  • It’s save to marry a virgin if you’re naive about sex – Assemblies of God pastor says

It’s save to marry a virgin if you’re naive about sex – Assemblies of God pastor says

Rev. John Kofi Bosomtwe of the Liberty Assemblies of God in Kumasi has advised men struggling with sexual inexperience or dysfunction to be mindful of their choice of a marriage partner.

According to the pastor, a man who is naïve about sex may find it easier to build intimacy with a virgin, as both partners would learn and grow together. However, he cautioned that marrying a woman with prior sexual experience could present challenges.

Speaking to his congregation in a viral video circulating on social media, Rev. Bosomtwe stressed that sex is a critical aspect of marriage and directly impacts relationship satisfaction.

“The mere fact that you can have an erection does not mean you are capable of having great sex. You need to know how to go about it very well. If you are naïve, marrying a virgin can sometimes save you. But it’s a problem when you marry someone who has already broken her virginity,” he stated during church service.

He urged men facing sexual difficulties to seek proper guidance rather than rushing into marriage without preparation.

“Seek guidance to learn how to handle the situation because the problem is that the woman you are marrying may already have experience. If she is a virgin, then there is no problem; you are safe. But if she has had previous sexual encounters, she may mock you during intercourse,” he cautioned.

The Assemblies of God pastor also highlighted the role of a satisfying sex life in fostering love and generosity between spouses.

“If you have good sex, men become more caring towards their wives and shower them with gifts,” he added.

His remarks have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some agreeing with his perspective, while others argue that a healthy marriage should be built on communication, trust, and mutual understanding rather than sexual history.

  • Ghana’s current challenges are a testament to God’s prophecy – NPP PC

Ghana’s current challenges are a testament to God’s prophecy – NPP PC

The parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Trobu constituency, Gloria Owusu, shared her insights on the economic hardships affecting Ghana and its citizens.

During an interview on Adom FM on September 26, 2024, she attributed the current difficulties to divine intervention, claiming they are part of God’s plan.

She referenced biblical prophecies that foretold such extreme hardships in the end times, emphasizing that these events are destined and cannot be altered by human efforts.

Mr Owusu also drew parallels with the situations in the United Kingdom and Nigeria, highlighting that Ghana is not alone in facing these challenges.

“No one can change what God has written. The hardships we are experiencing are not limited to Ghana but are felt all over the world. God’s word states that there will be hardships in the end times. When I went to deliver my child in the United Kingdom (UK), I visited a shop where I usually buy baby food. I typically purchase 20 boxes, but recently I was told I could only buy 2 tins because times are tough in the UK. However, in Ghana, despite the hardships, as long as you have your money, you can purchase any quantity you wish.

“In Nigeria, an oil refinery was recently opened by Aliko Dangote, but fuel is still scarce. The hardship is everywhere, not just in Ghana alone. Germany, America are all suffering,” she noted.

Gloria Owusu further noted that President Akufo-Addo’s administration has faced significant challenges, citing pandemics and disasters that have adversely affected the nation. She emphasized that these unfortunate events have compounded the hardships currently experienced by Ghanaians.

“Nana Addo’s government is the only government that has been unfortunate to have been met with disasters like the Ukraine-Russia War and COVID-19,” she stressed.

Work hard to attain success, don’t feel entitled – Nana Awindor tells young women

Nanahemaa Nana Adwoa Awindor, a well-known Ghanaian media personality and former host of “Greetings from Abroad,” has urged young women to earn their achievements rather than expecting them based on gender alone.

Speaking at the 2024 Youth Week celebrations held at the Assemblies of God Cedar Mountain Chapel in Accra, Awindor emphasized that merit should be the basis for earning positions.

She stressed that while affirmative action can create pathways for women, success should come from hard work rather than entitlement.

Awindor pointed out that today’s women have more opportunities to advance if they put in the effort and don’t rely on shortcuts or unfair advantages.

“I have said it over and again, as a woman, you don’t have to wait for a position to be given to you because you are a woman. No, the position has to be given to you because you deserve that space.

“You have worked your way to the space. You didn’t backpass, you didn’t bootlick, and you didn’t slip out, and you didn’t do anything ill. You worked your way to that position,” she said.

Reflecting on the progress of Ghanaian women, Awindor highlighted their achievements in high-profile roles within the judiciary and other sectors.

She expressed optimism about future possibilities, noting that women are now aspiring to even greater positions, including vice-presidential and presidential roles.

Awindor concluded by affirming that affirmative action provides hope and a chance to strive for more significant roles, but it should be based on deserving efforts rather than entitlement.

“So this Affirmative Action gives us the opportunity to hope for more. Not for free, but because we deserve to be there so we can all use it, or we can have opportunities available, and it gives us hope. So we can work towards getting a lot more space than we had before,” she said.

  • I am guided by the belief that what God doesn’t allow, won’t occur – NAM 1

I am guided by the belief that what God doesn’t allow, won’t occur – NAM 1

CEO of Brew Marketing Consul and former head of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, known as NAM1, reflected on the challenging six to seven years of court proceedings, attributing his endurance to divine grace.

In an interview with JoyNews’ Richard Kwadwo Nyarko following the court’s dismissal of his no-case application and order to open his defence, NAM1 acknowledged the arduous journey but expressed steadfast reliance on God’s promises.

NAM1 lamented the plight of his customers with locked funds, emphasizing his inability to disburse funds until the criminal proceedings conclude.

