  • Hesse Odamtten appointed Hearts of Oak assistant coach

    Hesse Odamtten has been appointed as the new assistant coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, according to footballmadeinghana.com.

    Odamtten is a legend of the Phobians and he comes in with a CAF License A certificate to augment the technical team of Edward Nii Odoom.

    The club has been without an assistant coach for close to a year since Nii Odoom assumed the role of a head coach following the sacking of Kim Grant in the truncated 2019/20 Ghana Prenmier League.

    Ex-coach Grant also did not have a substantive assistant during his tenure at the club.

    The development is to sharpen the team ahead of the upcoming Ghana Premier League season which is set to start in October.

    According to Footballmadeinghana.com, Hearts of Oak are likely to pick another manager who will assume the substantive role for Odoom to revert to his original portfolio as a youth development coach.

  • Hearts coach Odoom calls for calm after Sharks stalemate

    Hearts of Oak coach Edward Nii Odoom has called for calm after their stalemate with Elmina Sharks.

    The Phobians failed to take advantage of their home game as they played a 1-1 draw with the visitors.

    The visitors took a surprise lead via a corner taken in the fourteenth minute which found Dennis Mensah who fired home from just outside the box.

    Elmina Sharks failed to hold their lines as Kofi Kordzi headed home the equalizer for the Phobians from a corner in the 38th minute.

    After the game, a section of the disappointed fans of Hearts of Oak called for the head of the coach.

    Addressing the media, Odoom said he was unhappy with the outcome of the game.

    “I think we have disappointed our fans very well, this is one match we should have won because we promised ourselves that the five matches here is operation 15 points and today’s result means we have disappointed everybody.

    “It is a very bad day, I will plead with the supporters that they should be very patient with us in fact it is a very difficult moment with us.”

    Sunday’s draw meant the Phobians, have recorded a single win in their last five league games, remain glued to 8th position on the log with 17 points.

    They next play as guest to Inter Allies at the Accra Sports Stadium.

  • We have four clean-sheets – Hearts coach fires back at critics

    Interim coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Edward Nii Odoom has fired back at critics who describe his players as defensively poor despite a goalless draw against Karela United on Wednesday.

    The experienced trainer says critics must be constructive in their submissions about his team, confirming they have kept four clean sheets.

    “With the exception of the result against Bechem United that saw us giving two goals away we have managed to put together four clean sheets so far this season,” he said after the draw against Karela United. “People will say that we make mistakes but they are part of mistakes. What we will do is to correct them and that is our job.

    “I need to add that the same players people criticise are the same players who helped us keep those clean sheets.” The Phobians are on a run of five games without defeat, but have only won two and drawn three.

    Hearts are currently seventh on the Premier League table, five points adrift of leaders Ashantigold.

  • Hearts of Oak players earn praises from manager Edward Nii Odoom

    Edward Nii Odoom, the stop gab coach of Hearts of Oak has lauded his player for sticking to their game plan in their matchday seven fixtures against Dreams FC.

    The Phobians returned to winning ways after their 2:1 lose to Asante Kotoko.

    Harts of Oak pipped Dreams FC 1-0 at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu on Sunday.

    In his post-match presser, Odoom said, “It was a good game for us and after losing to Kotoko, our aim is to bounce back to winning ways.

    “The players did very well. Our tactics worked as planned.

    Kofi Kordzi got the goal in the second half after he received the ball just inside the penalty area and shot on the turn to win the match for the visitor.

    “We planned to play them on the counter when they lose the ball and I think my players did a great job,” he added.

    The win on Sunday has sent Hearts of Oak to the 9th position with 10 points.

    Hearts of Oak will host Ashgold in the matchday eight fixtures at the Accra Sports Stadium.
