Kudus names Ghana’s Kamaldeen as the ‘best player’ he has ever played with

Ghanaian footballer Mohammed Kudus has named Kamaldeen Sulemana as the best player he has ever played alongside.

Kudus and Sulemana both developed their skills at the Right to Dream Academy before moving to Danish club FC Nordsjaelland.

Although their careers have taken different paths since leaving Denmark, they reunite whenever they play for the Ghana national team.

Speaking to Rising Ballers, Kudus, who now plays for West Ham United, was asked about the most talented teammate he has shared the field with, and he chose Sulemana

“I’ll go with Kamaldeen [Sulemana] of Southampton because I have known him since he was young; because we played the same academy in Ghana, Denmark also,” he said.

“He’s the best player I’ve played with. I think he has everything a winger needs to succeed.”

While Kudus continues to make a name for himself in London, Kamaldeen has struggled with injuries at St Mary’s Park and is only getting stability under Ivan Juric.

Kudus says his first injury at Ajax was the biggest setback of his career

West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus has described his first injury at Ajax as the most significant setback of his career.

Kudus, who joined Ajax from FC Nordsjaelland in 2020, made a strong start at the Dutch club, impressing in domestic competitions. His highly anticipated UEFA Champions League debut against Liverpool at the Johan Cruyff Arena was meant to be a defining moment.

However, just minutes into the game, he suffered an injury that sidelined him for three months, disrupting his early momentum.

Speaking in an interview with Rising Ballers, the Ghanaian midfielder reflected on that moment, calling it the lowest point of his football journey so far.

“I would say my first injury [is my biggest career setback],” he said.

“I had just joined Ajax, and I was playing well. It was my debut in the Champions League against Liverpool, ten minutes into the game I tore my meniscus and I was out for 3-4 months.

“This was a big blow. It was one of the things I had been working towards my whole life, then getting hit like this was hard.”

Kudus seasons later found his mojo again and played against the Premier League side, scoring against them at Anfield.

“When I returned, I played in the Champions League and played against Liverpool again and scored. It brought back memories of all the hard work paying off was nice,” he added.

During his three-year stay at Ajax, Kudus scored 27 goals and provided 12 assists in 87 appearances across all competitions for the first team.

  • Euro 2024: Jordan Henderson misses out on England’s 30-man provisional squad

Euro 2024: Jordan Henderson misses out on England’s 30-man provisional squad

Jordan Henderson has reportedly been omitted from England’s provisional squad for Euro 2024, despite being a longtime favourite of Gareth Southgate.

The seasoned midfielder, who has accumulated 81 senior caps, is now facing the consequences of some poor decisions at the club level.

Henderson parted ways with Liverpool in July 2023, aiming to secure a spot in the European Championship by joining Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.

However, his stint in the Middle East lasted only six months before his contract was terminated, leading to a move to Dutch side Ajax.

Unfortunately, his time in the Netherlands has been marred by injuries, further hampering his form and fitness.

According to The Athletic, Southgate has decided not to include the industrious midfielder in his Euros plans.

England is set to announce a provisional squad of 30 players for the tournament in Germany this summer.

Despite having captained England on occasion in the absence of star striker Harry Kane, Henderson will be left watching from the sidelines as the team embarks on its quest for continental glory.

England will kick off their Euro 2024 campaign against Serbia on June 16, with friendly matches against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Iceland scheduled beforehand.

  • Brian Brobbey vows to “pay Ajax back” for their trust in his skill

Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Brian Brobbey is resolute in leaving his mark at Ajax and showing gratitude for the club’s trust in him.

Speaking to Men’s Health recently, the 22-year-old expressed his appreciation for Ajax and his determination to make them proud.

Brobbey, a product of Ajax’s youth system, initially departed for RB Leipzig on a free transfer but returned to Ajax later on. Since his return, Brobbey has been an impressive performer, tallying 21 goals and 10 assists in 39 matches.

The talented striker believes he is nearing his peak and harbours ambitions of achieving significant milestones in his career, including representing a top football club and featuring for the Dutch national team in the European Championship.

