Long-distance relationship is now a big deal for me – Afua Asantewaa

Guinness World Record sing-a-thon contender Afua Asantewaa has made a u-turn on her stance regarding long-distance relationships.

According to her, she never counted the cost involved in managing a relationship where both partners stayed worlds apart until she experienced it herself.

It appears that after several years of living with her husband in Ghana, she has now relocated abroad and must adjust to staying connected with him despite the physical distance.

In an Instagram video, Afua Asantewaa expressed, “Long-distance relationship is very easy. It is not difficult…hmm..those were the exact words I used to say some time back. You know I thought it wasn’t a big deal. I mean you could be talking with your partner and all that…[She yelled], “Until I experienced it.”

Out of curiosity and respect for those managing long-distance relationships, Afua Asantewaa asked if such people use a special method to keep their spark despite not being physically together.

“And wait, let me ask, is there some sort of measure you guys follow or is it some divine strength that you guys have, that you are able to stay apart that long…she yelled again “It’s difficult o. It it is di-fi-cult”

Afua Asantewaa made headlines in 2023 with her bold attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon.

The marathon commenced at midnight on December 24, 2023, and concluded on the morning of December 29, 2023.

She concluded her captivating singing marathon after an impressive 126 hours and 52 minutes.

Officials at the Guinness World Records disclosed that Afua Asantewaa was unsuccessful with her singathon attempt because she did not adhere to some of their rules.

“Afua Asantewaa’s singathon attempt was not successful due to guidelines around rest break timings not being met.

“These rules are standard across all of our ‘longest marathon’ records,” PR Executive for the Guinness World Records, Alina Polianskaya, told JoyNews via email.

She made a second attempt on December 21, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, lasting an impressive 121 hours and 39 minutes.

That was also unsuccessful, as the Guinness World Records disqualified her for exceeding her break duration.

Nonetheless, Afua has been touring around the world, earning ambassadorial deals and other opportunities that recognize and reward her efforts to stand out.

Guinness World Records rejects Afua Asantewaa’s singing marathon attempt

Ghanaian media personality and singer Afua Asantewaa’s ambitious quest to set the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon has come to an unfortunate end, as her second attempt was rejected by the record-keeping organization.

In an official statement from the Guinness World Records (GWR) team, it was revealed that her attempt could not be validated due to violations of the rest break guidelines. These guidelines, which require participants to take a 5-minute break for every continuous hour of performance, were breached during Afua’s singing marathon.

The first infraction occurred at 23:25 during sequence 19 when Afua took a 15-minute break, far exceeding the permissible 5-minute rest period. The second violation came during sequence 21, when she took an extended 105-minute break, despite having only earned 10 minutes of rest by that point. GWR officials emphasized that fairness and strict adherence to the rules are paramount when validating world records, making these violations significant enough to disqualify her attempt.

Despite the setback, Afua Asantewaa has maintained a positive outlook. In a heartfelt message to her supporters, she expressed her gratitude for the encouragement she received throughout both of her record attempts. “It’s been a challenging yet rewarding journey,” she shared, reflecting on the personal growth and self-discovery she experienced during her efforts to break the world record.

Afua extended thanks to her team, her loyal fans, and the sponsors who supported her during the attempt, including Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II. Her fans have rallied behind her, with many expressing admiration for her perseverance and determination, despite the disqualification.

While the rejection marks the end of her second bid for the Guinness World Record, Afua is not deterred. “This is just the beginning,” she said, signaling that she will continue to pursue her passion for music and set her sights on future challenges. Her journey has inspired many, and with her optimistic outlook, Afua Asantewaa is sure to remain a significant figure in both the Ghanaian music industry and the broader global stage.

Fans and supporters continue to celebrate her achievements, as Afua proves that setbacks are simply part of the road to success, and her journey towards greatness is far from over.

  • Second try, still no record: Afua Asantewaa’s GWR attempt disqualified again

Second try, still no record: Afua Asantewaa’s GWR attempt disqualified again

Ghanaian media personality and singer Afua Asantewaa has once again fallen short in her bid to set the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon.

