Bamboo Processing Factory in Central Region to begin operation after trial

Maxwell Investments Group has successfully completed a trial run of their bamboo processing facility, which holds the promise of generating income for the local population in the Central region and its surrounding areas.

In collaboration with their European partners, this project is set to handle approximately one hundred thousand tonnes of bamboo daily once it reaches full operational capacity.

Dr. Maxwell Ampong, the Chief Executive of the Group, emphasized the importance of continued support from the private sector and various government agencies, recognizing that as a young business, they require further assistance to thrive and reach their goals.

“This is a young initiative we got support from our European partners and we’re looking for about one hundred tonnes of bamboo per day machinery that can take care of the whole country supply because bamboo is technically a weed all over the place and resource identification has really passed over the heads of many people as Africans”.

“The idea is to provide collection points all over our beloved country where people in the rural communities especially can bring few strands of bamboo to get something for breakfast or lunch and this is what excites us at MIG, the impact we can create within various micro-economies spread across the nation,” he disclosed.

The establishment of this facility was driven by the aim of making a positive impact on the lives of people, particularly those in rural areas throughout the country, by providing them with a source of income.

Dr. Ampong emphasized that there is a readily available market for bamboo products in Europe, which underscores the necessity of securing an adequate supply of raw materials for processing.

He firmly believes that the project’s success hinges on the need for support, as it aspires to become a means of livelihood for many individuals.

Additionally, Dr. Ampong hinted at expansion plans for the facility to extend its benefits to a broader population and offer economic support to additional communities.

This Bamboo project represents yet another initiative by Maxwell Investments Group to combat poverty in rural regions, with a particular focus on Zongo and Inner-City communities.
