    Accra to host first Electric Revolution Africa E-mobility conference

    Ghana is set to host the inaugural Electric Revolution Africa (ERA) E-Mobility Conference in Accra.

    Organized by the Energy Quest Foundation in partnership with the United Nations and the Ministry of Energy, Transport, Environment, Science & Technology, the conference will be held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel from July 9th to 10th, 2024.

    The two-day event will feature Ghana’s Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Prempeh, and prominent international speakers from across Africa and beyond. Themed “The New ERA: Innovation and Sustainability,” the ERA E-Mobility Conference aims to drive economic development in Africa through energy transition, fostering collaboration and accelerating the growth of the African e-mobility ecosystem.

    Key objectives include addressing critical policy challenges, exploring opportunities for sustainable e-mobility, and promoting investment and partnership opportunities within Africa’s electric vehicle industry.

    The conference will offer engaging dialogues, exhibitions, corporate networking sessions, and an electric vehicle show (EV Experience), providing a premier platform for policymakers, development partners, industry leaders, and stakeholders to converge and advance electric mobility in Africa.

    Highlighted speakers include Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and UN SRSG for Sustainable Energy for All; R. Yoofi Grant, CEO of GIPC; Dr. Riverson Oppong, CEO of the Association of Oil Marketing Companies Ghana; Charles Abani, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Ghana; Ademola Ogunbanjo, Executive Vice President of Oando Clean Energy (Nigeria); Talha Tol, Commercial Counselor of the Turkish Ambassador (Turkey); Nana Arkorful, Impact Startup Founder (USA); Doris Edem Agbevivi, Senior Officer at the Energy Commission Drive Electric Initiative (Ghana); Kodjo Afidegnon, MD of Transaction Advisory Group- GreenMax (Togo); Amazing Grace Anim-Yeboah, Director of Business Banking at Absa (Ghana); and Ian Mbote, MD and Chief Technology Officer at Wahu Mobility (Kenya).

    10-year-old boy electrocuted to death in Blackpool seafront hotel

    A 10-year-old boy passed away from an electric shock at a hotel by the sea in Blackpool, the police have confirmed.

    The incident occurred on Sunday night at Tiffany’s Hotel, and the emergency services were informed and came to the location.

    He went to the hospital and was in very serious condition but passed away yesterday with his family present.

    The police in Lancashire said that a young boy has passed away after something happened at a hotel in Blackpool.

    We received a call at 10. 39pm on Sunday about a ten-year-old boy who was found unconscious in a hotel at the Promenade in Blackpool.

    He was brought to the hospital with injuries which suggest he had been exposed to a powerful electrical charge. Unfortunately, he passed away in the hospital on Thursday, September 7.

    His family was near him in the hospital and we are sending good wishes to them right now.

    The police looked into the incident and now the local government is handling it.

    The coroner needs to create a file now.

    A person who speaks for Tiffany’s Hotel said: “We are very sad about what happened when a child got shocked on Sunday evening in our reception lounge. ” We are thinking of the child and their family during this sad time.

    We want to make sure everyone knows that keeping our guests and team members healthy and safe is the most important thing to us. We have decided to close temporarily so we can inspect everything ourselves.

    ‘We are still accepting phone calls and we are cooperating closely with the Blackpool Council and local enforcement to help with their investigation. ‘
