Ghanaians continue to ‘cook’ Maame Yeboah over divorce as her interview with Delay resurfaces

A video has surfaced featuring popular Ghanaian media personality and marriage counsellor, Maame Yeboah Asiedu, discussing her stance on divorce.

The video, from 2020, reveals her belief that divorce should not be the immediate solution to marital challenges.

At that time, she emphasised the importance of working on marriages and suggested that divorce should only be considered when all other options have been thoroughly explored.

The emergence of this video comes amid speculation and allegations regarding her own divorce and subsequent remarriage.

“I don’t believe in divorce; I believe in working out marriages. God has his reasons for putting you in a marriage. Because, come what may, you should be able to work at it.

“Divorce is not an option for me; that is why I always advise people to marry the right people. But if the marriage deteriorates to the point that they can’t go further, then they can understand,” he said.

Maame Yeboah further said that marriages should be unions between mature individuals and should be embarked upon with the right mindset.

“Marriage is for the mature mind. You shouldn’t go into marriage with the mindset that you are a star or a better person than your partner. You will get it all wrong. You are marrying your husband as a normal person and he is marrying you as a normal person.

“Marriage is about one’s mindset; if you have the mindset that you are going to test the waters, it won’t end well.

Maame Yeboah Asiedu has recently addressed the reasons behind her divorce from her previous husband and subsequent remarriage within a year.

She clarified that her husband, Mr. Afriyie, initiated the divorce proceedings in court, and she had no alternative but to comply with it.

Maame Yeboah asserted that she is not a hypocrite and emphasised that she did not initiate the end of the marriage.

Additionally, she highlighted that she is unique in being the only woman to remarry within a year of divorce.

Yvonne Nelson has been at the front-burner of media discussions following the successful launch of her autobiography.

The drama and the twists and turns of this moving story have all the markings of a spellbinding movie script, except that the protagonist, who is an actor, is contending with a reality that intermittently soaks her pillow with tears.

Uncharacteristic of an autobiography, the author comes to her audience stark naked. The book opens the door widely into the life of the author and exposes the good, the bad, and the ugly sides, not only of her life but also of the make-believe world of celebrities.

The launch was graced by many industry stalwarts, businessmen, and politicians, including John Dumelo, Adjetey Anang, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, and Becca. • I made Twi speaking prestigious – Delay

Renowned media personality, Deloris Frimpong Manso known in Showbiz as ‘Delay’, has happily welcomed compliments tagging her as the mastermind behind the popular usage of the Twi language among contemporary Ghanaian media broadcasters.

She hinted that at the time of venturing into television presentation, it was almost a nil-practice finding any Twi language programme being anchored by a youngster until she stepped in.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Pure FM’s ‘Bar4Bar’ host, Kojo Sebor, last Saturday, Delay addressed concerns about her stringent choice of Twi language over English.

She disclosed that her decision to tongue Twi on air was received with hostility and mockery to the extent of being tagged a “villager and weird”, in an era where the English language was the most popular and accepted means of communication on the airwaves.

“Of course, of course, I will boldly chest out to say I have made Twi language usage prestigious on the airwaves. When I came on television the first time, years ago, some people tagged me as a villager and illiterate for speaking Twi.”

“At that time, the likes of Maame Dokono and some oldies were frequenting the Twi language while for the youngsters, the English Language was the thing”, Delay answered.

According to the respected TV Host, this style of presentation made her look like the only cockroach among a peep of chickens in the sight of the public, although she was being ordinary.

“The likes of Wolf, Caroline Simpson, Jeremy, Doreen Andoh and other known faces were all English Speakers and I was like the weird person.”

“But today, corporate brands like Coca-Cola, Vodafone and Ideal Milk are all going along with some appealing Twi slogans for advertisement purposes. Twi has become the new flex,” She intoned.

In addition, she spewed that, “I believe it is the way to go because Germans don’t speak English and Italians don’t utter Turkish. So we need to accept what we have and be proud of it.”

Delay expressed that she was deliberate with presenting in Twi as part of her adopted unique strategy upon stepping into radio work in Accra, to help her appeal to the public eye and attract the needed attention.

“But when I landed at Top Radio, I needed to do something which will attract public attention and I realised I needed to do something different. I was intentional about it; I play on words. So it was intentional and planned, and that gave me the attention.”

Particularly known for her informed and crafted usage of the language, coupled with her poetic jargon, Delay, over the years as a TV and radio broadcaster has significantly amassed public affection for her prowess at speaking the Twi language.

She attributed her remarkableness in speaking Twi to her grandmother, whom she said is behind her acquired knowledge and eloquence.

  • It looks like you can’t find your purpose in life – Delay to Felicia Osei

Her interest keeps changing with age and time raising concerns as to whether or not she has found her purpose in life and if not, when would that moment come.

Felicia Osei, a trained nurse, abandoned the profession because of the kind of things she witnessed at the hospital during her days as a nurse. The product of Adventist Girls taking her turn on The Delay Show chronicled how her interest kept changing up until she landed a job at Media General.

“I’m not enthused about it,” she said in Twi on her decision to leave the health industry. “After school, I did six months clinical. Even with that, I didn’t complete; I stopped along the way, and I didn’t like the job because of what I saw. It was a pity seeing humans in certain conditions.”

The TikTok star’s account in the interview monitored by GhanaWeb evoked a submission from show host, Deloris Frimpong Manso (Delay) who seemed convinced that Felicia is yet to settle.

“You’ve said on several platforms that you were once interested in boxing, you wanted to be a comedian, you wanted to be a nurse, you wanted to be a TV presenter, you now want to go to school. It looks like you can’t find your purpose,” Delay said to Felicia who is now perusing Business Administration at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

On the contrary, Felicia Osei said she knew what she was about taking into cognizance the fact that career paths could change based on many factors.

“Everyone and what they are interested in. When you’re young, you may want to be a lawyer but when you grow to a point, you come to terms with the fact that you didn’t really understand what law is, rather, you liked their attire,” Felicia remarked.

“Now, I want to be a presenter. If I’m a presenter and have a Business Administration certificate and there is a chance somewhere for an administrator or accountant, I think I qualify,” she added, triggering another question from Delay.

“Which means along the way, if something should come up, you’d change your mind. It looks like you’re not stable with your passion. Or?” Delay asked to which Felicia responded “I am. Now, my passion for presenting has developed but growing up, it never crossed my mind. Now, there will not be any ‘along the way’ again.”