Brobbey is confident that a strong showing at the Euros will enhance his value and allow him to repay Ajax for their faith in him.

“If I can score a goal at the European Championship, I will promote myself even more and increase my value,” he said.

“I have always said: I am going to pay Ajax back. Of course, I left, but they brought me back. I want to make sure I have been worth it, by playing well for my club and scoring goals,” he added.

  • Graham Potter snubs Jordan Henderson’s ‘sinking’ Ajax

Graham Potter snubs Jordan Henderson’s ‘sinking’ Ajax

Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has reportedly declined an opportunity to assist Jordan Henderson in addressing the significant challenges facing Dutch powerhouse Ajax.

The Eredivisie club is currently seeking a new permanent manager after parting ways with Maurice Steijn in October 2023.

Interim coach John van’t Schip has been in charge since then but has struggled to turn things around.

Ajax, now with former Liverpool captain Henderson among their ranks, recently suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat to arch-rivals Feyenoord, following an earlier 4-0 loss to Aston Villa in the Europa League.

Sky Sports reports that Potter, who previously managed Chelsea and Brighton, was approached for a key coaching role at Ajax.

However, discussions did not lead to an agreement, as Potter has chosen to postpone his return to coaching after being sacked by Chelsea in April 2023.

The 48-year-old remains a target for Manchester United, who are considering their options regarding Erik ten Hag. This suggests that Potter may soon take on a rebuilding project at Old Trafford rather than tackling the challenges at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Video: Check out Partey’s 24 minutes playtime in Manchester City-Arsenal clash

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey showcased his importance to Arsenal’s title aspirations with an impactful performance against Manchester City on March 31, 2024.

Despite being limited to twenty-four minutes of play in the goalless draw at Etihad Stadium, the 30-year-old demonstrated signs of returning to peak condition after facing injury setbacks throughout the 2023/2024 season.

Partey’s standout moment came when he orchestrated a brilliant play that bypassed four Manchester City players, setting up Arsenal’s best scoring opportunity of the match.

Receiving a pass from Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, Partey skillfully manoeuvered past City striker Erling Haaland and evaded the pressure from three opposing players before delivering a precise pass to Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard.

Although Odegaard’s subsequent shot was unsuccessful, Partey’s overall performance showcased his sharpness and ability to dictate play with accurate passes and timely interceptions.

His calming influence in midfield provided Arsenal with much-needed control in a match where they faced significant defensive pressure.

Partey’s return to form is a positive development for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, especially with a hectic schedule of eight games awaiting the team in April.

  • Ajax suspends CEO after two weeks of appointment over alleged insider trading

Ajax suspends CEO after two weeks of appointment over alleged insider trading

Ajax’s tumultuous season faced a new setback on Tuesday as their chief executive, Alex Kroes, was suspended by the club over suspected insider trading, just two weeks into his tenure.

Kroes has been immediately suspended, with Ajax indicating their intention to terminate his contract.

The Dutch club made this decision after discovering that Kroes purchased more than 17,000 shares in Ajax a week before his appointment was officially announced on August 2, 2023. Following legal counsel, Ajax concluded that Kroes likely engaged in insider trading.

Kroes assumed the role of CEO on March 15, after being proposed for the position and chairman of the board in August 2023.

His start at Ajax was delayed due to a one-year non-compete clause in his contract with AZ Alkmaar, where he served as the director of international football strategy. Kroes was selected to succeed Edwin van der Sar, who resigned as general director and CEO in May 2023.

“We are deeply dismayed that this has occurred at Ajax, as it is highly detrimental to the club and everyone who holds it dear to them,” Ajax chairman of the supervisory board Michael van Praag said in a statement. “Alex Kroes’ actions are not in line with what Ajax stands for. The timing of his share purchase indicates insider trading.

“Such a violation of the law cannot be tolerated by a publicly listed company, especially when it involves the CEO. After careful consideration, the supervisory board has therefore concluded that Alex’s position as a director of Ajax is untenable. I want to emphasise that the technical policy will continue with the individuals in place and on the path Ajax was already on with Alex.”

