NPP didn’t abandon me when I was ill, ignore rumors of my death – Yaw Adomako Baafi

Yaw Adomako Baafi, the former Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has addressed circulating rumors about his death.

Despite being ill recently, he reports that his health has significantly improved.

Dr. Okyere Ankrah, a lecturer, had called on the NPP to assist Baafi, stating that he was critically ill and in urgent need of medical care.

“Let someone inform the national chairman or the entire national council that they should visit and help Yaw Adomako Baafi because he is critically ill. He has to be sent to a medical facility to receive treatment. I’m saying this with passion because I used to be his roommate in the same room back in the day, and the only party he has served and known is NPP and nothing else. He is in bad shape.”

Dr. Ankrah, who once lived with Baafi, emphasized the former party official’s long-standing dedication and sacrifices for the NPP, including working despite a leg injury.

“I’m stressed on this because of his dedication. Sometime back he had an injury on his leg, but that didn’t deter him from moving to radio stations with that same leg to speak for NPP. He really needs help befall anybody. Let’s help people while they are, he added.

However, Baafi has publicly refuted these claims, stating that he received substantial support from various party members, including Dr. Bawumia and Joseph Asibu.

“Yes, it is true. Recently I was sick and admitted to Korle Bu; subsequently, I was admitted at the University of Ghana Medical Centre. I was not abandoned; I was helped. With God’s intervention, financially and in everything, I was never in lack. With the help of Dr. Bawumia, the President, and especially my brother Joseph Asibu, they all helped. And I am also not financially poor; I am not rich, but the little I do have.

“I am strong now; I’m doing my second masters, and I have been going for lecturers. Recently, I wrote my exams, and then I wake up and I am told that I am dead, the astute communicator said.

He clarified that he was treated at Korle Bu and the University of Ghana Medical Centre and that he is now in good health, pursuing his second master’s degree and continuing his work.

In a video, Baafi debunked the death rumors, expressing gratitude for the support he received and clarifying that he remains alive and well.

“Yesterday I was with my in-coming president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, at Ayawaso. Throughout the campaign I was with my brother Anthony Karbo, so no wonder around 4 to 5 am, Karbo got up, Kofi Tonto got up, Asante Krobea and Dr. Bawumia himself chattered me. How come somebody who was with them yesterday, this morning I should be pronounced dead? I am not dead. So I am grateful to all Ghanaians.”

He emphasized that his recent interactions with prominent figures, including Dr. Bawumia and Anthony Karbo, highlight his continued presence and active involvement.

  • Polls on current economic crisis biased – NPP Communications Director

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Director, Richard Ahiagbah, has downplayed the growing discontent with the Akufo-Addo government, which has been reflected in polls and recent protests.

Speaking on The Point of View, Mr. Ahiagbah maintained that Ghana’s economic crisis has external causes because “the whole world is not going in the right direction.”

A recent poll by Global Info Analytics has indicated that 77 percent of Ghanaians believe the country is heading in the wrong direction.

This comes amid crippling inflation and fuel prices that have left many Ghanaians frustrated.

But Mr. Ahiagbah remarked that “I think polling in this environment is biased, to begin with, because people’s emotions are in a certain place, so you are going to get a predictable outcome.”

“What is really of consequence is the effort and the commitment of the government that is in power who for some reason is caught up in this global economic downturn,” he added.

But responding to Mr. Ahiagbah on the show, the organiser of the recent ‘Ku Me Preko’ protest, Martin Kpebu slammed the NPP communicator’s remarks.

Mr. Kpebu told him: “don’t ever say that in public again because the more you say people are being emotional, the more people will come at you.”

“Our savings, your money in the bank or under your bed, over 60 percent of its value is gone, and you say people are being emotional?”
