I’m really glad I involved my mum in my music business – Efya

Ghanaian singer and songwriter Jane Afia Awindor, widely known as Efya, has expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support and guidance she continues to receive from her mother, Nana Adwoa Awindor, in her music career.

In an interview with Nana Romeo on May 7, 2025, Efya revealed that her mother has been instrumental in shaping both the artistic and business aspects of her journey in the entertainment industry.

“Definitely my mum. I’m very grateful for her. She’s been a strong support system,” Efya stated. “She’s guided me through the business to make sure I’m well established. She’s very knowledgeable about everything we’re dealing with because this is also a business for us. I’m really glad I involved her in it.”

Efya highlighted that beyond being a source of emotional strength, her mother plays an active role in ensuring her music career is managed professionally and strategically. Nana Adwoa Awindor, a respected figure in Ghanaian media, is known for her depth of experience and leadership, qualities that Efya believes have had a positive impact on her career direction.

The “Best in Me” hitmaker also acknowledged the support she’s received from fellow artists in the industry over the years. She noted that the mutual support among musicians is something she doesn’t take for granted.

“Everybody has been supportive, I can’t nail it down. Every time I’ve invited any artiste to come support me at a show, the people that show up for me—I’m very grateful,” she said. “I’m supportive myself, so the same way I support others, they are always supportive of me.”

Efya emphasized the importance of valuing time and effort, especially in an industry where schedules are demanding. “I know everybody is busy, everybody has their own lives they’re living aside the music, so when people make time for you, just be grateful,” she added.

  • I’ve helped fans, but never given $5,000 like Davido – Efya

I’ve helped fans, but never given $5,000 like Davido – Efya

Ghanaian singer Efya has admitted she’s never given a fan as much as $5,000, like Nigerian star Davido recently did — not because she wouldn’t want to, but because of the financial gap between Ghanaian and Nigerian musicians.

“I’ve helped fans by paying their fees and buying them things, but no, I’ve never given out $5,000 to a fan,” Efya said during an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra FM.

Her comment came in response to Davido’s headline-making gesture, where he gifted a Ghanaian fan $5,000 for promoting his song “With You,” featuring Omah Lay.

While emphasizing that many Ghanaian artistes do offer help to fans, Efya explained that they often prefer to do so privately — and that, unlike their Nigerian counterparts, they don’t always have the means for such large giveaways.

“Most Ghanaian artistes do give their fans money, but they just don’t like to bring it to the public attention. We don’t have enough money like the Nigerians to be able to engage in such giveaways,” she stated. “Even though we rock shoulders with the Nigerians, I don’t think financially it is the same, I don’t mind admitting that.”

Efya also pointed out that Nigerian artistes tend to earn more due to the scale of the shows they perform at globally, which puts them in a better position financially.

“We don’t get paid the same way they get paid because they are playing bigger shows,” she noted.

She urged for greater support within Ghana’s music industry to help local talents access bigger platforms and better financial returns.

“Which is why we need to support each other more so that we can get on bigger platforms to be able to be collecting enough money so we can be dashing our fans 5000,” she added.

  • It’s a warzone, and I don’t have the Vim – Efya on why she avoids industry battles

It’s a warzone, and I don’t have the Vim – Efya on why she avoids industry battles

Ghanaian singer Efya has opened up about her disinterest in engaging in controversies or feuds within the entertainment industry, describing the space as a “warzone” that she simply doesn’t have the strength or heart to endure.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra FM, the soulful vocalist shared her candid thoughts after music enthusiast and industry player Ayisha Modi sent a message through the host to let her know she was tuned in.

Efya responded with warmth, giving Ayisha a shoutout and acknowledging the vital role she and others play in keeping the entertainment scene active and exciting.

“What Ayisha Modi and the others are doing is what makes the game nice. Because someone like me won’t get into a battle with anyone. It’s a battle, it’s a warzone, and I don’t have the heart or the vim for it,” she stated.

