The son of former NDC flagbearer candidate, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, has failed in his attempt to represent the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the parliamentary candidate in the Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency in the Eastern Region.
Dr Duffuor Jr. lost the primary to Hajia Nasira Afrah by a margin of 8 votes.
Dr. Duffour Jr. received 203 votes, while Nasira Afrah received 211 votes to claim the victory.
Meanwhile, the incumbent Member of Parliament, Dr. Alex Adomako Mensah, polled only 86 votes.
The fourth contender, Professor Edward Brenyah garnered 65 votes.

Following his father’s decision to withdraw from the presidential race after a botched injunction suit against the primaries, some had said Duffuor Jnr. may pay the price for his father’s conduct.
At a press conference on Friday, Duffuor Snr. explained that his decision to withdraw from the race after he withdrew his lawsuit against the party, was based on his grievances with the processes surrounding the primaries; especially the voters’ register.
According to him, the exercise has been marred by a lot of irregularities; a problem that has not been resolved by the leadership of the party.
