and ridiculous lie. They said it was Netanyahu’s way of justifying the ongoing attack on the media and press freedom. In a statement, the network promised to continue reporting with confidence and skill.

The hospital was badly damaged during a raid and it used to be very important for Gaza’s healthcare. Even though doctors and staff tried to get it working again after an attack in November, it was still not working well.

Israel said it attacked Shifa because they believed top Hamas leaders were there getting ready to launch more attacks. Israeli officials found and confirmed that six members of Hamas’ military group were killed in the hospital during the attack. Israel also said it took weapons and important information.

Altogether, the military claimed to have killed 200 fighters in and around Shifa, but they didn’t show proof that all of them were fighters.

The attack caused a lot of fighting near Shifa for several days. People saw bombs being dropped and houses being shot at. Soldiers went from house to house making people leave.

After the soldiers left, many Palestinians came back to look for their family members who were missing or to see the destruction.

Ahmed Maqadma and his mother were both doctors at Shifa hospital. They were among the people who died. Dr(someone’s name) said Ahmed’s cousin also died in the attack. Ghassan Abu Sitta is a doctor from Palestine and Britain. He helped at Shifa and other hospitals during the beginning of the war. Later, he went back to Britain.

The three people had not been heard from since they spoke on the phone with their family while trying to leave Shifa almost a week ago, and then the call suddenly ended. On Monday, family members found their bodies with gunshot wounds near the hospital, said Abu Sitta, who is in contact with the family.

Mohammed Mahdi said everything was destroyed. He saw many buildings burned and found six dead bodies, two of which were in the hospital yard. It’s unclear when they died.

Videos on the internet showed Shifa’s main buildings burned and badly damaged. Many people saw military bulldozers digging up a grave in Shifa’s courtyard. This uncovered a lot of bodies that had been buried there in November.

At least 21 people died during the attack, according to the World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on the social media platform, formerly known as Twitter.

He said more than 100 patients were still in the compound during the operation. This included four children, 28 very sick patients, and many others who had infections and were very thirsty.

The army said its soldiers did not hurt any people inside the area. Israel says that Hamas is using hospitals for military reasons and has attacked many hospitals in the area.

Critics say the army is putting civilians in danger and making it harder for the already-busy health sector to help people who are hurt.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, the head military spokesman, said that Hamas and the smaller Islamic Jihad group have set up their main headquarters in the hospital in the north. He talked about fighting in close quarters for many days. He said that Hamas caused a lot of damage. Some fighters hid inside hospital rooms and others shot mortar rounds at the area.

Hagari said that the soldiers caught around 900 people they thought were militants during the attack. This included over 500 Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters. They also took over $3 million in different types of money and weapons.

He said the army helped more than 200 out of 300 to 350 sick people leave and gave food, water, and medicine to the others. Two Israeli soldiers died in the attack, according to the military.

The war started on October. In 2007, militants from Hamas attacked southern Israel and killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians. They also held about 250 people as hostages.

Israel attacked by air, land, and sea, and it has killed at least 32,845 Palestinians, about two-thirds of them were women and children, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The ministry counts everyone the same, whether they are regular people or fighters. The Israeli military says that civilian people are being hurt because Palestinian fighters are hiding in neighborhoods where many people live.

The war made most people leave their homes and a third of them are close to starving. Northern Gaza, where Shifa is, has been very damaged and cut off from the rest of the world for a long time. This has caused a lot of people to go without food.

At the same time, more food arrived by a boat from Cyprus using a new route across the sea. One of the three boats was visible from the shore, and the foreign minister of Cyprus said they were allowed to unload. We didn’t know exactly how the delivery works yet.

Netanyahu promised to continue attacking until Hamas is defeated and all hostages are released. He says Israel will soon send more soldiers into the southern city of Rafah, where over half of Gaza’s population have gone for safety.

However, many Israelis are putting more and more pressure on him because they think he is responsible for the security mistakes in October. Some families of the hostages are mad at him because they think he is the reason a deal was not reached, even though the United States, Qatar, and Egypt tried to help with the talks for weeks. Other countries, like the United States, have told him not to invade Rafah.

Hamas and other fighters still have about 100 people captive and the bodies of 30 others. They let most of the other captives go last November when there was a break in the fighting, in exchange for Palestinians who were in prison in Israel.

