    3 dead in communal clash between youth of Bronkong and Afrancho

    Three individuals have tragically lost their lives in a deadly communal clash between the youth of Bronkong and Afrancho in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region. The conflict, marked by brutality, has raised concerns about the escalation of tensions and the need for swift intervention to restore peace in the affected area.

    In a somber incident that transpired on Saturday, December 30, 2023, 

    Witnesses recount that the devastating clash which occurred on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Bronkong was triggered by a confrontation between the youth from the twin communities of Bronkong and Afrancho, which eventually escalated into a deadly and regrettable fight.

    Assembly Member for Kyerease Electoral Area, Hon Joyce Osei Assibey, revealed in an interview that the grim incident resulted in the reported deaths of three individuals. The fatal casualties occurred as a consequence of severe machete wounds sustained during the intense clash.

    She noted that they are yet to find the identities of the deceased and deduce which community the victims might come from.

    The Assembly Member revealed that some seven suspects have been arrested by police in the area.

    She, however, called for calm, as security agencies in the district have taken over the matter to serve justice all affected victims

    10 busted in Chereponi over communal clash at Wenchike

    10 suspects have been arrested in connection with a recent communal clash at Wenchike, a town in Chereponi in the North East Region.

    The clash was said to have occurred as a result of a chieftaincy disagreement between 2 Chokosi factions in the community.

    Four people were killed and over 25 houses were burnt in addition to motorbikes and other property.

    According to the National Disaster Management Organization, over 600 people have been displaced by the violence. Schools remain closed as the community is deserted.

    Speaking to JoyNews, the District Chief Executive, Hajia Zuweiratu Nashiru, said the 10 suspects had been remanded for two weeks to reappear in court. 

    The DCE assured that the suspects will be made to face the law if found guilty.
