Dutch media reports suggest that a potential transfer involving Ajax midfielder Kudus Mohammed and Premier League team Brighton and Hove Albion has hit a roadblock due to a release clause.
Allegedly, Kudus is requesting the inclusion of a release clause in the deal, a demand that Brighton has declined to accommodate.
This refusal by the club to agree to a release clause has caused delays in discussions over personal terms, leading to uncertainty about the transfer’s current feasibility.
As previously noted by Dutch journalist Tim van Duijn, Ajax has given the player a 48-hour timeframe to reach an agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion.
Brighton has already reached an arrangement with Ajax to secure Kudus for a transfer fee amounting to 40 million euros.
At present, both Ajax and Brighton are awaiting the player’s approval to proceed and finalize the transaction.
According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs reached an accord back in July, with the player’s decision now being the decisive factor.
Despite interest from notable clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Borussia Dortmund, no formal bids have been presented to Ajax for Mohammed Kudus.
The Ghanaian midfielder still has two years remaining on his contract, having initially signed a five-year deal with Ajax in 2020 following his transfer from Nordsjaelland.