  • Israel and Hamas intensify their efforts as global pressure increases for Gaza ceasefire

Israel and Hamas intensify their efforts as global pressure increases for Gaza ceasefire

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to continue with Israel’s attack. He criticized a UN resolution that called for a break in the fighting. He said the resolution made Hamas more confident and made them refuse a different proposal for peace and releasing hostages.

As the fighting continues in Gaza for six months, each side says they can win and doesn’t want outside help to stop the fighting.

Netanyahu thinks that Israel can reach its goals of breaking up Hamas and bringing back many hostages if they send more troops to the city of Rafah in the south. Rafah is where more than half of Gaza’s people are staying, and many are living in crowded tent camps.

Hamas said it will keep the hostages until Israel agrees to a long-term peace deal, removes its soldiers from Gaza, and sets free many Palestinian prisoners, including important fighters. It was announced on Monday that they turned down a recent offer because it didn’t meet their demands. If their demands were met, it would be very expensive for the other party.

Netanyahu said that Hamas does not want to keep talking about making a deal and that this announcement shows how the Security Council decision has caused harm.

“Israel will not give in to Hamas’ unrealistic demands. They will keep fighting to achieve all their goals in the war: freeing all the hostages, destroying Hamas’ military and governing abilities, and making sure Gaza can never harm Israel again. ”

The war has caused the death of more than 32,000 people in Gaza. Most of those who died were women and children. The war has destroyed a lot of Gaza Strip, forcing many people to leave and causing a lot of people to not have enough food.

A building in Rafah was hit by Israel Monday night. At least 16 people were killed, including nine children and four women. They were staying in the building because they had been forced from their homes. This information comes from hospital records and family members of the people who died. A reporter from the Associated Press saw the dead bodies being brought to a hospital.

On Monday, the Security Council made a decision to stop fighting, but the United States didn’t vote yes or no, which made Israel very upset. This caused even more tension between the two countries. The resolution says that hostages in Gaza should be set free, but it doesn’t say that the ceasefire depends on it.

Israel’s foreign minister said that the resolution made Hamas feel stronger because it signaled that international pressure would stop the war without Hamas having to give up anything.

“The message sent to Hamas yesterday is that they don’t need to rush,” Katz said.

The war started on October. In 2007, a group of militants led by Hamas invaded Israel and attacked towns in the south. They killed about 1,200 people, mostly regular people, and kidnapped about 250 others. It is thought that there are still around 100 people being kept against their will, and the bodies of 30 others, after most of the other hostages were let go in November in return for setting free some Palestinian prisoners.

The United States, Qatar, and Egypt have been trying for a few weeks to make a deal to stop fighting and to free hostages, but it seems like they are not making progress. Hamas told the mediators that it will continue to support its previous position, according to a statement it issued on Monday night.

Hamas said that Israel has not agreed to stop fighting, leave the area, let people go back home, and exchange prisoners.

Hamas has suggested a step-by-step plan. They would let all the hostages go in exchange for Israel leaving Gaza, aid and rebuilding help, and letting many Palestinian prisoners go, especially those who are leaders of violent groups.

Netanyahu promised to continue attacking Israel’s enemies after any hostages are freed. He will keep fighting until Hamas is defeated, because he believes this is the only way to stop another attack like the one in October.

  • Israel postpones its travel to Washington after US allows UN resolution on Gaza truce

Israel postpones its travel to Washington after US allows UN resolution on Gaza truce

The US and Israel found themselves at odds on Monday when the UN Security Council approved a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, with the US opting not to intervene.

The US chose not to vote, so Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled a trip planned for two of his top advisers to go to the US, according to two Israeli officials.

The US has said no to resolutions asking for a ceasefire before. Last week, it changed its position on Friday when it suggested a ceasefire resolution connected to freeing hostages. The decision failed because Russia and China said no to it. The US chose not to vote on Monday, so the latest resolution passed because the other 14 members of the 15-strong council voted yes.

The US Ambassador to the United Nations named Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the US asked for changes to the latest resolution, but still couldn’t vote yes because they disagreed with some parts of it.

“The ambassador said that a ceasefire could have happened a while ago if Hamas had let go of the hostages. He wants member states and the UNSC to tell Hamas to agree to the deal that is being offered. ”

“She said that if there is a ceasefire, all hostages should be set free. ”

The 10 countries on the Security Council want fighting to stop during Ramadan. They also want hostages to be released right away and for more aid to be sent to Gaza quickly.