While Efya maintained her stance against personal drama, she also made it clear that she respects individuals like Ayisha Modi who boldly stir conversations and push narratives within the industry.

“In situations like that, I’ll just cry,” she said with a chuckle, indicating her preference for peace over public sparring.

The award-winning singer further emphasized that she values healthy competition among artists — the type that inspires and motivates rather than breeds conflict or violence.

“I enjoy healthy competition to boost your energy, as long as it doesn’t get negative and violent. We don’t condone violence, but strength to all the warriors,” Efya added.

Her comments come amid a series of headline-grabbing rants by Ayisha Modi, who has recently accused some entertainment figures of betrayal while recounting the sacrifices she has made to support Ghana’s showbiz landscape.

Efya’s remarks offer a glimpse into the emotional toll the entertainment world can have on artists who prefer to let their work speak for itself — and a reminder that behind every voice is a choice for peace over provocation.

Efya mocks Cheddar’s sea plans for Kumasi

Singer Efya Nokturnal has responded to the suggestion made by New Force Movement leader Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, regarding the dredging of a sea in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region.

On her official X account on March 19, 2024, she posed a question, asking whether Cheddar had received a specific request from the people before announcing his proposal publicly.

“Did the people in Kumasi say they want a beach?” her post read. Her question elicited comical responses largely.

“Lowkey they want it but they’re pretending,” one user responded, while another tweeted: “Question for the gods.”

Another had a lengthy take about why Cheddar had a good point and needed not be ridiculed: “And did Cheddar say he is bringing the sea because of a beach?

“Despite the fact the we feel what Cheddar said it’s impossible in our country, we shouldn’t make mockery of it, man made some good point citing Dubai as an example. We don’t just have the money to do that here,” he submitted.

    What Cheddar said:

During an interview with Abusua FM in Kumasi, Cheddar expressed that the “sea to Kumasi” vision is integral to his goal of enhancing trade by connecting Ghana’s Eastern and Western corridors.

“I have travelled far and wide. I have seen many countries do that. Even Dubai which was a typical desert now has the sea. That is the kind of vision I have for the Ashanti Region. When we dredge the sea to the region, ships can dock in Kumasi,” he stated.

  • “Bro! The standards have fallen so low!” – Efya reacts to aired sexual acts on live Tv

“Bro! The standards have fallen so low!” – Efya reacts to aired sexual acts on live Tv

Renowned Ghanaian songstress, Efya, has joined the chorus of disapproval regarding the airing of sexual acts on a live show on United Television.

In a viral video circulating on Ghpage.com, a woman is observed engaging in explicit behavior with a dildo, while a man fondles her genitals through her sheer attire.

Reports indicate that the footage originates from the ‘Red Light’ program, hosted by Ghanaian actress Vickie Zugah on UTV.

The video has sparked widespread criticism across various social media platforms.

In response, Efya expressed her dismay, highlighting the lack of sensibility in showcasing such explicit content on national television, disregarding the fact that both young people and adults are viewers.

“Why are there live sexual acts being telecasted on national television?! Ugh, why? Mehn!,” the musician posted.

Efya suggests that the prevalence of certain events in modern Ghanaian society indicates a concerning decline in values, implying that if things weren’t so readily accessible or cheapened, such occurrences wouldn’t be as common.

“Bro! The standards have fallen so low!”, she added.

“Do you know how much your daughter disgraces herself at night? – Blakk Rasta quizess Nana Adwoa Awindor

Popular radio host and musician Blakk Rasta has blasted Efya‘s mother for allegedly supporting her daughter’s reckless lifestyle.

In his opinion, it would be in the best interests of everyone if Madam Nana Adwoa Awindor admitted to her daughter that she needs help instead of hiding her acts.

In a previous interview with Joyprime, Mrs. Awindor bemoaned the fact that they had lost business because of the reputation her daughter had acquired as a “drug addict.”