After reviewing her second attempt, officials from Guinness World Records ruled it invalid.

The reason? Afua’s team did not fully follow the rules, particularly those about rest breaks. Under GWR guidelines, participants are allowed a 5-minute break for every hour of continuous singing.

However, there were two key moments during her performance where this rule was not followed, leading to the disqualification of her attempt.

“At 23:25 during sequence 19, Afua reportedly took a 15-minute break, when she was only entitled to 5 minutes of rest. “Later, during sequence 21, she took a 105-minute break, despite having only 10 minutes of accrued rest time”.

Guinness World Records said the rule violations meant they couldn’t approve Afua Asantewaa’s attempt because all record attempts must be fair and follow the same strict rules.

Even though things didn’t go as planned, Afua is staying positive. She shared a message thanking Ghanaians and her supporters around the world for standing by her during both of her singing marathon efforts.

“It’s been a challenging yet rewarding journey. Exploring my potential on the Guinness World Records platform has brought about growth, discovery, and life-altering experiences,” she shared.

Afua Asantewaa also showed appreciation to her team, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and all the companies that supported her along the way.

Although this was her second try that didn’t go as planned, she made it clear that she’s not giving up and still has more to achieve.

  • Afua Asantewaa still waiting for Guinness World Records reply after 121-hour singing attempt

Afua Asantewaa still waiting for Guinness World Records reply after 121-hour singing attempt

Ghanaian media personality and singer Afua Asantewaa has stated that she is still waiting for an official response from Guinness World Records following her second attempt at breaking the record for the longest singing marathon by an individual.

In an interaction with a fan on TikTok, Afua Asantewaa gave an update on the status of her record attempt.

The fan had commented under a video of her dancing, asking about the outcome of the singing marathon she embarked on in December 2024.

Responding directly to the fan’s comment, she said she was yet to hear back from the Guinness World Records team.

“We are still waiting,” she responded.

It’s been several months since the attempt, with the official waiting period for verification already surpassed.

According to information on the Guinness World Records website, the usual processing time for standard applications is between six to twelve weeks.

However, the timeframe can be longer depending on the type of record and how complex the evidence submitted is.

In cases where a Guinness World Records judge is present during the attempt, results can be confirmed immediately but that wasn’t the case for Afua’s marathon.

Afua Asantewaa began her second attempt on December 21, 2024, at Heroes’ Park in Kumasi.

Though this attempt has not been confirmed yet as successful, it followed her initial effort in December 2023, where she had also tried to break the existing record of 105 hours set by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare.

During her December 2024 attempt, she sang non-stop for 121 hours and 39 minutes.

Appreciate your team and stop painting them black to the public – Afua Asantewaa told

Afua Asantewaa, the Ghanaian media personality and Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt holder for the longest singing marathon, has been advised to appreciate her team rather than publicly criticizing them. This follows recent statements she made that seemingly put her support team in a negative light.

In an interview, Afua Asantewaa suggested that lapses from her team contributed to her unsuccessful attempt to break the world record. Her remarks have sparked reactions from the public, with many urging her to acknowledge the efforts of those who worked tirelessly to support her challenge.

Industry stakeholders and fans have taken to social media to express their concerns, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in such endeavors. Some argue that while there may have been setbacks, publicly blaming her team could affect her credibility and future collaborations.

One of her team members, Lamisi Awinongya, expressed her disappointment over the situation, urging Afua Asantewaa to be grateful for the support she received.

“You had the goodwill of the people of Ghana from home and abroad. From the beginning of your attempt to the end, your hardworking team, which I was an instrumental part of, supported you. We sacrificed our services, time, and other resources to benefit you. Be grateful to the very team that stood by you from day one,” Lamisi said.

