  • I’m ready to play for Malmo FF – Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Lomotey

Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Lomotey has expressed his readiness to feature for his new club Malmo FF in the 2022/23 season.

The 24-year-old joined the club from French side Amiens SC on a four-year deal after passing his medicals.

Lomotey, who was born in Ghana’s capital, Accra began his professional career at Dreams FC.

“Where I grew up, we play Chelsea and it was a few years ago that they faced Malmö FF. I actually liked the way Malmö played, even though it was Chelsea who won the games,” Lomotey told Sydsvenskan .

“I am ready and I had hoped to play tomorrow if it was possible. I have run a whole pre-season with Amiens and feel “fit”. If the coach had taken me out, I would have been ready any second.”

Lomotey moved to Extremadura UD in the Spanish third division after a year and a half in the domestic league.

In total, he played just under 50 games in the Spanish second and third divisions, both for Extremadura and Villarreal B before continuing his career at French side Amiens SC.

In Amiens, he played for himself a regular place and over two seasons featured in 55 games in Ligue 2.

Lomotey, who can play both in the midfield and in the back line is expected to play a key role for Malmö FF this season and beyond.

  • Emmanuel Lomotey fit and ready to face Sivasspor today

Emmanuel Lomotey is set to play in Malmo’s Europa League playoff against Sivasspor on Thursday.

Andreas Georgson reports that the Ghanaian’s work permit is now in order.

The work permit is in order and it allows the defensive midfielder to make his debut for the club he joined on August 9th.

“Our already broad and sharp squad is getting even sharper. He has had time to run three sessions with the squad and also two individual sessions, so he is fully available for selection,” Georgson said.

Can he step right into the eleven?

“He won’t get ready for that until 6 pm tomorrow,”

But it is not out of the question?

“No absolutely not. Then you must always respect the fact that it can take time to come in as a new person and find the right place. It is mainly Erdal (Rakip) that we used in the position of sixth and his trend there is very nice. But Emmanuel will be able to contribute straight away and I think he will play games quite quickly, but that does not mean that he will play all the games and all the minutes because it is a very good squad he is coming into,”

How did he get into the squad?

“It feels good, he has competed to the fullest in training. He’s a pretty quiet and low-key guy so it’s not like he chooses the music in the dressing room, but he’s found his place and he seems comfortable with it,”

  • Amiens midfielder Emmanuel Lomotey ruled out of FC Chambly clash

Amiens SC midfielder Emmanuel Lomotey has been ruled out of the game against FC Chambly after his inability to recover in time from an adductor injury.

The Ghana international joined the French Ligue 2 outfit in the summer transfer window to give the side a major squad boost.

Since his arrival, he has been used as a defender and a midfielder and remains one of the key assets for the team.

Last month, Emmanuel Lomotey pulled an adductor during a warm-up to the game against Troyes.

Having missed that match, he has subsequently sat out of two matches, bringing the total matches he has missed to four this season.

Ahead of the encounter against FC Chambly, Lomotey was being considered to return but latest assessment has disclosed that he will not recover in time.

It is now being predicted that Emmanuel Lomotey could return on December 18 to feature for Amiens SC in the French Ligue 2 meeting against Valenciennes.

  • Emmanuel Lomotey glitters as makeshift centre-back on debut as Amiens SC pip Nancy in Ligue 2 opener

Ghana youth international Emmanuel Lomotey excelled as a stop-gap centre-back on his debut for Amiens SC in their 1-0 victory against Nancy Lorraine in the French Ligue 2 on Saturday.

Lomotey joined the Unicorns from Spanish side UD Extremadura on Tuesday in a deal worth around €500,000.

The La-born midfielder impressed in training which informed coach Luka Elsner to hand him his debut against Nancy in the opening fixture of the Ligue 2.

But with experienced defender Aurélien Chedjou out with an injury, the Slovenian tactician paired Lomotey and Monzango-Gendrey at the heart of defence.

Lomotey held the position as the Stade de la Licorne outfit pipped their opponents 1-0 courtesy a71st minute goal from Sehrou Guirassy.

It is however not a surprise for those who have followed the career trajectory of the 22-year-old as he can play anywhere across the backline as well as midfield.

During his formative years with La-based lower-tier side Chelsea, Lomotey was used as a trequartista before being converted into a deep-lying midfielder at Dreams FC and subsequently UD Extremadura.

The 22-year-old lasted the entire duration of the game.