She also addressed the naysayers who consistently criticise her daughter while disputing the false reports.

However, Blakk Rasta reacting to this, has called such claims a mere PR gimmick

He stressed that concealing Efya’s condition could send her to an early grave.

“Do you know how much your daughter disgraces herself night and day? She recently was in London, and we all heard what happened in London, but we kept it down because it is not in anybody’s interest to talk ill about anyone. What do we stand to gain from that?

“I believe that if I was part of the family, we would’ve tried to do something better rather than PR gimmicks that are so irresponsible. She is a drug addict. It is a condition that can be dealt with, but it doesn’t mean she is useless. Own up to it. This PR gimmick is so lame and useless. Very soon if you’re not careful we’re going to bury Efya and then you’re going to come crying. Please your daughter is sick. Find a way of dealing with it,” Blakk Rasta fumed during his show on 3FM.

Efya lost huge deals because of bad publicity – Nana Adwoa Awindor

Nanahemaa Adwoa Awindor, host of the well-liked television programme “Greetings from Abroad,” has described how her daughter missed out on a significant project because of unfounded rumours.

Her daughter, popular singer and songwriter Jane Afia Awindor, popularly known as Efya, has been criticised online for her lifestyle.

The mother claims that the singer has suffered greatly in her career as a result of some of these rumours, which she has publicly denied. This can be extremely devastating and has a significant impact on the singer as well.

In an interview with Joy Prime’s Prime Morning, she described how Efya was in the middle of a significant business deal but lost the project after the investor heard untrue, defamatory rumours about her.

“One of the instances we were working on a project, a huge project and this broke it, the project didn’t happen and as a mother, I’ll feel bad about it.”

Nana Adwoa Awindor, while shedding tears, spoke about her life, and Efya revealed that some investors who want to back the singer and invest in her talent occasionally change their minds after hearing some of these rumours about her.

“These are instances where you’re working on something, sometimes we’re working on something that should push her somewhere and these things come up, that’s why I was saying earlier that we have to be careful the way we do and say things because you never know the effect,” she added.

“If you’re an investor and you want to invest in somebody and you hear things about the person, whether it’s true or not, before you say jack you may have taken a step back to check it, so yes, it does affect us.”

She claims, though, that she constantly urges Efya to keep going, to pray, and to concentrate on her career because God has better things in store for her.

“I know my daughter, I just tell her not to follow it, just take it in and pray about it, it will die off.”

“Like I said, the better part of us is yet to come not what is gone, I don’t believe in that, I believe in what is ahead and is bigger and better, so we’re praying for her,” she said.

The mother of the singer who is also a Queenmother at Afigya-Kwabre in the Ashanti Region, further added that she has no regrets about Efya going into the music industry.

She pledged her support as a mother even if Efya decides to venture into something else.

“Beefs” are a waste of time – Efya

Despite the constant drama and controversies that surround the entertainment industry, Ghanaian songstress Efya stands out from the rest.

In a recent interview, she candidly shared her philosophy of ignoring negativity in favor of focusing on her true passions, especially farming.
She firmly stated, “I don’t buy into the whole drama hype. It’s just a waste of precious energy that could be better spent on my farming endeavors, something I’m genuinely interested in.”

Throughout her illustrious career, Efya has faced her fair share of rumors and criticisms from people who may not fully grasp her unique experiences and journey. Reflecting on her past, she revealed, “When I was younger, people would say things about me without really knowing the truth or understanding what I’ve been through.”

However, Efya has learned to tune out the noise and firmly resist giving undue attention to unfounded controversies.

She confidently shared, “Even now, I still hear people talking about me without any validated facts, but I’ve learned not to pay attention to it. It doesn’t bring any positive energy, and I believe it’s essential not to feed into anything that doesn’t make me feel great.”

Despite being entangled in a feud with fellow musician Black, the super hitmaker Efya’s commitment to avoiding drama was put to the ultimate test. However, she demonstrated maturity and humility by taking the high road, offering an apology, and eventually reconciling with the radio presenter.

