During his team’s 2-1 defeat to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup semi-final, Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo received a red card for elbowing an opponent.
Ronaldo, aged 39, was dismissed on the 86th minute for allegedly swinging his elbow twice into the chest of Ali Al Bulayhi, causing him to fall to the ground.
After the incident, Ronaldo was seen raising his fist towards the referee before leaving the field. This marks Ronaldo’s first red card since joining Al-Nassr in December 2022.
At the time of the expulsion, Al-Nassr was trailing 2-0, with goals scored by Salem Al-Dawsari and Malcom, while former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane managed to pull one back in stoppage time.
Three-time champions Al-Hilal will face Al-Ittihad in the final on Thursday. Al-Ittihad secured their spot in the final by defeating Al-Wehda 2-1 in the earlier semi-final, with goals from former Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema and Morocco forward Abderrazak Hamdallah.