In a statement published to LinkedIn, Kroes said he will refer this case to the Netherlands’ Authority for Financial Markets (AFM) to “arrive at an independent judgement.” Kroes said he bought shares on July 26, 2023, as a sign of faith in the project at Ajax and before he signed his contract to become their new CEO.

“I have been an Ajax player since I was nine,” Kroes said. “I have always been involved in the club, as a player and as a member. In my heart and later also through these shares. Shares that I bought out of involvement in the club. Out of confidence in the club. Not to make quick money, but as a positive signal to all stakeholders.

“I have always said in recent times that I want all the attention to be on Ajax, not on Alex. But my moral compass says that I cannot simply accept this decision of the Supervisory Board. I will now independently go to the AFM to present my matter in order to arrive at an independent judgment.

“All this causes unrest for Ajax and I sincerely regret that. Hopefully this period will be over soon. From today onwards, with a heavy heart, I will watch from a distance what is happening at Ajax. Ajax must become Ajax again.”

The Dutch giants, Ajax, have faced a challenging season marked by significant upheaval. Their performance dipped dramatically, leading them to occupy the bottom spot in the Eredivisie by late October 2023.

The season saw the swift departures of their sporting director, Sven Mislintat, and manager, Maurice Steijn, both appointed during the preseason.

Mislintat’s tenure lasted a mere 129 days before he was dismissed in September 2023 amidst investigations into a potential conflict of interest related to a transfer.

Steijn met a similar fate, being sacked in October during the club’s worst run of results in 54 years. Ajax then turned to John van ‘t Schip as interim manager.

However, they currently find themselves in fifth place in the Eredivisie, trailing by eight points for European qualification.

Their prospects for a Champions League spot appear distant, with a 21-point gap behind Feyenoord in second place and a 28-point deficit behind league leaders PSV.

When Kroes took the job, there was optimism his appointment would trigger the start of Ajax’s resurgence. “There are people who claim it will take four or five years for Ajax to become contenders for the title again,” Kroes said soon after taking the job. “My contract is for three years and I want Ajax to be a title contender in that time.”

However, Ajax finds itself in a position where a thorough reassessment of their strategies is imperative. For the time being, the board members will assume the tasks and obligations previously held by Kroes, with Van Praag acting as the designated representative.

The subsequent course of action involves the board convening an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Shareholders (EGM) to discuss the proposal for Kroes’ dismissal.

Man Utd tracking Ajax striker Brian Brobbey – Source

Man Utd is keeping tabs on Netherlands striker Brian Brobbey, but the likelihood of a January deal is being downplayed, according to a source at ESPN.

United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, has expressed interest in acquiring Brobbey from his former club , Ajax, since his initial summer at Old Trafford. Although inquiries were made about the striker’s availability in 2022, the club allocated their budget to other targets, such as Brazil winger Antony.

Despite Ten Hag’s continued interest in Brobbey, who has notched up an impressive 15 goals for Ajax this season, financial constraints, particularly for permanent deals, are reportedly a limiting factor.

Brobbey could potentially provide cover upfront for Rasmus Højlund and Marcus Rashford, especially with Anthony Martial, who is managing a hip injury, expected to stay put in January despite the club’s openness to offers.

While United remains open to potential signings this month, the primary focus has been on addressing financial concerns ahead of the summer transfer window.

The club has already approved several departures, including Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek, Sergio Reguilón, Hannibal Mejbri, Álvaro Fernández, Joe Hugill, and Mateo Mejia.

With Martial anticipated to leave on a free transfer in the summer, United is actively exploring options for another forward. Brobbey is likely to be part of the conversation, particularly if Ten Hag continues as manager after the impending overhaul led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS.

Ratcliffe, the British billionaire who recently secured a 25% stake in the club, has made his first major appointment. Omar Berrada, who resigned as the chief football operations officer at Manchester City, will join as CEO.