During an interview on GHone TV, Efya was asked about her knowledge of Blakk Rasta, to which she initially responded that she didn’t know him. However, upon hearing one of his popular songs, ‘Barack Obama,’ she recognized the name and realized it sounded familiar. Her ability to acknowledge her initial mistake and gracefully reconcile with Blakk Rasta showcased her respect for him and exemplified her personal growth.

Despite making sincere efforts to avoid controversies, Efya has continuously faced unfounded allegations of drug use throughout her musical journey. Most recently, during the live recording of her new single on Glitch Africa, rumors about her alleged drug use spread across social media and blogs, prompting various comments about her career and appearance.

Efya remains resilient and refuses to let baseless rumors define her or diminish her passion for her craft. Instead, she stands firm, staying true to her principles, and continues to bring positivity and inspiration through her music and dedication to farming.

  • Efya clarifies bullgod’s comment on not performing on international stages

Efya clarifies bullgod’s comment on not performing on international stages

Amidst the ongoing discussion about Nigerian musician Wizkid’s successful international gigs, Ghanaian songstress Efya has provided insights into her association with the renowned artist. Addressing recent concerns raised by Bullgod, an artist manager, Efya clarified that she and R2bees were not present on stage with Wizkid at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite their close bond with the Nigerian musician.

While the absence of Efya and R2bees may have sparked curiosity, it is essential to remember that the dynamics of music events can vary, and artists’ appearances are often influenced by scheduling, logistics, and other factors. Despite not sharing the stage on that particular occasion, the friendship and rapport between the Ghanaian acts and Wizkid remain strong, reflecting the camaraderie and collaboration prevalent within the African music industry.

The owner of Bullhaus Entertainment couldn’t comprehend why these two Ghanaian musicians, who often spend quality time with Wizkid whenever he is in Ghana, were conspicuously absent during his international performances.

“So @r2beesmusic and @efya_nokturnal will smoke, drink and chill with @wizkidayo anytime he’s in Ghana but can’t join him on international stages and showcase their talents to the world?” a bemused Bullgod asked.

“Again, Ghana missed out on national duties at the 62,850 capacity Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, yesterday. What is wrong with us?” he added.

The post garnered more reactions, setting the tone for a discussion on various radio and television entertainment talk shows.

In response, Efya took to Twitter to set the records straight, shedding light on the complexities that surround musicians’ schedules and commitments.

She explained that various factors, including scheduling conflicts, prior commitments, and logistical constraints, can make it challenging to accompany Wizkid on every single performance on big stages.

“When it comes to performing on big stages, there are various factors involved that people may not be aware of. Scheduling conflicts, prior commitments, and logistical constraints sometimes make it challenging to accompany Wizkid on every single performance.

“It doesn’t diminish my dedication or the fact that I have also played on countless international stages,” Efya emphasized.

BullGod lashes out at EFya and R2Bees for not extending their craft on international stages

Showbiz critic, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, also known as BullGod has criticized Ghanaian artists for not taking advantage of international stages.

In a Facebook post, Bullgod alleged that R2Bees and Efya only enjoy leisure time with Nigerian artist Wizkid whenever he visits Ghana. He expressed his frustration at the fact that they haven’t utilized such opportunities to showcase their talents on international stages.

Bullgod questioned why Ghana missed out on being represented at WizKid’s sold-out concert at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, which has a capacity of 62,850 people. He rhetorically asked what was wrong with the Ghanaian music industry.

“Again Ghana missed out on national duties at the 62,850-capacity Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, yesterday.

    “What is wrong with us?,”

However, there was a quick confirmation that Ghanaian singer King Promise did perform at WizKid’s concert in London, contradicting Bullgod’s claim about Ghanaian artists missing out on the opportunity.