The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, said it would be very bad if the resolution is not put into action.

The Security Council just agreed on a resolution for Gaza. It asks for a quick ceasefire and for all hostages to be released right away and without any conditions.
This decision needs to happen. “Guterres said on X, that failure would be really bad. ”

The UN voted on Monday when tensions were increasing over a potential Israeli military operation in Gaza’s southern city of Rafah. The US wants Israel to tell them how they will keep 1. 4 million Palestinians safe as they are expected to attack. The US thinks it would be a bad idea to attack the Palestinians.

Tzachi Hanegbi and Ron Dermer were supposed to go to Washington to talk about Israel’s plans for war and what the US could do to help. But they canceled the trip because of the vote.

John Kirby, who speaks for National Security, said that the US was not happy about Netanyahu canceling the trip.

“We’re upset that they won’t come to Washington, DC, so we can talk about other options instead of sending troops to Rafah. ”

Israel agreed to a deal about prisoners and hostages proposed by the US, as reported by CNN analyst Barak Ravid from recent talks in Doha. The agreement could lead to the freeing of about 700 Palestinian prisoners, including 100 who are serving life sentences for killing Israelis. In return, 40 Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza would be released.

However, Hamas said there are still other issues that need to be resolved, apart from the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails. Hamas leader Basem Naeim told CNN that the Israeli and American media were putting pressure on the negotiations.

“He said the negotiations are not just about the prisoner exchange deal for us. ”

Naeim said that Israel has not agreed to any of Hamas’ requests for a full ceasefire, pulling out all of its troops from the Gaza Strip, even if done gradually, and allowing all displaced people to go back to their homes.

  • UN calls for ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan, Muslim holy month

UN calls for ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan, Muslim holy month

The United Nations Security Council asked for fighting to stop in Gaza during Ramadan, which is an important time for Muslims. It was the first time they made this kind of request.

The United States did not vote either way on the resolution. The resolution also said that all hostages taken by Hamas in October should be released. There was a surprise attack in southern Israel. However, the measure doesn’t connect the demand to stop fighting during Ramadan, which ends on April 9th.

Russia and China said no to a US plan to stop the fighting between Israel and Hamas.

The United States said the decision made on Monday could make it harder to stop fighting. The US, Egypt, and Qatar are trying to negotiate peace. This might lead to the US vetoing the decision.

The 10 council members made a plan, and Russia, China, and the 22-nation Arab Group support it at the United Nations.

On Friday night, the Arab Group asked all 15 council members to work together and vote for the resolution to stop the fighting, save lives, and prevent more suffering and destruction.

“The Arab Group said it’s been a long time since a ceasefire is needed. ”

Since Ramadan will end next month, the request for a ceasefire will only be for two weeks, even though the plan says that the break in fighting should lead to a lasting ceasefire.

Since the war began, the Security Council made two decisions about the getting worse situation for people in Gaza, but neither of them asked for the fighting to stop.

Over 32,000 Palestinians in Gaza have died in the fighting, as reported by the Gaza Health Ministry. The agency counts both civilians and soldiers, and says that two-thirds of the people who died are women and children.

Gaza is in a very bad situation. A group that knows about hunger said that a famine could happen soon in the northern part of Gaza. If the war gets worse, half of the 2. 3 million people living in Gaza could have no food to eat.

The US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the resolution does not help with delicate negotiations in the area. Even more, it might give Hamas a reason to not accept the deal that is being offered.

“We shouldn’t approve any decision that could harm the current negotiations,” she said. She warned that if we don’t support the diplomacy, “the council might be stuck without making any progress again. ”

“I really hope that doesn’t happen,” said Thomas-Greenfield.

The United States said “no” to three plans that wanted to stop the fighting in Gaza. The latest one was suggested by Arab countries in February. Rewrite this text in simpler words: 20清单23. 13 council members agreed to the resolution, one member didn’t vote, showing that most everyone supports a ceasefire.

Russia and China said no to a resolution made by the US in late October. The resolution wanted to stop fighting so aid could be delivered, protect civilians, and stop giving weapons to Hamas. They said it does not show that everyone around the world wants the fighting to stop.

Once again, they said no to the US resolution on Friday. They said it was unclear and did not directly demand an end to the fighting like many countries want.

The vote was a big fight between powerful countries who are arguing in other places. The United States got criticized for not being strong against its friend Israel, even though they are getting more and more tense with each other.