The official start date for Berrada is yet to be announced as United awaits the ratification of Ratcliffe’s agreement by the Premier League. Ratcliffe and his team anticipate receiving the green light to commence official work in February.

  • Jordan Henderson sorry for ‘sudden’ Saudi exit

Jordan Henderson sorry for ‘sudden’ Saudi exit

Jordan Henderson has issued an apology for potentially causing offence with his decision to join Saudi Arabia, acknowledging the criticism surrounding his move.

Despite the controversy, the newly signed Ajax player asserts that his fundamental beliefs have remained unchanged.

The English midfielder faced backlash for leaving Liverpool for the Middle East in 2023, especially given his previous advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights during his tenure at Anfield.

Henderson, now back in Europe after securing a two-and-a-half-year contract with Ajax, expressed remorse for disappointing any supporters but emphasised that his core principles have remained consistent. The former Liverpool captain stated,

“If any people from that community feel let down or hurt, I apologise. If anyone was offended or feel as though I upset them, that’s on me; that was my decision, and I apologise for that. It was never my intention. I just want to look forward now and concentrate on being the best player I can for Ajax. My beliefs have never changed and never will. Again, I can only apologise if people feel let down.”

Henderson said of cutting his time in the Saudi Pro League short, having initially committed to a £350,000-per-week contract at Al-Ettifaq: “I think a lot of people would like me to criticise the Saudi League; that’s not something I’m going to do. I have a lot of respect for them and those that made me feel welcome. If anyone is offended, I apologise; that was never my intention.”

He added when asked if he has any regrets: “Looking back at the time, it was a big decision and one I felt was right for me. Things change quickly in football and I’m happy to make this decision (to come to Ajax), and I felt this opportunity was too big to turn down for me.

“In life, if you want to call them regrets or mistakes, you can, but they’re only mistakes if you don’t learn from them and I learnt a lot of things about Saudi Arabia. I haven’t got a bad word to say about anyone. I have friends over there I’ll speak to forever and there were still positives to come out of it. In the end, it didn’t turn out the way we both wanted to, but it ended on great terms.”

Henderson says he is now ready to commit himself fully to the Ajax cause, with the Dutch giants enduring uncharacteristic struggles this season that have left them fifth in the Eredivisie table and with the Europa League providing their only route to major silverware.

  • Jordan Henderson completes a move to Ajax, shares experience

Jordan Henderson completes a move to Ajax, shares experience

English midfielder is aiming to secure a spot in the squad through a return to Europe. Ajax has officially confirmed the acquisition of Jordan Henderson following his departure from Al Ettifaq.

On Thursday evening, the Saudi Arabian club released a statement confirming Henderson’s exit and insisted that it wanted to be “respectful” of his desire to leave.

The 33-year-old departs after only six months of a three-year contract, which was worth a reported £350,000 a week after he made the controversial move to head to the Middle East from Liverpool last summer.

With Euro 2024 coming up and Ettifaq labouring in mid-table of the Saudi Pro League, Henderson pushed for a return to Europe and will see out the season with Dutch giants Ajax.

Henderson said in a statement: “I’d like to thank the club, the fans and all involved for the opportunity and wish them the best for the remainder of the season. A lot of hard work is going in which I know will pay off in the future.”

Ettifaq club president Samer Al Misehal added: “Firstly, the club would like to thank Jordan for his efforts and wish him the best for his future endeavours.

“We are always respectful of our players. The club and Jordan believe this quick decision, without any delay or further distraction, has been made for both the overall good of the club and for Jordan.”

Ajax endured a tough start to the season but a good run of results have returned them to the top five of the Eredivisie.

Manager John van ‘t Schip said: “We wanted an experienced midfielder with leadership qualities. Partly due to injuries, we were also looking for someone who can be there immediately. Jordan Henderson is such a player.

“His arrival is a major boost in quality for our squad. Both on and off the field, a footballer of this calibre is also important for our many young players. He is an England international and has won the Champions League and many other trophies with Liverpool. I am happy with his arrival and I think it is very good for our club that he is now an Ajax player.”

    In Amsterdam, Henderson
is set to don the No. 6 jersey.