  • “Efya lacks zeal and urgency”-  Arnold Asamoah Baidoo

“Efya lacks zeal and urgency”-  Arnold Asamoah Baidoo

Entertainment pundit, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, has voiced his disappointment regarding Ghanaian singer Efya’s apparent lack of presence on the global stage.

Arnold suggests that her limited international exposure is a result of her perceived lack of drive to seize opportunities and expand her horizons within the music industry.

He explained that Efya’s success is not at its peak because she is not putting much effort into her craft despite having a great voice and being a good stage performer.

In a write up titled, “Efya & drug-use tag: Take action”, and published in the recent edition of Graphic Showbiz, Arnold expressed frustrations at Efya’s inability to hit the global stage at a time when the likes of Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage and TEMS are breaking barriers.

He wrote: “Efya has been in this industry for close to 13 years, commanding such incredible talent but she is yet to sign any lucrative record deal or endorsement deal. One of Efya’s major problems has nothing to do with drug use or its abuse. It is an issue many have not paid attention to; her lack of activity, zeal and urgency. Many have over the years argued that, with such talent and swagger, Efya should have been bigger than the likes of Tiwa Savage and TEMS and they are right! Unfortunately, she seems overly comfortable, lazy, not hungry enough and lacks drive”.

Arnold further noted that even though the Best in Me singer started commercial music in 2008 after placing second in Stars of the Future music reality show and has been in the spotlight ever since, Efya appears unenthused at becoming one of the most renowned female artistes in the last decade and beyond.

She equally seems uninterested for international exploits when she has huge potentials.

“Quite incredulously, in such a competitive industry, Efya has only one, just one album to her credit plus one mixtape.  How do you compete with such? Unless you are a Lauryn Hill in a well-structured industry where she can drop one classic solo album and go to sleep, knowing very well you can survive on shows, royalties and licensing deals. Unfortunately, Efya is no damn Lauryn Hill and is stuck in a higgledy-piggledy industry. Step up!

  •  You don’t know the scriptures more than me’ – Efya on ‘secular artiste’ stereotype

You don’t know the scriptures more than me’ – Efya on ‘secular artiste’ stereotype

Despite the preconceptions associated with being a secular artist, Ghanaian musician Efya has openly disclosed that she identifies herself as a child of God and has even attended Bible school, emphasizing her spiritual connection and personal faith.

Speaking with Berla Mundi on TV3’s The Day Show, Efya took the opportunity to address the misconception that the ‘secular musician’ tag inhibits one from exploring gospel music.

Sharing her frustration, Efya recounted an incident where she faced criticism for collaborating with a gospel artiste.

She passionately expressed her thoughts, saying, “I did a song with the gospel artist, and they came at me and her, asking why she would collaborate with a secular artist like me. This is what I’m talking about.

“What’s that about? Can I not do gospel music? Are we serious? I am a Child of God. What are you saying? I have the power in me. I went to Bible School. You can’t know Bible more than me.”

Efya emphasized that the term ‘secular’ should not be automatically associated with being devilish.

She urged people to stop labeling it as such and recognized the need for a shift in mindset.

Expressing her disappointment, she observed that often, Ghanaians tend to focus on the negative aspects rather than acknowledging her achievements in the music industry.

She pointed out that despite her numerous awards and being the first female artist to break records, people tend to overlook these accomplishments.

Encouraging a change in perspective, she called on Ghanaians to redirect their attention towards positive opinions.

I respect Blakk Rasta for his job and everything he does – Efya

Ghanaian Neo-Soul and Afro-Soul singer Efya, as she is known in the music business, has professed her admiration and love for Blakk Rasta, a well-known radio host and performer.

In her words, Blakk Rasta is a person she respects and there is no way she will ever forget to know him and his contributions to the industry.

She stated: “Oh yes, I’ll never not know that man ever again in my life. I’ll know him every day, forever and ever and I pay respect to him for his job and everything he does.”

As earlier reported by GhanaWeb, on February 2, 2023, Efya in an interview with GHone TV was quizzed if she knew the radio presenter, Blakk Rasta.