She added, “Appreciate every support that came your way. Good reputation pays. On this note, I, Lamisi Awinongya, haven’t taken any money from any individual or group during the Sing-a-Thon. It’s unfortunate that it has to get to this. You can attest to it that I wouldn’t have done this, but I have family and loved ones. Thank you, please stop this already.”

A section of the public believes that even though Afua Asantewaa’s concerns might be valid, addressing them in a more constructive and private manner would have been ideal. Others have advised her to reflect on the entire experience, appreciate her supporters, and make improvements for future attempts.

Afua Asantewaa’s singing marathon, which gained widespread attention both locally and internationally, saw significant support from various individuals, organizations, and well-wishers. Despite falling short of securing the world record, she was praised for her resilience and determination.

Many now hope that she will take the feedback in good stride, mend any rifts within her camp, and continue to work towards future successes with a united front.

    Background

Afua Asantewaa, in an interview on Accra FM, stated that she did not receive any cash donation from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Contrary to claims that she received huge donations from the previous government, Lamisi stated that no member of her team ever provided her with an account of any donations received during her participation in the Sing-a-Thon contest.

Afua claimed that all she received was medicine for her sore throat, which she directly received from the former vice president.

Shortly after, the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, reiterated that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former NPP flagbearer, indeed donated GH¢20,000 to support her Sing-a-Thon.

Socrate Safo, the former Director of Creative Arts at the National Commission on Culture, also labelled her as ungrateful and accused her of lying.

Later, in her Instagram story, Afua Asantewaa accused Socrate Safo of being deceitful and taking advantage of her hard work.

Subsequently on UTV, while clarifying that her team only informed her about the donation on Saturday evening, Afua alleged that Socrate took GH¢10,000 out of the GH¢20,000 for claiming he had brought the vice president to her.

  • Afua Asantewaa should get a spokesperson – Bullgod on GHS20K donation confusion

Afua Asantewaa should get a spokesperson – Bullgod on GHS20K donation confusion

Ghanaian artiste manager and entertainment analyst, Lawrence Asiamah Hanson, widely known as Bullgod, has advised Guinness World Records contender Afua Asantewaa to consider hiring a spokesperson following the controversy surrounding a GH¢20,000 donation from former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Afua Asantewaa recently claimed in an interview with Nana Romeo that, aside from medication for a sore throat, she received no assistance from the previous government during her first sing-a-thon attempt. She denied receiving any cash donations or items from Dr. Bawumia, contradicting claims that the former Vice President had supported her cause.

Reacting to the development on United Showbiz on Saturday, March 15, Bullgod advised her to be cautious with her public statements, suggesting that she should let a professional handle her communications.

“She is a fine lady and should stop talking because what she is saying won’t help her. I would suggest she look for someone to do the talking on her behalf,” he stated.

His comments come after National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, refuted Afua Asantewaa’s claims, stating in a Facebook post that he personally handed over GH¢20,000 to her husband and father on behalf of Dr. Bawumia.

Bullgod described Afua Asantewaa’s statement as “ambiguous,” questioning how she could be unaware of a donation received by her own management team.

“It’s surprising that she only became aware that GH¢20,000 was donated to her team when she was about to speak to us,” he remarked. “Her husband is the one managing her, so as a manager, he leads the team. All that she is saying is ambiguous.”

He also reminded her of her experience working with industry professionals like Merqury Quaye, Nana Reagan, and George Quaye, advising her to be mindful of her words.

“She has worked with respected personalities in the media space, so she should be careful with her statements,” he added.

The controversy continues to fuel discussions in the entertainment industry, with many questioning the handling of communication regarding high-profile support for Afua Asantewaa’s record attempt.

  • ‘Be mindful of your words’ on Bawumia’s donation – Bullgod to Afua Asantewaa

‘Be mindful of your words’ on Bawumia’s donation – Bullgod to Afua Asantewaa

Ghanaian artiste manager and entertainment analyst, Lawrence Asiamah Hanson, widely known as Bullgod, has advised Afua Asantewaa to be careful with what she says regarding the GH¢20,000 donation from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

She said, she did not receive any substantial gift from the then New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, except for medicine to soothe her sore throat, which was personally presented to her by Dr. Bawumia.

