  • Derrick Luckassen returns to PSV after Anderlecht loan ends

    Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Derrick Luckassen has returned to his parent club PSV following the expiration of his loan deal with Anderlecht.

    The centre-back joined the Belgian giants on loan from Dutch giants at the start of the season. The loan deal expired on June 30, 2020.

    The 25-year-old has returned hoping to become a regular man when the season commences after a consistent performance in Belgium.

    He made 24 appearances across all competitions and scored one goal.

    It is understood Anderlecht had wanted to keep the player.

    They wanted to make an initial payment of 2 million euro but PSV demanded 3 million euro.

  • Anderlecht want to extend Derrick Luckassen’s loan deal from PSV

    Anderlecht FC are keen to extend Derrick Luckassen’s loan deal from PSV Eindhoven.

    Luckassen, 24, is expected to end his current loan deal with the Belgian giants on June 30.

    But the player is reluctant to return to his parent club, forcing his agent Mino Raiola to hold talks with PSV over his client’s long-term future.

    Raiola is trying to negotiate a deal between PSV and Anderlecht with the latter keen to keep the defender on another loan expedition or permanently sign him.

    The Netherlands-born Ghanaian made 18 appearances for the Purple and White before the Jupiler Pro league was cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

    It is understood that Anderlecht wants to make an initial payment of 2 million Euros to keep the defender, but PSV wants 3 million Euros for the player.

    PSV Eindhoven is yet to agree on the terms given by Anderlecht.

  • Anderlecht preparing bid for PSV defender Derrick Luckassen

    Jupiler Pro League giants Anderlecht are exploring the possibility of making a bid for PSV defender Derrick Luckassen, footballghana.com can exclusively report.

    The 24-year-old joined Anderlecht on loan in the summer of 2019 and after making 18 appearances, the Belgian side are eager to make his move permanent.

    Footballghana.com understands that in the loan deal, Eredivisie side PSV included a purchase option worth close to 5 million euros. Anderlecht do not want to pay that amount due to the negative impact of the coronavirus and will make a lower offer. PSV will be inclined to take the deal as they deem Luckassen surplus to requirements.

    Luckassen revealed to De Telegraaf earlier this year that he does not want to return to the Dutch club.

    “I keep all options open to myself, except going back to PSV. That is no longer an option for me. I don’t feel at home with PSV.”

    Derrick is currently contracted to PSV until 2022.

  • Derrick Luckassen incurs wrath of PSV supporters

    Dutch born Ghanaian defender Derrick Luckassen has incurred the wrath of the PSV supporters chairman for comments about closing the door on a return to his parent club.

    Harrie Timmermans, chairman of Supportersvereniging PSV, is annoyed with the statements of Derrick Luckassen.

    The on loan defender at Anderlecht (24) slammed the door to a return in Eindhoven this week.

    “I keep all options open to myself, except going back to PSV. That is no longer an option for me,” Luckassen told De Telegraaf about his future. “I tried it there twice and it didn’t work out. I don’t feel at home with PSV and I have seen it there.”

    Timmermans read the statements of Luckassen, who is still under contract for two years in Eindhoven, with increasing surprise. “If he also hands in his contract, it is a dude,” said the chairman of the Supporters Association PSV in the Eindhovens Dagblad.

    Luckassen will be loaned to Anderlecht this season by PSV, but will no longer play due to the ended season in Belgium. Last year he played on loan basis with Hertha BSC. Case observers José Fortes Rodriguez and Mino Raiola are looking for a permanent solution for Luckassen.

    Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Derrick Luckassen has reiterated his desire to leave PSV Eindhoven in the summer.

    Luckassen, 24, joined Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht on a season-long deal with an option to buy from PSV Eindhoven due to lack of playing times.

    The versatile guardsman has indicated that he has no plans of returning to the Dutch Eredivisie giants after a unsuccessful spell.

    In an interview with De Telegraaf, Luckassen said he did not feel at home at the club hence would like to continue his career elsewhere.

    Derrick Luckassen still has a contract in Eindhoven until mid 2022.

    He is eligible to play for Ghana despite playing for the Netherlands at the U18, U19, U20 and U21 level.

  • Anderlecht set to extend Derrick Luckassen’s loan spell

    Belgium giants Anderlecht are set to the extend the loan deal of Dutch born Ghanaian defender Derrick Luckassen at the end of the season.

    The 25-year old defender is currently on loan from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, and has impressed markedly forcing the former Belgium champions to trigger an extension of his stay. Anderlecht can make a permanent move by paying five million Euros for the defender.

    Luckassen has made eighteen Jupiler Pro League appearances this season and has made an assist as a defeander.

    His partnership with ex-Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany is solid rock in the heart of defence for Anderlecht.

    It is yet to be known if PSV will recall the towering defender back but the player in previous interviews revealed he is happy in Belgium.

    Luckassen has spent most of his time away from his parent club after a loan spell in Germany last season before moving to Belgium at the beginning of the campaign due to limited play time.

  • CK Akonnor holds talks with Netherlands youth defender Luckassen

    Ghana coach CK Akonnor has held a meeting with Dutch-born defender Derrick Luckassen concerning a possible international future with the Black Stars.

    Born to Ghanaian parents in Amsterdam, the 24-year-old centre-back, who currently plays for Belgian giants Anderlecht, is open to representing the West Africans at senior level after time with his country of birth at youth stage.

    He has played for Oranje at U18, U19, U20 and U21 levels.

    “[Akonnor] spoke with Derrick and [Anderlecht player-coach Vincent] Kompany [during Akonnor’s recent visit to Anderlecht],” a source told Goal.

    “Derrick loves to be in the background [and that’s why their meeting was not publicised]. He [Akonnor] met up with him at Anderlecht.

    “Akonnor spoke with him first before going there [Belgium].”

    Luckassen, on loan from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven, is one of three eligible players for Ghana at Anderlecht.

    After Akonnor’s visit, photos emerged of the coach with Jeremy Doku, 17, and Francis Amuzu, 20, who both currently play for Belgium at youth level.

    The 45-year-old was also spotted with French-born Elisha Owusu who plays for Gent in Belgium.

    Luckassen, who has also had spells with AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands and Hertha Berlin in the German Bundesliga, has made 18 league appearances for Anderlecht so far this seaso – all starts.

    He could be set for a battle with Real Valladolid prodigy Mohammed Salisu, Fortuna Dusseldorf man Kasim Adams, Celta Vigo star Joseph Aidoo and Amiens winter signing Nicholas Opoku for a place in Ghana’s central defence.