One important problem was the strange wording in the US draft. The Security Council said it is very important to stop fighting right away and for a long time. They didn’t just demand or ask for it directly.

Russia’s UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia said that before the vote, Russia supports a ceasefire right away. But he didn’t like the vague language in the resolution and said it was too philosophical for a UN resolution.

He said that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield were not telling the truth about asking for a ceasefire.

“This was just a meaningless talk,” Nebenzia said. The American product is very political and is only meant to appeal to voters by mentioning a ceasefire in Gaza. It also aims to protect Israel from punishment for its crimes.

China’s ambassador to the United Nations, Zhang Jun, said that the US proposal had conditions and did not meet the expectations of council members and the worldwide community.

He said that if the US really wanted peace, it wouldn’t keep blocking the council’s resolutions. “It should have been more direct and clear on important issues instead of being unclear and avoiding them. ”

On Friday, the 15-member council voted. Eleven members were in favor and three were against. Algeria, the Arab representative on the council, was one of the countries that voted against. Guyana chose not to vote.

After the vote, Thomas-Greenfield said Russia and China said no to the resolution for bad reasons. They couldn’t condemn Hamas’ attacks in southern Israel on Oct. 7, which the resolution would have done for the first time. 7 would have been done for the first time by the resolution.

She said another small reason is that Russia and China didn’t want to vote for a resolution written by the United States because they would rather see us fail than see the council succeed. She accused Russia of putting politics first and being hypocritical for invading Ukraine and then criticizing others.

The decision showed that the United States is changing its position, because even Israel’s friends are asking for the fighting to stop without any conditions.

In the past, the US has asked for a ceasefire and for Israeli hostages in Gaza to be freed. This decision, with wording that can be understood in different ways, still connected the two problems, but not as strongly.

  • US resolution requests for ceasefire in Gaza unapproved by UN Security Council

US resolution requests for ceasefire in Gaza unapproved by UN Security Council

The United Nations was unable to reach an agreement on stopping the fighting in Gaza due to opposition from Russia and China.

The resolution asked for a quick and lasting stop to fighting for about six weeks. This would keep people safe and help get them necessary aid. Vassily Nebenzia, Russia’s ambassador to the UN, said the report was very political and gave Israel permission to attack Rafah.

The United Nations Security Council will vote on a resolution proposed by the United States. The resolution says it’s very important to have a quick and continuing ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. This is to protect people and allow food and supplies to reach over 2 million Palestinians who need them.

The US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield said she believed that the stricter resolution would be passed by the 15-member council on Friday.

The vote on the draft will decide the council’s order for a quick and lasting ceasefire. It doesn’t specifically mention releasing hostages taken by Hamas in October. Israel was attacked 7 times before. The statement strongly supports using diplomacy to achieve a ceasefire and the release of all hostages.

Dmitry Polyansky, Russia’s deputy UN ambassador, said that Russia wants an immediate ceasefire and that this is also what US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is pushing for, and what everyone wants. He asked about the wording in the draft and said, “What’s an imperative. I have to give you $100, but it’s just a rule, not $100. ”

The Russian ambassador said that someone is playing tricks on the international community.

The Security Council agreed on two plans to help the people in Gaza, but none of them asked for fighting to stop.

In October, Russia and China said no to a plan from the US to stop the fighting so aid could be given and civilians could be protected. They also said no to stopping the arming of Hamas. They said it doesn’t show that countries all over the world are asking for a stop to fighting.

The United States, the country that is closest to Israel, said no to three proposals asking for a stop to the fighting. The most recent proposal was supported by Arab countries and most of the council members, but the US said no. Please simplify the following text: “20. ”

The US proposed a different resolution earlier, and it has been changed a lot in talks before the vote on Friday. Initially, it would have agreed to a short break in fighting if all hostages were released. The previous plan would have also supported efforts by other countries to stop fighting as part of a deal to free hostages.

The vote will happen while Blinken, the top American diplomat, is on his sixth urgent trip to the Middle East since the Israel-Hamas war. He is talking about getting a ceasefire and releasing hostages, and also planning for after the war.

Nate Evans, who speaks for the US Mission to the United Nations, said that the Council should all agree to support the negotiations happening and put pressure on Hamas to agree to the deal being offered.