  • Henderson joins Ajax, terminates Al-Ettifaq contract

Henderson joins Ajax, terminates Al-Ettifaq contract

Jordan Henderson has decided to terminate his contract with the Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq and has made a permanent move to Ajax.

The former Liverpool captain’s stint in the Middle East has come to an end after just six months, concluding a three-year deal that began in July of the previous year.

The 33-year-old midfielder has now signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Ajax, one of the prominent football clubs in the Netherlands.

While Henderson departs Al-Ettifaq, the Saudi Pro League team has extended the contract of their manager, Steven Gerrard, until 2027. Gerrard, who played a crucial role in bringing Henderson to the Middle East, will continue his managerial role with the club.

During his time with Al-Ettifaq, Henderson played 19 games and provided five assists across all competitions under the management of his former Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard.

Henderson’s move to Ajax comes at a time when the Dutch club is experiencing a resurgence, currently sitting in fifth place in the Eredivisie after winning five of their last six league matches.

Boss John van ‘t Schip said: “We wanted an experienced midfielder with leadership qualities.

“Partially due to injuries in the team, we were looking for someone who could step in immediately. Henderson is that type of player.

“His arrival means a huge enhancement for our squad. both on and off the pitch. Afootball player of this calibre is important for our many young players.

“He’s an England international and has won the Champions League and many other prizes with Liverpool.

“I am happy he’s here and I think it’s very good for our club.”

After ending his short stay in Saudi, Henderson said: “I’d like to thank the club, the fans and all involved for the opportunity and wish them the best for the remainder of the season.

“A lot of hard work is going in, which I know will pay off in the future.”

With Henderson back in European football, his focus will no doubt be to secure his place in the England squad for Euro 2024.

  • Jordan Henderson’s move to Ajax approved by Al-Ettifaq

Jordan Henderson’s move to Ajax approved by Al-Ettifaq

Liverpool legend Jordan Henderson has reportedly secured a preliminary agreement with Ajax, successfully convincing Al-Ettifaq to allow his departure. Despite completing a £12 million ($15m) transfer to Al-Ettifaq in the summer of 2023, the former Liverpool captain is eager to leave the Middle East.

Reports suggest that Henderson’s decision was influenced by the challenges his family has faced in adapting to life in Saudi Arabia.

According to The Athletic, Henderson has managed to negotiate an early termination of his three-year contract with Al-Ettifaq, which he signed last summer.

While initially resistant to his departure, the Saudi Pro League side has now softened its stance, granting Henderson permission for a permanent transfer.

The midfielder is on his way back to England and has agreed, in principle, to join Ajax. Upon completion of the required paperwork and medical examination, Henderson will be officially unveiled as a new Ajax player.

Henderson made 17 appearances in the Saudi Pro League, providing four assists under former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard. However, he struggled to make a significant impact as Al-Ettifaq slipped to eighth place with just 25 points from 19 matches.

Upon his arrival at Ajax, Henderson is expected to contribute immediately, given the team’s struggles in the current campaign. Ajax underwent a managerial change in October when Maurice Steijn was dismissed after only 11 games in charge, with the team sitting second from the bottom in the Eredivisie.

Under interim head coach John van ‘t Schip, Ajax has experienced a significant turnaround, remaining unbeaten in the league with seven wins and two draws in nine matches, propelling them to fifth place in the standings.

Ajax confirm talks for Jordan Henderson’s move to the German club

Ajax coach John van ‘t Schip has publicly acknowledged the club’s interest in acquiring Jordan Henderson, the former Liverpool captain.

Earlier this week, sources informed ESPN that Henderson, currently unsettled in Saudi Arabia, is being pursued by Ajax, as well as teams from the Premier League and Bundesliga.

Van ‘t Schip, speaking before the Eredivisie match against Go Ahead Eagles, confirmed ongoing discussions regarding a potential transfer.

“There is serious talk going on with Henderson,” Van ‘t Schip said. “He still has some things to arrange in Saudi Arabia.
“It could be a nice match. It’s no secret that we could really use that type of player. Other guys can benefit from that.”