During a discussion on United Showbiz on Saturday, March 14, 2025, Bullgod characterized Afua Asantewaa’s as ‘unclear’ and lacking specificity.

He pointed out that her husband was actively involved in managing her team during the first sign-a-thon attempt, making it surprising that she claimed to be unaware of the GH¢20,000 donation made by former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to support her cause.

“It’s surprising that she became aware that GH¢20,000 was donated to his team just when she was about to speak to us. Her husband is the one managing her so as a manager he is the one leading the team. All that she is saying is ambiguous.

“She worked with big personalities in the media space such as Merqury Quaye, Nana Reagan, Geroge Quaye, and others so she should be mindful of her words,” he said.

Meanwhile, the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha has stated that he personally handed over GH¢20,000 to Afua’s husband and father on behalf of the former Vice President.

BullGod has therefore advised to be more mindful of her words.

Adding that Afua should refrain from making further public comments that could potentially harm her brand, stating that she should consider hiring a professional to speak on her behalf.

“She is a fine lady and should stop talking because what she is saying won’t help her. I would suggest she look for someone to do the talking on her behalf,” he added.

‘Wicked man!’ – Afua Asantewaa calls out Socrates Safo over unreceived funds

Guinness World Record hopeful Afua Asantewaa has slammed Socrates Safo for labeling her ungrateful.

Her outburst follows claims that Dr. Bawumia’s team entrusted GH¢20,000 to Socrates Safo for her, but she never saw a penny.

Expressing her frustration, Afua Asantewaa alleged that instead of the promised funds, she was only given a bottle of cough syrup.

In an Instagram story, she called out Socrates Safo, branding him as wicked.

She further accused him of benefiting from her hard work while she endured hardships in the box.

Others involved in the distribution of the money without her knowledge were also not spared from her wrath.

“Men go through a lot too sometimes” – Afua Asantewaa reacts to 2face, Annie’s divorce case

Journalist and entrepreneur Afua Asantewaa has reacted to the surprising news of 2Face Idibia and Annie Macaulay Idibia’s alleged divorce.

Their separation has stirred widespread discussions, given their history of ups and downs and public displays of affection.

Afua shared her shock, noting that many of 2Face’s timeless love songs were believed to have been inspired by Annie.

“2Face’s divorce comes as a shock to me because he penned so many love songs, and I always thought they were dedicated to Annie. Looking at their love and friendship journey, it’s hard to imagine this happening,” she said.

She also suggested that the challenges within their marriage may not be one-sided, contrary to the hot takes on social media blaming 2Face for what they describe as manipulation and insensitivity.

“Men go through a lot in marriage too. Maybe 2Face isn’t the type to speak about everything Annie does to him, but she often reacts to what he does, and it’s sad to see. For all we know, both of them have issues we aren’t privy to, and when the full story comes out, it might not be clear who’s at fault.”

Interestingly, she noted that the couple’s history of breaking up and reconciling leaves room for hope.
However, she agreed that irreconcilable differences is a strong ground for a split.

She concluded by urging fans to approach the situation with understanding and avoid making harsh judgments.

Afua Asantewaa tells how she was dragged during first Sing-a-thon attempt

Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum, who recently completed her second attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon, has spoken out about a “horrible plot” she faced during her first attempt.

Despite facing criticism from many Ghanaians, Afua successfully completed her five-day singing marathon in Kumasi.

Some people on social media accused her of being motivated by greed and a desire for attention.

Others suggested she should step back and allow the country to focus on more important issues.

Afua recently opened up about her second attempt and revealed some troubling details about her first attempt in Accra.

In a viral video, she shared how she discovered some people had plotted against her, even going so far as to try and drug her.

“The first attempt, I really suffered. Everyone wanted to show they had ideas, telling me to do things this way and that way. But in the end, when I didn’t get the result I expected, they said I was the only failure in the story,” she recalled.