In her response, she answered by saying that she doesn’t know him including Blakk Rasta’s personality and his works.

She said: Who is that? He is a rapper; he is what? He’s a radio journalist? But journalists say what they want. They don’t care. I don’t think I know who he is. What does he do, radio?

The host in order to help the singer recall the radio presenter sang Blakk Rasta’s popular song, ‘Barack Obama’ that was when she remembered the name sounded familiar to him.

“Oh, that funny man, yeah yeah yeah. He does funny songs, right? Listen, everyone for himself, God for us all”, she stated.

Blakk Rasta then replied to the comment she passed but was livid when Efya said he does funny songs. This, therefore, generated some tension between the singer and the radio presenter.

Efya, in an interview with Asempa 94.7 cleared the air by stating that she mistook Blakk Rasta for someone else which is why she denied knowing him earlier on.

She said: “I mistook him for someone else, yeah that is why”.

  • “I could sing for 30 hours if I want to break the record” – Efya

“I could sing for 30 hours if I want to break the record” – Efya

Efya, the renowned Ghanaian singer, is embarking on an extraordinary mission to establish a new world record for the longest song ever created. This ambitious endeavor has been sparked by the inspiring accomplishment of Hilda Baci, who recently shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.

Hilda, a Nigerian chef, surpassed the previous record set by Indian chef Lata Tondon in 2019 by reaching the 100-hour mark. The news has sparked discussions worldwide, particularly among Nigerians and Ghanaians.

Efya believes she can contribute to Ghana’s record-breaking endeavors through her singing. She envisions creating the longest recorded song, explaining that it doesn’t require her to sing continuously on her feet.

Drawing inspiration from Hilda, the singer believes she could sing for several days or sustain a note for an extended period.

“If I can break a record, it will be for the longest song. Sometimes you can do the longest song recorded. I don’t have to be on my feet singing continuously. I could sing for a couple of days; I could hold a note for long. These dirges we have in Ghana are an example, we have 15 minutes of such songs. I could sing for 30 hours if I want to break the record. Hilda recorded 100 hours because she was cooking,” she told Abeiku Santana.

The Ghanaian neo-soul singer said the only challenge, perhaps, is she might not be allowed to recruit other people to participate in it.

“The challenge is that you might have to be the only one to sing. Maybe we might not be allowed to tag other people in it because it will seem easy and another country can beat us easily over it,” she added.

Despite this potential hurdle, Efya remains determined to break the record and bring pride to Ghana through her musical feat.

Ghanaian singer, Efya, has expressed her desire to set a world record for the longest song ever.

This follows Hilda Baci’s feat of breaking the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon”.

The Nigerian chef reached a 100-hour mark surpassing the record previously held by Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who achieved the feat in 2019.

Netizens online, particularly Nigerians, have since not kept calm over the development which has triggered discussions worldwide.

However, Efya, believes she could also set a world record for Ghana, but through singing.

“If I can break a record, it will be for the longest song. Sometimes you can do the longest song recorded. I don’t have to be on my feet singing continuously. “My heart was broken,” she said to the shock of host, AJ.

According to the award-winning songbird and a self-proclaimed “baby girl,” her emotional well-being has a significant influence on her artistry hence her refusal to confront her pain through music and rather take a step back from the spotlight.

“I was heartbroken that I didn’t want to sing. You know I’m a baby girl so the way I feel matters to me a lot and it wasn’t something I wanted to deal with at that time,” she revealed

Blakk Rasta tackles Efya after she described his songs as ‘funny’

Blakk Rasta has reacted to a recent comment passed about his music by Ghanaian songstress Efya.

He had a few things to get off his chest after Efya described his music as funny, which he strongly countered.

This week has witnessed two Ghanaian artistes dominating social media trends.

In an interview with GHONE TV, Efya stated that she had no idea who Blakk Rasta was, but went on to describe his music as amusing.