Despite Ajax’s interest in signing Jordan Henderson, a source informed ESPN that Al Ettifaq might not be eager to allow the experienced midfielder to leave, considering he joined just a few months ago.

Henderson, 33, made the move to the Saudi Pro League from Liverpool in July 2023 after a successful 12-year stint at Anfield. Al Ettifaq is hesitant about his departure, as it could impact both the club’s and the league’s reputation.

While Ajax is open to a transfer with a modest fee, they are not enthusiastic about a loan arrangement, recognising that Henderson’s transfer value may decrease due to his age.

If an agreement cannot be reached with Al Ettifaq within the next two weeks, Ajax may explore alternative options to reinforce their midfield.

Kudus’ agent details why West Ham star missed Chelsea move

Reports suggested that Mohammed Kudus, the Black Stars midfielder, was on the brink of a transfer to Chelsea, with both parties agreeing on personal terms.

However, the deal ultimately fell through.

According to his agent, Jennifer Mendelewitsch, the deal couldn’t come to fruition because Chelsea declined to meet Ajax’s €40 million asking price.

Mendelewitsch revealed in an interview with RMC that Chelsea had offered to pay only half of the asking price, an offer that Ajax rejected.

In an unexpected twist, West Ham United stepped in and agreed to meet Ajax’s demands, successfully securing the signing of the talented Ghanaian player.

Kudus has made a promising start to his journey at West Ham, finding the net three times despite limited playing time. He has yet to secure a starting spot in a Premier League game, having featured in five matches, played a total of 72 minutes, and scored one goal.

His three starts in eight games have primarily been in the Europa League and the English Football League Cup.

Fans banned from final minutes of Ajax-Feyenoord game after violent stadium clash

Dutch Football Federation has declared that the final 35 minutes of the match between Ajax and Feyenoord will take place without spectators present.

During Sunday’s match, Ajax, a Dutch football powerhouse, found themselves trailing 3-0 after 55 minutes as their rivals from Rotterdam humiliated them on their home turf.

In Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Arena, a few passionate Ajax fans even ignited flares on the field.

Having been put on hold twice, the referee was forced to call time on the game.

“According to the KNVB, in such situations, “a match should preferably be decided on the pitch… the match must then be resumed as soon as possible.”

Enraged Ajax supporters caused damage to the stadium entrance and engaged in clashes with mounted police, necessitating the use of tear gas to disperse the crowd as the violence spilled beyond the stadium.

These regrettable incidents represent a new low in Ajax’s ongoing troubles, with the four-time European Cup champions facing challenges both on and off the field.

According to certain sources, Ajax is currently rejecting the solution proposed by the Dutch association, citing the ongoing volatility of the situation.

In contrast, Feyenoord is keen to see the match resume sooner rather than later.

The match is expected to recommence on Wednesday, September 27, starting from the point it was suspended (55 minutes into the game).

Kudus hasn’t had enough play time at West Ham, coach explains why

West Ham United’s Head Coach, David Moyes, has emphasised that it will take some time for new signing Kudus Mohammed to adapt to the team’s playing style.

Kudus had a brief appearance for the London-based club in their 2-1 victory over Luton Town before the international break. During the break, he had a prolific spell, scoring two goals for Ghana against the Central African Republic in a friendly and Liberia in an international friendly.

Despite his promising start, the former Right to Dream product has yet to secure a full-time role after two games. On Saturday, September 16, he began as a substitute against Manchester City.

Kudus, aged 23, made a significant move to West Ham United from Dutch giants AFC Ajax in August, with the transfer fee amounting to €45 million.

Moyes, in a post-match discussion, acknowledged, “We might need to wait a little more time for Mo (Kudus) to get settled in.”

Kudus could potentially be handed a starting position when West Ham United faces Serbian side TSC Backa Topola in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, September 21.

Did he have to go to West Ham? – Dutch football legend upset over Kudus move, questions Ajax management

Renowned Dutch football figure Marco van Basten has expressed his disapproval of Ajax’s decision to transfer Mohammed Kudus to West Ham United.