She then added, “In 2025, I’ll tell you everything. When they planned to give me a drug so I would collapse and they could put me in an ambulance… I’ll tell you everything. The first one, it was God. The second one too, it was God.”

Afua became emotional as she expressed her disbelief over why anyone would want to hurt her for attempting to achieve a recognition that offers no financial reward. This was especially difficult after she had been accused of greed and exploitation for her efforts.

“For a recognition that doesn’t have money, for a recognition that I’ve been tagged greedy and insulted, why would you even want to destroy me over it?” she asked.

Afua said although she would like to go into detail about the plot against her, she had been advised to remain silent for now.

“People say if I talk, it will affect a lot of brands and a lot of people, so I should keep quiet,” she explained.

Looking back on her experience and the smaller crowd at her second attempt, Afua mentioned that she actually enjoyed the more personal atmosphere.

“This time around, I really had time to assess myself. It was so intimate, and I loved it,” she emphasised.

Pursue your dreams and live beyond social media – Afua Asantewaa advises fans at her GWR party

Social media has had a huge impact on Afua Asantewaa Aduonum’s journey, both in positive and negative ways.

The Guinness World Record holder shared her thoughts on the platform after hosting an all-white party in Kumasi, celebrating her second successful attempt at breaking the record for the longest singing marathon.

Speaking to her fans at the after-party at Heros Park Annex, Afua reflected on how social media played a role in her reaching her goal, saying that it’s a powerful tool, but one that also has its downsides.

She encouraged her followers to remember that if they want to live a meaningful life, they must look beyond the online world.

“Social media has come to help us: positively and negatively. But if you want to live an impactful life, live beyond social media, and live beyond hearsay. Just go for your dreams,” she said.

Speaking about negative comments she had received recently, Mrs Aduonum noted that whenever she encountered such comments, she would go on her knees and pray to God.

“When your conscience and the God you serve guides you to go there, do this, that is what you have to abide by.”

  • Poor turnout at Afua Asantewaa’s Sing-a-thon in Kumasi

Poor turnout at Afua Asantewaa’s Sing-a-thon in Kumasi

Some people on social media are upset about the lack of support for media personality and Guinness World Record hopeful, Afua Asantewaa, as she tries to break the record for the ‘Longest Singing Marathon by an Individual.’

Asantewaa is trying to beat the current record of 105 hours held by Sunil Waghmare from India.

This is Asantewaa’s second attempt, as her first one in 2023 was disqualified because of violations regarding rest time.

Her current attempt is happening at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium Heroes Park Annex.

Despite her determination, social media users have pointed out that the support in Kumasi is much less than during her first attempt in Accra, where large crowds gathered to cheer her on.

Livestream videos show only a few people watching her performance in Kumasi.

One user commented, “Afua Asantewaa sings to her husband and a few birds at Kumasi Heroes Park.” Another remarked, “Afua Asantewaa’s mom doing solo support. The sing-a-thon is still ongoing.”

Criticisms also came from users comparing the support in Kumasi to that in Accra.

“You Kumasi massives, be yawa people. Did y’all not see the support we gave her in Accra last year?” one user posted.

Another added, “Afua Asantewaa got some small fame last year with the sing-a-thon and decided to disrespect Ghanaians. Now it’s just her singing to her husband at Heroes Park in Kumasi; nobody is there.”

As Asantewaa’s attempt continues, many are hoping for a surge in support as she nears the record-breaking mark.

  • Afua Asantewaa attempts GWR sing-a-thon again after disqualification

Afua Asantewaa attempts GWR sing-a-thon again after disqualification

Afua Asantewaa has announced her decision to attempt the Guinness World Record (GWR) for longest singing marathon again after her failed attempt last year.

In a flier shared, she indicated that this would take place on December 21.

