In the first leg of the 2024 U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, Ghana’s female U-20 team, known as the Black Princesses, achieved an impressive 3-0 triumph over their counterparts from Guinea-Bissau in Bissau on Sunday, October 8.
Under the guidance of Coach Yussif Basigi, the Ghanaian squad secured a comfortable victory, courtesy of goals from Success Ameyaa, Mary Amponsah, and Mercy Attobra.
The match kicked off with Ghana displaying their strength, creating numerous promising opportunities during the early minutes.
However, Guinea-Bissau managed to keep Ghana at bay in the first half, resulting in an evenly contested period.
Just before halftime, Success Ameyaa broke the deadlock, giving Ghana the lead in the 45th minute.
In the second half, Mary Amponsah further extended Ghana’s advantage with a goal in the 67th minute.
Mercy Attobra then sealed the victory with the third and final goal in the 77th minute, putting the finishing touches on an impressive performance.
The return fixture is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Princesses are determined to replicate their strong showing and secure a place in the next round of the qualifiers.