Van Basten believes that Ajax supporters attend matches with the anticipation of watching the Ghanaian talent, who recently signed a five-year contract with West Ham United following three successful seasons at Ajax.

The reasoning behind selling the 23-year-old shortly after an exceptional season with the club last year baffles van Basten, as he questions the rationale behind such a move.

“Why is he going to West Ham, why?” Van Basten said on Ziggo Sport Voetbal.

“He still has a two-year contract. Surely Ajax is in the business of making a good team, not just making money?

“What is the function of a football club? To entertain the public and give players the opportunity to excel, or to make money?

“You are going to sell people now because you will have money. He still has everything to show at Ajax. He has done well for a year. For him, people come to the stadium.”

Kudus’ mother, brother join to witness player’s move to West Ham United

On Sunday, August 27, the English Premier League team West Ham United officially announced the signing of Mohammed Kudus.

Despite stiff competition from top European clubs, the Hammers successfully secured the services of the talented Ghanaian attacker, who was previously with Dutch powerhouse Ajax.

At 23 years old, Kudus has inked a five-year contract with West Ham, marking the club’s third significant acquisition of the summer. This follows the signings of his former Ajax teammate and Mexican international Edson Álvarez, as well as English midfielder James Ward-Prowse.

Amidst the images shared by the club, a particular family photo has garnered attention across social media platforms. The snapshot portrays Kudus, his mother, and two of his brothers, taken at the home grounds of his new team. This display of family togetherness during pivotal moments in Kudus’s career is being celebrated online.

Known for his versatile skills on the field and his adeptness in both creating and scoring goals, Kudus has risen as one of Europe’s most coveted young talents in football. Now, he is ready to showcase his abilities at West Ham’s London Stadium.

In an interview with West Ham’s media, Kudus expressed his excitement about wearing the No. 14 shirt for the club. He mentioned, “Playing in a league like this has been a dream of mine since childhood.”

“I’ve been dreaming of this moment and I’m so happy to be here. But it doesn’t stop here, I want to keep going.”

He added, “I try my best to entertain the fans, as I think that’s what football is all about. I’m just here to do my best and help the team. I’m really happy to be here. I will fight for the badge. I can’t wait to get started.”

The 2022–23 season saw Kudus take his game to a new level, with goals against Liverpool, Napoli, and Rangers in the Champions League, eleven more in the Dutch Eredivisie and one each in the UEFA Europa League, Dutch Cup, and Johan Cruyff Shield, taking his total to 19 goals and seven assists in all competitions.

With West Ham, he secures a position on the wings, resembling his role in his final seasons at Ajax. However, he would encounter competition from Bowen, who has displayed exceptional performances for the club in recent times.

Furthermore, Kudus will also have the opportunity to operate in his favoured number 10 position, as West Ham United currently lack a playmaker.

    Becomes poster boy

Mohammed Kudus holds the status of a prominent figure at Ajax and has the potential to achieve a similar standing at West Ham United, owing to his influence.

As one of the premier talents under the age of 23 globally, Kudus has captured the spotlight. With West Ham United experiencing the departure of their key player, Declan Rice, this summer, the opportunity for this distinction is open.

Yet, Kudus might encounter rivalry from Brazilian sensation Lucas Paqueta, who has risen to the occasion following Rice’s exit.

Arsenal confirms new signing Jurrien Timber’s ACL injury, anticipates an extended stay on sidelines

Timber, who recently joined the club from Ajax just last month, made his competitive debut during the 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

However, his appearance was cut short in the early stages of the second half, fueling speculation about a potential severe knee injury.

The confirmation has now come in, revealing the unfortunate truth.

The right-back, Timber, is set to undergo surgery for the injury, plunging him into a lengthy period of rehabilitation.

As a consequence, he is expected to be sidelined for several months, with the likelihood of missing the entirety of the 2023–24 season.

