  • Hearts of Oak to appoint Dong Bortey as member of technical team

    Hearts of Oak are set to appoint club legend Bernard Dong-Bortey as a member of the technical team, as the Phobians look to step up the rebuilding process.

    Dong-Bortey made over 100 appearances for the Accra club and was instrumental in the club winning four league titles and the CAF Confederation Cup. He was a joint topscorer of the leadue in 2002.

    Phobianews. com can exclusively reveal that, a deal to draft Bortey in the technical team is near completion, although an announcement is not expected to be made any moment now.

    Bortey was earlier today sighted at the club training ground heavily involved in the activities of the technical team.

    The Phobians recently appointed Serbian gaffer Slavko Matic as the head of the technical team.

  • Hearts of Oak will qualify hands down – Dong Bortey assures

    Legendary player Bernard Dong Bortey of Accra Hearts of Oak believes his team will defeat AS Real Bamako and advance to the next round of the CAF Confederations Cup.

    In the opening game, which took place in Mali a week ago, the Phobians fell to the genuine Bamako by a score of 3-0.

    Dong Bortey has stated that he is confidence in the current Hearts of Oak team to overcome the 3-0 deficit in Accra since the club has done it before. This is ahead of the second leg.

    “All I want to say to the players is that they should easily qualify this Sunday.
    In an interview with Hearts of Oak’s media, he claimed, “If they can score five goals, they should be able to.

    “This is something we’ve done it before, so they can also do it. Ours was four goals but theirs is only three so I trust they can do it.

    “I have not entered this station since 2017 and today is my first time since I stopped playing for Hearts of Oak, he added.

    “So, before Dong Bortey will put his leg here on Sunday, trust me we are going to qualify. The spirit there and they are going to qualify because I know what they can do,” he stated.

    Hearts of Oak will play Real Bamako at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 3:00pm.