Afua Asantewaa completed 126 hours of the singing marathon she started on December 24, 2023 in her attempt to break the 11-year-old GWR set by the Indian, Sunil Waghmare. Afua’s attempt was aimed at breaking the 105 hours record set by Waghmare in 2012. She ended the singing marathon on December 27, 2023.

But the Guinness World Record (GWR) earlier this year disqualified Afua Asantewaa’s sing-a-thon attempt.

In a tweet responding to a comment enquiring about her attempt, the GWR said “unfortunately, Afua’s Guinness World Record attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful but we hope that she will make another attempt soon.”

“This was due to guidelines around rest break timings not being met. These rules are standard across all of our ‘longest marathon’ records,” a GWR spokesperson said.

The GWR has elaborate and strict requirements for challenging a record or setting one, and has similar requirements for submitting attempts. Applicants would have to strictly follow the rules, failure to follow the step-by-step processes could result in a rejection.

GWR: Afia Asantewaa announces plans embark on another Sing-a-thon in December

Former Guinness World Record aspirant Afua Asantewaa has revealed plans to host another edition of her sing-a-thon in Kumasi this December.

In December 2023, Afua captured the nation’s attention with her attempt to break Sunil Waghmare’s record for the longest solo singing marathon.

Despite her tireless five-day performance, she was eventually disqualified.

However, in an interview with Akoma FM on October 23, 2024, the tourism ambassador shared exciting news: she has been granted clearance from Guinness World Records to organize a new sing-a-thon in Kumasi.

“I can tell you on your show that, God willing, in December, I will be hosting another sing-a-thon, but this time I’m planning to do it in Kumasi.

“My team and I are conducting a feasibility study to determine the best location in the city for the event. This will allow the local community to experience the show and enhance my role as a tourism ambassador,” she announced.

Afua highlighted that her previous disqualification has only strengthened her determination to achieve the status of a Guinness World Record holder.

“The fact that I was not successful in my first attempt shouldn’t be a barrier to my quest of becoming a Guinness World Record holder,” she stated.

She also mentioned that a press conference will be held to officially launch the upcoming sing-a-thon.

    I’m just like a presidential aspirant, I’ll attempt a sing-a-thon again – Afua Asantewaa

Ghanaian aiming to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) Afua Asantewaa, for the longest singing marathon, has announced her intention to try again. Despite not succeeding in her initial attempt, she has been contemplating a second try and has now decided to proceed with it.

Drawing parallels to presidential candidates who persist despite setbacks, Afua explained in an interview with GhOne TV that she has gained valuable insights from her previous experience and is determined to honor Ghana.

“Reflecting on my past attempt, I believe it’s like the Black Stars participating in a World Cup or a presidential candidate running for office. They keep trying even if they don’t win initially. My unsuccessful attempt doesn’t mean I should give up,” she stated.

Afua noted that her first attempt in December 2023 was rushed with only two weeks of preparation. This time, she plans to utilize several months to prepare thoroughly to ensure success and make Ghana proud, regardless of the outcome.

Her first attempt began on December 24, 2023, where she sang for 126 hours and 52 minutes at Akwaaba Village in Accra, attracting thousands of supporters. The event saw attendance from numerous Ghanaian showbiz personalities, who came to show their support.

However, her attempt was disqualified because the guidelines regarding rest breaks were not followed, according to a statement from Alina Polianskaya, PR Executive for the Guinness World Records. Despite the disqualification, Afua remains inspired and is looking forward to her next attempt.

Afua Asantewaa teases Fella Makafui for selling ‘fake’ flat tummy products

Ghanaian media personality, Afua Asantewaa, known for her attempt at the Guinness World Record(GWR) for the longest singing marathon, has publicly criticized Fella Makafui’s flat tummy products.

She expressed her dissatisfaction, explaining that she intended to purchase only a corset but was persuaded to buy additional belly and arm gels.

In a video shared on social media, Afua mocked the product’s marketing tactics, claiming they mislead customers into buying more than they intend.

