Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey remained on the bench as Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Despite traveling with the team to Germany and being available for selection, Partey was not called upon by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
Instead, Arteta opted for a midfield trio of Jorgino, Declan Rice, and Martin Odegaard in the crucial second-leg quarter-final match.
Despite Arsenal’s efforts throughout the game, they were unable to breach Bayern Munich’s defence and find a goal of their own.
Bayern Munich secured their place in the semi-finals with a solitary header from Joshua Kimmich in the 63rd minute, sealing a 1-0 victory and a 3-2 aggregate win over Arsenal.
Following the defeat, Thomas Partey and his Arsenal teammates will return to England to focus on their remaining fixtures in the English Premier League as they continue their pursuit of the title in the 2023/24 season.