Her statement was influenced by Blakk’s ‘harsh’ comment about Sarkodie’s feature with Bob Marley.

“Who is that? He’s a rapper; he’s a what?…he’s a radio journalist?… But journalists say what they want they don’t care. I don’t think I know who he is. What does he do, radio?… Oh that funny man, yeah yeah yeah. He does funny songs, right? Listen, everyone for himself, God for us all,” these were the words of Efya.

In Blakk’s response on his radio show on 3FM, the reggae musician noted that he doesn’t take offence when people don’t recognize him; however, the claim that he does funny music “is all wrong”.

“Listen Blakk Rasta is a man you can describe using anything but to describe my music as funny, I think that she got it all wrong…again when I looked at her face, I saw some genuineness. I don’t think she intended to embarrass Blakk Rasta, she is just not aware of her environment,” he jabbed.

According to the reggae singer famed for his song titled ‘Barack Obama’, the female vocalist has abused drugs all her life and can’t be blamed when she spews nonsense on television.

“I am not that kind of artiste who is haughty…When I looked at the video, I sympathized with Efya. She looked so morose and totally hypnotized like somebody swallowed up by drugs.”

He added: “She said that Blakk Rasta is the guy who does funny songs. Surprisingly a number of people were sending me this video, talking about it. Some were angry, but hear me now, listen; I am not angry when people do not recognize me, never. That is why people say Blakk Rasta is so humble and I believe that I am humble. I thank God the Almighty Father for making me humble.”

  • Conversation about Efya buying Moesha’s car at cheaper price resurfaces

One issue that courted controversy in July 2021 was a claim that Efya had bought Moesha Boduong’s car at a cheap price but the socialite has said the musician only served as an intermediary between her and the buyer.

A few days after Moesha announced she was a born-again Christian, the actress and socialite did not only burn some amount of money she had earned; she also gave some of her items to the needy as “directed by God” and sold her Range Rover Vogue because she “wanted to change it to get a better one”.

Rumors were rife that Moesha sold her Range Rover at a cheap price to Efya, a situation that engendered controversy.

In her interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso on the 2022 Christmas edition of The Delay Show, however, Moesha defended Efya as she refuted the claim.

According to her, Efya did not buy the car but got her a buyer.

Efya was the only one that got me a good buyer and she was really happy because she knew I didn’t like the car. Efya was the one that got me the best price,” said Moesha in the interview monitored by GhanaWeb.

It will be recalled that when the issue was tabled for a discussion on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review in July 2021, Kofi Asamoah, a filmmaker and close associate to Moesha said Efya did not buy the car; rather a musician who works with Efya.

“The Range Rover Vogue was not purchased by Efya. Efya only served as a ‘middlewoman’ for whoever bought the car. Efya is not the owner of the car. It was another musician. It was another artiste who at the time was working with Efya. She didn’t buy the car for herself as many people think.”

Although Kofi Asamoah refused to reveal the true identity of the artiste who has acquired Moesha’s Range Rover, he stated that: “As for the person who bought the car, we are withholding his identity for now. We’ll reveal his or her identity at the right time.”https://www.youtube.com/embed/GHeder6WGnU

Gyakie, Darkovibes, Efya, Asaaka Boys and other Ghanaian musicians thrilled fans at the just-ended Wizkid Live Concert on Saturday (December 10, 2022) at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The concert came off with amazing performances despite the absence of the headliner, Wizkid.

The Nigerian singer, who was supposed to perform last night, had about 5,000 people waiting for him, but he failed to show up.

Fans waited for long hours just to see Wizkid perform. The Grammy Award winner, real name Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, was nowhere to be found as of 3 a.m.

One could see the disappointment on the faces of patrons characterised by feelings of sadness, loss, anger and frustration as the man of the moment did not show up to perform.

YawTog, Asakaa Boys, Gyakie, Darkovibes, were heroes on the night as they gave patrons a run for their money with their electrifying performances in the midst of the painful wait.