She stated, “The way they market the product you may think you are going to buy just a corset and you end up buying belly gel and arm gel. Some of the products are in my house so when I get to Ghana I will do a live video and let you see them. Women are suffering. The products are still there as I speak.”

This controversy follows Medikal’s recent revelation that his wife, Fella Makafui’s, flat tummy and enhanced backside are the results of cosmetic procedures, which he funded despite his initial opposition.

Afua Asantewaa defends Fella Makafui amid backlash over body enhancement surgery

Guinness World Records sing-a-thon contender, Afua Asantewaa has publicly defended actress Fella Makafui against criticism for her tummy tuck procedure.

Asantewaa argued that there is no issue with Makafui’s decision to undergo surgery, especially since it aligns with promoting her corset products.

She condemned those attacking the actress, urging them to think more carefully before making harsh judgments that could harm Makafui’s reputation.

Highlighting the importance of presenting an appropriate image for her business, Asantewaa stated, “As a corset vendor, it wouldn’t serve Fella well to maintain a shape that doesn’t fit the product. Would you buy a corset from someone who doesn’t look the part? It’s like buying skin-toning cream from someone with uneven skin.”

She emphasized the need for balanced criticism and thorough analysis before forming opinions. “It’s crucial to embody what your brand represents, which is exactly what my sister Fella is doing,” she said in a video posted by Express GH TV on their YouTube channel.

Asantewaa’s comments follow revelations by Fella Makafui’s estranged husband, Medikal, who disclosed the substantial expense of the actress’ tummy tuck surgery.

The couple has been in the spotlight due to marital issues, including Medikal’s displeasure with Fella’s decision to allow her cousin, Blessing, to stay in their matrimonial home.

“It is for protection” – Kofi Aduonum explains why he always walks behind his wife Afua Asantewaa

The husband of Afua Asantewaa, Kofi Aduonum, has finally broken silence over attacks on his frequent presence around his wife.

Efua, known for her attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon, gained popularity after her attempt.

One of the highlights about her was her husband’s presence at almost all events and programmes she attended,, including interviews, among others.

Some Ghanaians expressed concerns about him being frequently present with her, with others questioning if he was jobless or had nothing to do but hang around his ‘celebrity wife’.

But Kofi has explained his actions during an interview with Emelia Brobey on her Okukuseku Show on YouTube on May 6, 2024.

“One thing we also heard was that I am always following her, but my point is, what if I go ahead of her and someone hurts her from behind? You have to offer protection as a man. That is why they sleep behind us, even on our beds so that we can block any danger from them. That doesn’t make me a fool,” he stated.

According to him, a man walking behind a woman is a sign of protection, making reference to what the scriptures say in 1 Peter 3:7: “And in the same way, you husbands should live with your wives in understanding and honour her as a weaker vessel…”.

“Bible refers to women as weaker vessels; why follow a woman and carry load while you walk behind her, flexing your muscles as a man? It is pointless. In my opinion, I see nothing wrong with helping my wife.

So those who feel they are gentlemen and others…well” he said.

Unbeknownst to many, before her wife came into the limelight, they had always been going places and doing things together before she gained such popularity.

A man’s proof of his love for his wife is in how much he supports her, Kofi Aduonum added.

I initially wanted to break world record for running 100 metres in high heels – Afua Asantewaa

Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has once again made remarks about her previous attempt to break a Guinness World Record.

Asantewaa failed at her Guinness World Record attempt for the longest singing marathon. According to Asantewaa, she had other record ideas before choosing the sing-a-thon.

In an interview on the Okukuseku Talk show, Asantewaa said she had wanted to attempt to break the record for the fastest 100 metres run in heels by a woman but was advised against it by her husband.

Afua Asantewaa said she instead chose the sing-a-thon because it was a way for her to link her personal goal of achieving the record to the national goal of spreading Ghanaian music globally.

“I initially wanted to try the fastest 100 metres run in heels by a woman. That was my first choice. But my husband advised me against it. He said I should go for something I was passionate about and would not give up easily.

