    Garland criticises ‘outrageous’ religion question

Garland has criticised Representative Jefferson Van Drew for asking a “outrageous” question about whether “traditional” Catholics are extremists in another emotional confrontation.

A January FBI field office memo apparently refers to some Catholics as “racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists,” which is the source of Van Drew’s query.

Garland declares that it is preposterous and absurd that someone with his or her family’s background would discriminate against any faith. “The FBI director and I both agreed that we were horrified by that memo.”

Garland revealed during his introductory remarks that many of his family members died during the Holocaust in what is now Belarus, causing him to become upset.

Gaetz’s ‘badgering witness’ point of contention among lawmakers

There will now be a brief break while members of the House committee disagree on Matt Gaetz‘s line of inquiry.

Gaetz, a Republican congressman, repeatedly stopped Garland as the witness attempted to respond to questions, as we just mentioned. This prompted one lawmaker to accuse the congressman of “badgering the witness”

Another lawmaker chimes in, “Let him answer the question.”

United nations summit: Moment Gaetz keeps cutting Garland off

Florida Republican Matt Gaetz, who strongly supports former President Trump, starts his questioning by asking Garland if anyone has told President Biden to stop doing whatever it is that involves Hunter.

Gaetz asks Garland multiple times if the Department of Justice (DOJ) is influenced by things happening in the “outside world”. Garland replies that the DOJ makes its own decisions and is not affected by external factors.

He keeps trying to answer the question, but Gaetz keeps interrupting him.

Garland says he will not get involved in the Hunter Biden investigation, which is being handled by special counsel David Weiss.

Gaetz asks a lot of questions quickly – about the investigation on Hunter Biden, China, North Korea, and the investigation on January 6th. He suggests that the Department of Justice might have lost some important things during the riot, but there is no proof for this.

Garland avoids a query regarding Weiss

Garland has so far resisted being questioned by legislators about his interactions with David Weiss, the special prosecutor overseeing the Hunter Biden investigation.

A congressman questions him, “Your testimony is you have not discussed this matter with Mr. Weiss – under oath?”

Garland claims that during his “under oath” testimony, he “promised the Senate I would not intrude” into the Hunter Biden probe.

“I do not intend to discuss internal Justice Department operations, whether or not I had them,” he declares.
