    López extends Barcelona deal

Barcelona’s young player, Fermín López, has extended his contract with the club until 2027. His previous deal was going to end next summer.

The new contract also includes a higher release clause of €400 million.

López, who is 20 years old, had his official debut for Barça recently when he came in as a substitute during their 4-3 victory over Villarreal. After performing well in the preseason, he’s expected to be part of Xavi Hernandez’s plans for this season.

Originally, López joined Barcelona’s academy from Real Betis in 2016.

He spent the last year on loan at a third division team called Linares, where he scored 12 goals in 37 games.

López was one of the young players selected by Xavi for the preseason. He did well during the United States tour, even scoring a fantastic goal in a 3-0 win against Real Madrid in Dallas.

This performance earned him a spot in the first team.

In the first two games of the season, López was on the bench but didn’t get to play. However, he came in as a substitute against Villarreal.

With Pedri injured for more than a month, López might get more playing time if Xavi continues using a four-man midfield system.