He explained, “It has been painfully challenging but of course what doesn’t break you will make you stronger, and I am a believer, you know whatever God doesn’t permit doesn’t happen so it is fine. It is very fine. I am not a person that complains.”

He assured that once legal proceedings conclude, his company would promptly fulfill its financial obligations to customers.

The court, presided over by Justice Ernest Owusu-Dapaah, dismissed NAM1’s no-case application, ruling that both Brew Marketing Consul and Menzgold must present their defence.

“It breaks our heart that people have had to suffer these unintended consequences. It breaks our hearts but we are before a criminal court and if you know what the criminal court establishment is about, it is not a remedial court.

“It is a punitive court and by extension, a reformative court so you come before a criminal court, you are not here to remedy a situation but we have come to pay the debt.”
He gave the assurance that as soon as the process was over, his firm would be happy to fulfil the necessary payment obligations to customers.

  • Assemblies of God church members protest head pastor’s induction, military ‘intervenes’

Assemblies of God church members protest head pastor’s induction, military ‘intervenes’

Tensions flared at the Abundant Life Assemblies of God Church in Bohyen-Adumanu, Kumasi, as members protested against the induction of a new head pastor.

The situation escalated to the point where armed security personnel reportedly had to be called in.

A video shared by user @eddie_wrt shows church members holding placards and wearing red bands around their heads and necks. They can be seen and heard protesting vehemently towards a group of men in suits and military uniforms.

“Chaos erupted yesterday as some members of the Abundant Life Assemblies of God Church at Bohyen-Adumanu, Kumasi, protested against the induction of a new pastor to head the branch. Despite the misunderstanding and protest, the head of the church in the Ashanti Region proceeded with the induction in the presence of armed security men,” the caption of the video reads.

The reasons behind the congregation’s opposition to the new pastor are unclear. However, comments under the post suggest various possible motivations.

Some claim internal church politics and unfulfilled promises made by pastors seeking votes.

“I was told the induction happened, they were not even allowed into the church,” wrote one commenter. Another expressed frustration, saying, “They could’ve used this same energy to demand developments from their DCE, MCE, MP, president, and vice.”

One comment pointed to possible political manoeuvring within the church: “Clearly there’s a foul play somewhere, these pastors also do politics. They make promises to their fellow pastors for votes, then later try to fulfill them at all cost. Personal interest nkoaa.”

Another user commented on the broader issue of employment in Ghana, stating, “The only real job in Ghana is politics and preaching. Everything else is not really a job, we just doing some nonsense thing in town.”

The protest and subsequent induction, despite the objections, highlight underlying tensions within the church community.

The use of armed security to manage the situation underscores the seriousness of the conflict.

  • CMC cuts sod for 6,000-seater cathedral

A sod-cutting ceremony has been performed for the construction of a 6,000-seater capacity cathedral at the Cedar Mountain Chapel (CMC) of the Assemblies of God (AG), Ghana in the Greater Accra Region.

The project also includes the construction of a children’s chapel and an eight-storey administration complex expected to be completed in a year.

The ceremony was performed by a former President, John Dramani Mahama and witnessed by the General Superintendent of the A-G Ghana, Rev. Dr Stephen Wengam, the First Lady of the CMC, Monica Wengam and other senior officials of both the A-G and CMC.

It was part of activities to climax the 12-anniversary celebration of the Cedar Mountain Chapel.

Speaking at the event in Accra on Sunday, October 2, Mr Mahama stated that the project would be one of the greatest edifices in the country to the glory of God.

He said from a humble beginning, the CMC has grown from a smaller church to a bigger congregation with a 1,000-seater capacity and now a ground breaking ceremony to construct a 6,000-seater cathedral.

“I was the special guest of honour during the dedication of the foremost chapel at American House and it was a small congregation then now look at the size of CMC.

“And so, we pray that CMC will grow from glory to glory and I believe that the groundbreaking today will move the church to the next level of glory,” he said.

    Cedar tree

The former President explained that cedar tree was associated with longevity and for that reason the Cedar Mountain Chapel was a chapel built for longevity.

“The cedar tree is also a very good wind block and so, it protects people’s houses and for that reason the church will protect people from any adverse events,” he said.

He underlined the need for Christians to become more Christlike and living to please the Lord.

    Hope

Rev Wengam who is also the Lead Pastor of CMC, expressed hope that the construction works would be completed within schedule to serve the A-G Ghana.

“The construction of the cathedral is historic and it will serve the A-G Ghana in the near future.

“When I took over as the General Superintendent, I was informed that Ghana A-G will be hosting the world’s mission conference in 2024 and that we will need a 5,000-seater capacity cathedral for that conference.

“And then in 2026, the A-G Ghana will be hosting the World Fellowship of Assemblies of God Conference,” he said.

He said delegates representing 70 million congregants of the church across the world would converge in Ghana for the two international events.

He urged members of the church to join forces to help build the cathedral within schedule.

“Church, as we enter into our new phase in which we are believing in God for the construction of our 6000-seater Cedar Cathedral, Children Chapel and a multi-storey administration complex, I ask that you not to cease praying, nor relent in your support to the church.

“I also ask that you continue to avail your expertise and technical know-how to the advancement of the kingdom,” he added.

    Thanksgiving service

Mrs Wengam said the ceremony was a thanksgiving service and climax of the church’s 12th anniversary celebration and the end of 21 days of fasting and praying.

She said it was an amazing feeling and with utmost gratitude to God after a flashback and reminisced on how quickly a decade plus two years have passed.

She said more gratifying was how God guided, protected and brought the church to this place – Cedar City.