At the same time, the 10 chosen leaders of the Security Council have been writing their own decision. It would ask for a quick break in fighting for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan which began on March 10. This break should be followed by a long-lasting ceasefire.

It also asks for all hostages to be released right away and without any conditions. It also emphasizes the urgent need to protect people and give them necessary help in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian fighters killed about 1,200 people in the unexpected October attack. 7 attacks happened in southern Israel, which started the war, and 250 more people were kidnapped. It is thought that Hamas is still keeping about 100 people as hostages, along with the bodies of 30 others.

In Gaza, the Health Ministry said nearly 32,000 Palestinians have died. It doesn’t separate civilians from soldiers when counting the dead, but it says that two-thirds of the people who died are women and children.

This week, the group that decides how bad hunger crises are says that there will be a famine in northern Gaza soon. 70% of people there really don’t have enough to eat. The IPC report says that if the war continues to get worse, half of the people in Gaza could not have enough food to eat.

The US is very worried about the possibility of war causing hunger and sickness for the people in Gaza. They are also concerned about how many people in Gaza don’t have enough food to eat, and they think the situation there is very bad.

It would show how important it is to send more help to people in Gaza and make sure there are no obstacles to getting them the aid they need.

The final version of the draft was completed on Thursday night and is ready to be voted on.

After talking with other leaders about Gaza on Thursday, France’s representative to the United Nations, Nicolas de Riviere, said, “We want to do something about this quickly and hope to make a decision by Friday evening. ”

“He said we have two choices: Either we adopt the US text and move to the next phase of managing this crisis, or if we don’t adopt it, the elected members will bring their own draft to the table for a vote, and I hope it gets adopted. ”

Israel is being pushed by its friends to make it easier to send help to Gaza and to open more borders. They also want Israel to agree to stop fighting. However, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to continue the military attack in the southern city of Rafah, where 1. 3 million Palestinians who have been forced to leave their homes are seeking safety. Netanyahu says that Hamas has a lot of control in that area.

The last version of the US draft took out a sentence that said Israel should not attack Rafah at that time. Instead, the council would talk about their worry that attacking Rafah would hurt more civilians and make them leave to other countries, and it would cause problems for peace and safety in the region.

For the first time, a resolution from the UN would criticize all acts of terrorism, including the attacks led by Hamas in October. The US wrote this resolution. On 7th, 2023, it took hostages, killed people, and committed sexual violence, including rape.

  • Israeli attack on Rafah in Gaza would be “mistake” to bring down Hamas – Blinken

Israeli attack on Rafah in Gaza would be “mistake” to bring down Hamas – Blinken

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Thursday that an important Israeli attack on the southern Gaza town of Rafah would be a “mistake” and “not needed” to defeat Hamas. This shows that the relationship between the United States and Israel is getting worse.

Blinken had an important meeting with important Arab leaders in Egypt to talk about stopping the fighting in the Middle East. This is his sixth time going there since the war started. They also discussed plans for what will happen in Gaza after the war is over. He said we need to stop fighting right away and release the Israeli hostages held by Hamas. The US, Egypt, and Qatar have been working on negotiations and getting closer to an agreement. The talks will keep going in Qatar on Friday with important people.

Blinken is going to Israel on Friday to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his team that makes decisions about war. The fighting between Netanyahu and President Biden about how to fight the war will probably be more important than their discussions. Netanyahu really wants to start a ground attack on Rafah, where a lot of Palestinians are hiding from Israeli attacks.

Netanyahu said that Israel needs to invade Rafah in order to destroy Hamas after the deadly October events. Israel started bombing Gaza and launching an attack after 7 people were taken as hostages.

“We don’t think it’s a good idea to have a big military operation in Rafah. ” “We don’t need to work with Hamas, and that’s important,” said Blinken at a press conference in Cairo with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. A big attack would cause more innocent people to die and make the situation in Gaza even worse, Blinken said. He also said that he will be talking about different plans with Israeli officials in the coming days, to find a better solution.

The US has changed its stance on a Rafah operation a lot in the past few days. At first, US officials said they couldn’t agree to a big attack on the city unless there was a safe plan to get civilians out. US officials said they have looked into it and think it’s not possible because there are too many people living there. They are suggesting that the only way to prevent harm to civilians is to use operations that specifically target known Hamas fighters and leaders.

