Lucy Quist on lessons learnt as vice president of GFA Normalization Committee

After an explosive documentary on corruption in Ghana football, activities of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) were temporarily suspended and the country almost faced suspension from international football activities.

FIFA, however, rescinded its threat of suspending the country as the government met all the conditions for football to return to the country.

The world governing body on football together with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) appointed a four-member Normalization Committee in September 2018 to run Ghana football in an interim capacity to replace the erstwhile Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

Ghanaian-British business and technology executive, Lucy Quist who was appointed as the vice president of the four-member normalization committee has shared valuable lessons she learnt from being a part of the committee.

Speaking in an interview on the Y Leaderboard Series on Y 107.9 FM hosted by Rev Erskine, the astute business executive mentioned that it was a great working and learning opportunity for her as she got the opportunity to learn from those she worked with.

“It was a great opportunity to learn from people with diverse views and backgrounds. It helped me learn about how we organize ourselves as a country and I would like to think the contribution I made in restructuring our business model was done as a collective. We worked as a committee rather than working in a room.”

She furthered that working in teams and as a collective will promote the growth and development of the country.

“I will always treasure the privileged I had to be in the team and work with such great minds to achieve our task,” she stated.