The MC for the night, Kojo Manuel did his best to keep the fans entertained. Wizkid’s official Disc Jockey, ‘DJ Tunez’, also took over the stage with some live band tunes, expectations were high and the mood was energized as many thought the ‘Essence’ hitmaker was next.

According to reports, Wizkid failed to perform because the organizers of the show failed to fill the stadium to the brim.

  • Disappointed patrons ‘crucify’ Wizkid for abandoning a ‘huge’ concert in Accra

After 12 hours of waiting for Wizkid, the headliner of a just-ended concert that took place at the Accra Sports Stadium, patrons appear enraged about the fact that the Nigerian singer failed to show up on stage.

The over 5,000 patrons gathered at the Accra Sports Stadium were left in shock and disappointment at 4 am on December 11, 2022, when the technical team began dissembling some of the equipment on stage at the ‘Wizkid live’ music concert without addressing the crowd, who were left in confusion.

As they waited indefinitely for Wizkid to mount the stage since 4pm the previous day, the atmosphere was filled with bitterness and rage from the audience who either requested a refund or insisted on witnessing the ‘Starboy’ on stage before they leave.

Several performances were witnessed from the likes of Gyakie, Efya, Darkovibes and so on, except the man of the moment.

It was reported that when Wizkid’s official Disc Jockey, ‘DJ Tunez’, took over the stage with some live band tunes, expectations went high and the mood was energized as many thought the ‘Essence’ hitmaker was next.

But, as the live band mixes began to take longer than expected, the crowd’s enthusiasm began to die down and yet still, the organizers failed to offer proper communication to inform them about WizKid’s development.

It was said that the crowd was left in limbo until about 3:47am when Wizkid’s official DJ, screamed twice ‘the promoter fucked up’ over Black Sherif’s “Kwaku the Traveller,” and that was when the crowd got the memo.

Rumours were rife that Wizkid was unsatisfied with the attendance and the fact that it could destroy his ‘Sold out king’ track record, hence his absence.

Shortly after that, rumours that Wizkid wouldn’t be performing due to the ‘below standard’ attendance began circulating on social media and patrons began trooping out of the stadium whiles venting their hearts out.

However, Wizkid is yet to either issue a statement, post an update or an apology on any of his social media platforms regarding his absence at the concert.

  • GRAMMY CEO gives artistes guidebook to winning a GRAMMY Award

Grammy Awards CEO, Harvey Mason Jr, during an exclusive dinner meeting with artistes has explained how a musician can win a GRAMMY.

According to the GRAMMY boss, to win a GRAMMY, one needs to live in the United States of America and be a part of the GRAMMY Academy.

“In order to win a GRAMMY, first, you’ve got to be part of the Academy and then the membership of the Academy will vote for you.

“If you are a member of the Academy, you’ve got to be a professional in the United States, for now, the United States,” he disclosed.

He also noted that once an artiste makes music and will live in the US, he can now submit his works to the GRAMMY Academy board which is made up of different artistes.

When the submission is finished, he referenced that these artistes assess their own companions and get to pick whose music they like better.

“Right now, if you are a working professional in the United States, you become a member of the Recording Academy, once you are a member of the Recording Academy, all the music is submitted, the members listen to it and you are evaluated on the quality of the art.

“Not the sales, not the streams, not the how many fans, not the how many followers but purely on the opinion, and it’s very hard. As you all know because it’s subjective,” he added.

He, moreover, expressed that artistes needn’t bother to be with a recording label or have a huge fanbase, simply their unadulterated ability is sufficient to win them an award with the GRAMMY.

“So Best Song, Best Record, just the opinion of the membership in that particular year and that’s how you win a GRAMMY.

“That’s it, the vote is the vote. There’s no committee, there are no journalists, no labels, just music professionals voting for their peers. Period,” he noted.

Present at the dinner were the likes of Efya, Sarkodie, Tems, Edem, MOG Music among many other artistes.