However, Netanyahu promised to disregard warnings and proceed with the Rafah operation during a 45-minute call with GOP senators on Wednesday. He also criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for speaking out against the number of innocent people killed in Gaza and for calling for new elections in Israel in a speech that Biden later said was “good. ”

Netanyahu said Israel will continue in Rafah, as per the senators in the meeting. John Kennedy, a Republican from Louisiana, said Netanyahu clearly stated that he and the people of Israel plan to fight the war with all their strength and won’t let Senator Schumer or President Biden tell them what to do.

Israeli critics say that Netanyahu is causing damage to American support by making strong connections with Republican leaders.

When Blinken and the Arab ministers got together, Gaza’s Health Ministry said that almost 32,000 Palestinians have died since the war started there. Furthermore, UN officials have increased their warnings that there could be a famine very soon in northern Gaza.

Blinken met with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates in Cairo. They also met with a leader from the Palestine Liberation Organization, a group that represents the Palestinian people. They also talked about how to send help to Gaza quickly by land, air, and sea.

During a previous meeting, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi told Blinken that it’s important to stop fighting right away and cautioned against any Israeli attack in Rafah. This was reported by el-Sissi’s spokesperson.

Both groups said they still don’t want Gazans to be forced out of their homes and they agreed it’s important to do everything they can to make sure that food and supplies get into Gaza.

Blinken said the differences are getting smaller in talks about stopping the fighting, but we still have more work to do. “He said there are still difficult problems to solve. ” “We’ve fixed some problems, but there are still more to fix. ”

Netanyahu’s office announced that the leader of the Mossad spy agency will go back to Qatar on Friday. He will meet with CIA chief William Burns and other important people involved in the talks. On Thursday, the office announced that the prime minister of Qatar and the intelligence chief of Egypt will also participate in the discussions.

At the same time, the United States wants a fast vote on a new UN resolution that asks for a quick and lasting stop to the fighting, to keep people safe and allow aid to be given. Robert Wood, the US deputy ambassador to the UN, said he wants to have a vote by the end of the week. The decision is important because it doesn’t insist on stopping the fighting to free the hostages.

Still, Blinken said the two must go together. “He said we need to stop fighting right now and let the hostages go. ”

Netanyahu has disagreed with the Biden administration’s repeated warnings that Israel needs an independent Palestinian state for long-term security.

A clear plan and deadline for creating a Palestinian state are important for Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries to be friends with Israel. This is something Netanyahu really wants to make happen. Blinken spent a lot of time in Jeddah with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman talking about making things more normal between the US and Saudi Arabia.

Biden and Netanyahu finally talked on the phone after not speaking for a month. They agreed that experts from Israel would go to Washington to talk about the Rafah plans. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is going to Washington next week for a visit.

The fighting started when Palestinian fighters killed about 1,200 people in a surprise attack in October. 7 attacks from Gaza started the war and kidnapped 250 people. It is believed that Hamas is still keeping about 100 people as hostages and the remains of 30 other people.

UK feeds 275,000 Palestinians in Gaza with largest assistance package

275,000 people in Gaza were provided with food aid by the UK. Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron asked for consistent access to the area for humanitarian reasons.

The UK gave over 2,000 tons of food to the World Food Programme to distribute.

The IPC, a group of many governments and aid organizations, says that a famine could happen soon in Gaza.

Lord Cameron asked Israel to let more help go in the place destroyed by war.

“He said it’s very important to keep sending help to Gaza to stop the suffering, and that’s why this recent aid delivery by WFP is crucial. ”

The IPC’s report says there could be a famine soon. We need to keep the roads open so that we can bring in more help for people in need.

“We keep asking Israel to open more crossings and to open them for longer. We also want them to make sure healthcare, water, and sanitation services are restored. ”

The foreign secretary wants Israel to make it easier to bring aid to Gaza by opening a land crossing in the north and giving more visas to UN staff.

The UK recently sent aid to a crisis-affected area and Jordan helped make it happen. Jordan has been a big help in the UK’s efforts to respond to the crisis.

The delivery has strong wheat flour for bakeries and food packages to feed over 275,000 people.

Each food package is made for a family of five and includes canned vegetables, meat and fish, and date bars.

The package can provide enough food for a family’s calorie needs for half of the day for 15 days.

It comes with 150 tons of things like blankets and tents that were paid for by the UK. There is also a hospital run by UK-Med that is now open and giving people the care they need to survive.