“I’m a very passionate person and I love music, so I decided to go for the longest singing marathon. I also wanted to promote Ghanaian music and make it more popular, like the Nigerians have done.

“That was my motivation, to link my action to a national goal, which is to put Ghana music on the global stage and make it enjoyable and attractive for every Ghanaian,” she said.

The current record for fastest 100 metres in high heels (female) is 13.557 seconds, achieved by Majken Sichlau (Denmark) during the Tarnby Games 2015 at Tarnby Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 2 May 2015.

Asantewaa has expressed her gratitude for the public support during her attempt to break the sing-a-thon record.

Sing-a-thon sensation Afua Asantewaa accuses GWR of premature result reveal!

Popular social media sensation, Afua Asantewaa, has accused the Guinness World Records (GWR) of breaching their contract by announcing the results of her singing marathon before she had the chance to do so herself.

In an exclusive interview with GTV, Asantewaa expressed her frustration, stating that according to the contract signed with GWR, she was supposed to be informed of the results first before they were made public.

“In the contract we signed, until I decide to let it out, they can’t. There are so many things I have tried in the past that I willingly embraced failure that brought me this far. So why would I hide the results from the public? No way,” she asserted.

As of Friday, February 23, Asantewaa claimed she had not received the results of her record attempt due to issues accessing the email sent by GWR containing the results. Despite alerting GWR about her inability to access the email, she stated that they had not responded to her complaint.

“We had screenshots of it as if I knew this would happen. I lodged a complaint with them that I cannot access their website or my account so they should look into it for me because I need official documents, whatever they’ve sent to make a statement,” Asantewaa explained.

However, she assured her fans that she and her team were making plans to announce the results once GWR got back to them, emphasizing that she would not purposely hide the results and would embrace them regardless of the outcome.

In December 2023, Asantewaa undertook the challenge to beat the existing sing-a-thon record, enduring a five-day singing marathon. Despite her efforts, the outcome of her record attempt has remained undisclosed by GWR.

The situation escalated when rumors circulated that she may not have passed the record attempt. In January 2024, she disclosed that her team expedited the approval process by paying $750 for a priority review. However, even after the payment, her result was delayed, leading to further speculation.

In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), GWR revealed that Asantewaa failed to break the longest singing marathon record and refunded the money paid for a priority review.

Despite the setback, Asantewaa remains determined, emphasizing that the experience itself was an accomplishment.

The ongoing saga has sparked debate and raised questions about the transparency of the record verification process and the handling of Asantewaa’s case by GWR.

I have a strong personality, and I believe in not giving up – Afua Asantewaa reacts to GWR disqualification

Guinness World Record (GWR) in a reply to an X user’s post concerning the results of Ghana’s Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, who attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon in December 2023, announced that she has been disqualified.

This was met with mixed reactions from several Ghanaians, with some expressing disappointment and betrayal while others commending her for her effort and courage over her intention to hide such news from the public.

However, in response, Afua Asantewaa explained in an interview with GHONE TV that she received the news of the outcome of her sing-a-thon attempt just moments before hosting a gala dinner and the launch of the Lebanese Scholarship Alumni Network.

She attributed this to a miscommunication by GWR, highlighting her inability to access her account; hence, she has no official documents to post or prove that her attempt was unsuccessful.

She contends that she hasn’t disappointed Ghanaians, as many claim.

“I spoke about a miscommunication with GWR and it had to be with my log-in account. I don’t have access so I sit here and don’t have official documents to even post on my social media, that this is my disqualification letter and probably that’s the reason they went ahead to comment on another person’s post and it went viral so I think that I haven’t disappointed Ghanaians, and maybe the only disappointment is that they didn’t hear it from me.

So I hope that, in due time, they will get to understand me and believe my story,” Afua stated.

Consequently, Afua assured Ghanaians that ” there is no way I will hold on to results such as this. I’m a very strong person, and I believe in not giving up, regardless of whether I’m successful or not. I will still share with Ghanaians anyway.”