  • UN agency head claims Israel prevented him from reaching Gaza

UN agency head claims Israel prevented him from reaching Gaza

The leader of the organization that helps Palestinian refugees says he can’t go to Gaza. Philippe Lazzarini said it was the first time this had ever happened to a leader of UNRWA.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Lazzarini said it would be easy to send a lot of food to Gaza, but he couldn’t go there this week.

He said that Israel picked only him and he disagreed with their reason for not letting him in.

Mr Lazzarini, who has visited Gaza many times before, says he was the only one in his group who was not allowed to enter by the Israeli defence body COGAT on Monday.

Israel is feeling pressure from its Western allies. But Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is determined to invade Rafah, where he believes there are still Hamas soldiers.

The country has been blamed for stopping aid from reaching Gaza, but it says it didn’t do that. The UN said this could be considered a war crime.

Mr Lazzarini said it’s simple to send lots of food to Gaza and to change things for the better.

He said, “I was supposed to go to Gaza on Monday. ” I was in Cairo when the Israeli authorities told me I couldn’t go to Gaza, even though the rest of my group could.

“This is the first time ever that the boss of the agency was not allowed to go into Gaza on purpose. ”

UNRWA is the biggest help group in Gaza. Israel says that the agency is protecting Hamas and claims that 12 UNRWA workers were involved in the attack on southern Israel on October 7th.

When someone asked Mr. Miliband what he would tell Israeli officials, he said, “I would tell them to allow more trucks to go in. ”

“Simplify the process for checking things, once the UN has checked the food, you need to make sure everything runs smoothly. ”

“We also need to open more ways for people to cross into Gaza so that everyone there can get food help. ”

“Up in the north of Gaza, there are people who were thought to be safe from the fighting after the first few months. ”

“Al Shifa hospital is seeing more fighting, but it’s not okay to block food aid for military reasons. “

  • Netanyahu retaliates to growing US criticism over his alleged mistakes in Gaza

Netanyahu retaliates to growing US criticism over his alleged mistakes in Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu complained on Sunday about the United States criticizing his leadership during the war with Hamas. He said it was wrong for people to call for a new election.

Recently, Chuck Schumer, a leader in the US Senate and a big supporter of Israel, asked Israel to have a new election. He said that Netanyahu, the leader of Israel, has made some mistakes. President Biden also said he liked Schumer’s speech and said Netanyahu is causing a lot of civilian deaths in Gaza.

Netanyahu said to Fox News that Israel wouldn’t have asked for a new U. S leader The election took place in September. In 2001, there were 11 attacks. Schumer said something wrong about the attacks.

“He said we are not a country ran by a corrupt government. ” The people in Israel get to decide when they have elections and who they will vote for. It won’t be forced on them.

When the media asked Netanyahu if he would have a new election after the war, he said it’s up to the people of Israel to decide.

The US helps Israel with military and diplomatic support. They are worried about Israel’s plan to attack the southern Gaza city of Rafah, where 1. 4 million Palestinian people who have no homes are living. John Kirby, who speaks for the National Security Council, told Fox News that the United States has not yet seen a plan from Israel for Rafah.

The United States. supports a new discussion to stop the fighting and get back the Israeli captives taken by Hamas in October. 7 assaults

The group from Israel going to the talks was supposed to go to Qatar after a meeting on Sunday night. The meeting will give instructions for the negotiations.

Even though people are trying to make peace, Netanyahu said he won’t stop the fighting that has caused the deaths of over 31,000 Palestinians, according to local health officials. It has been over five months since Hamas attacked southern Israel, which killed 1,200 people and took 250 others as hostages.

Earlier today, Netanyahu said that if there was an election now, Israel would have to stop fighting and would not be able to do anything for six months. Polls show that he would lose the election by a lot.

Netanyahu said he is determined to attack Hamas in Rafah and that his government approved military plans for the operation.

“We will work in Rafah. ” “He said it will take a few weeks and it will happen,” The mission is supposed to help hundreds of thousands of people leave the area, but it’s not clear how Israel will make that happen.

Egypt’s president, Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, warned again that if Israel attacks Rafah, it will cause serious problems for the entire region. Egypt believes that moving Palestinians into the Sinai Peninsula will put its peace agreement with Israel at risk, which is very important for keeping the region stable.

We are also very worried about the dangers that a big attack in Rafah could have on the innocent people who live there. “We absolutely must avoid this,” said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen after meeting with el-Sissi.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he is worried about the people in Gaza and thinks that we should find different ways to achieve our goals, instead of causing so much harm to them.

Germany is a very good friend of Israel in Europe and is careful not to upset Israel because of the history of the Holocaust.

Patrick’s Day celebrations, met with President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss trade and immigration issues. At a White House event for St. Patrick’s Day, it was mentioned that the Irish people are very concerned about what’s happening in Gaza. He said we can learn a lot from Ireland’s peace process and how important it was for the US to be involved.

Varadkar said people often ask why the Irish care so much about the Palestinians.

We learn about our past when we look into their eyes. A story about being forced to leave your home, losing your land, and having your sense of belonging to a country taken away. Headded that now they are also suffering from hunger.

Alon Pinkas, who used to be the Israeli consul-general in New York and doesn’t like Netanyahu, said that the prime minister is trying to find someone else to blame if Israel doesn’t succeed in destroying Hamas.

“He’s intentionally trying to start a fight with the U. S” “He wants to blame Biden,” Pinkas said.

Both groups can benefit politically from the argument. Many progressive Democrats and some Arab-American supporters are putting pressure on the Biden administration to stop Israel’s fight against Hamas. Netanyahu wants to prove to his supporters that he can handle pressure from around the world, even from Israel’s closest friend.

However, there is also pressure from people at home. Thousands protested in Tel Aviv on Saturday night against Netanyahu’s government, asking for a new election and a deal to release hostages. Many people in Israel want an agreement because they are worried about the hostages being in bad conditions and not having much time to bring them home safely.

Israel’s attack has forced nearly all of Gaza’s 2. 3 million people to leave their homes. One out of every four people in Gaza doesn’t have enough food to eat, according to the UN.

The US and other countries are still dropping supplies from the air and starting to use a new sea route to deliver aid. But aid organizations say we need more ways to deliver aid by land and fewer rules from Israel to really help people in need.

“Of course we need to send help by using roads to people in need. ” “By now, we should have at least two or three other ways to get into Gaza,” said chef Jose Andres from World Central Kitchen, who arranged for lots of food to be delivered.

Those fighting for Israel in Gaza should be detained – South African minister

The foreign minister of South Africa says that people from her country who fight in the Israeli army or with them in Gaza will be arrested when they come back. This has made the relationship between the two countries even worse, especially after South Africa accused Israel of genocide at the United Nations.

Earlier this week, Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor spoke at a Palestinian solidarity event that was attended by officials from South Africa’s ruling African National Congress party.

She told people to protest outside the embassies of five countries that support Israel and its military actions in Gaza. She didn’t say their names but she was probably talking about the United States and the U. Kand also Germany and other countries.

“I have already warned South Africans who are fighting with or in the Israeli Defense Forces: We are prepared. ” “When you get home, we’re going to catch you,” Pandor said, and the audience clapped loudly.

In December, the South African government said it was worried that some of its citizens or residents had joined the IDF to fight in Gaza. They warned that these people could get in trouble if they didn’t have permission to do so under South Africa’s laws.

People who have citizenship in both South Africa and Israel may lose their South African citizenship, according to the foreign ministry.

Pandor’s comments showed that the government is taking a stricter position.

It’s not known how many people from South Africa have fought for Israel in the current Gaza war. South Africa has a lot of Jewish people, about 70,000.

South Africa’s government has always supported the Palestinian people and criticized Israel, even before the recent war.

Many South Africans and the ruling ANC party see similarities between how Israel treats Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank and how non-whites were treated during apartheid in South Africa.

Israel says no to South Africa’s accusation that it is treating Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza in a way that is similar to apartheid. Israel also strongly disagrees with South Africa’s claim in the International Court of Justice that it is committing genocide in Gaza. The decision in that case might not come for a very long time.

Israel said that South Africa is supporting the Hamas group that attacked southern Israel on Oct. and is not on their side. The fighting between Israel and Gaza started when 1200 Israelis were killed and 250 hostages were taken back to Gaza.

Israel’s attack on Gaza has caused a lot of damage. More than 31,000 Palestinians have died, and many of the 2. 3 million people who live there have been forced to leave their homes. This has caused a big problem, with hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in danger of starving.

Pandor asked people at the event to make signs that say “Stop Genocide” and protest outside the embassies of the countries that support Israel.

“Don’t just come to this dinner. “Be seen supporting the people of Palestine,” she said.