“Further to detailed assessments with consultant specialists since Saturday, we can confirm that Jurrien Timber has sustained an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee,” said the club in an official statement. “Jurrien will undergo surgery in the coming days and will be out of action for a period of time.”

Writing on social media, the player said: “Gutted to share that my injury is more serious than expected, especially after the warm welcome I’ve received. I wanted to repay you on the pitch, which will not be possible for the forthcoming period.”

While the player will undoubtedly be eager to make a swift return to the field, it’s probable that his season has concluded prematurely. Arsenal’s priority will be to avoid hastening his comeback in order to prevent any potential setbacks or relapses.

Every report about Kudus leaving Ajax is false – Ajax coach

Ajax manager Maurice Steijn remains optimistic that Ghanaian talent Mohammed Kudus will remain with the club for the upcoming 2023–24 football season.

Throughout the summer, Kudus, a prominent figure in Ghana’s national team, has been surrounded by transfer rumors.

In Ajax’s first match of the new Dutch Eredivisie season against Heracles on Saturday, Kudus was included in the starting lineup and contributed a goal in their impressive 4-1 comeback victory.

During a post-match interview, Maurice Steijn emphasised that, despite the various speculations, there is no concrete information regarding the potential transfer of the midfielder.

Steijn conveyed that Kudus is fully focused on delivering his best performance for Ajax.

“I have read a lot of reports about Kudus this week, but there is literally nothing right now that points to him leaving. I spoke to him this week, and he is fully focused on Ajax. He is a jewel for Ajax,” Maurice Steijn said.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Ajax are still working on a deal to sign Mohammed Kudus before the summer transfer window closes.

Ajax coach Maurice Steijn has acknowledged the significant attention surrounding Mohammed Kudus and indicated that a potential transfer could materialise in the upcoming week.

As Ajax prepares to commence their Eredivisie campaign against Heracles on Saturday, Steijn has affirmed that Kudus remains eligible for selection.

“Mohammed Kudus can play tomorrow. There’s a lot happening around him, but nothing concrete has materialised yet. I’m pleased that he’ll be available for us tomorrow,” Steijn stated.

In the midst of escalating speculations, reports have suggested that Ajax and Brighton have reached an agreement on a transfer fee of 40 million euros for Kudus’ move to the Premier League club.

Despite attracting interest from English powerhouses Chelsea and Arsenal, this arrangement has progressed despite a hitch: negotiations on personal terms between Kudus and Brighton.

Allegedly, the 23-year-old midfielder seeks to incorporate a release clause in his contract before finalizing the move.

Although Kudus remains under contract until 2025, his decision in April to decline a one-year extension underscored his desire for new challenges beyond his tenure at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Kudus’ tenure at Ajax has been undeniably impressive, yielding a notable 16 goals across 63 Eredivisie appearances.

As the transfer saga unfolds, the football community eagerly awaits the outcome, marking a potential new chapter for the talented midfielder.

  • Kudus move to Brighton has delayed, find out why

Dutch media reports suggest that a potential transfer involving Ajax midfielder Kudus Mohammed and Premier League team Brighton and Hove Albion has hit a roadblock due to a release clause.

Allegedly, Kudus is requesting the inclusion of a release clause in the deal, a demand that Brighton has declined to accommodate.

This refusal by the club to agree to a release clause has caused delays in discussions over personal terms, leading to uncertainty about the transfer’s current feasibility.

As previously noted by Dutch journalist Tim van Duijn, Ajax has given the player a 48-hour timeframe to reach an agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion.

Brighton has already reached an arrangement with Ajax to secure Kudus for a transfer fee amounting to 40 million euros.

At present, both Ajax and Brighton are awaiting the player’s approval to proceed and finalize the transaction.

According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs reached an accord back in July, with the player’s decision now being the decisive factor.

Despite interest from notable clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Borussia Dortmund, no formal bids have been presented to Ajax for Mohammed Kudus.

The Ghanaian midfielder still has two years remaining on his contract, having initially signed a five-year deal with Ajax in 2020 following his transfer from Nordsjaelland.

Renowned Dutch club Ajax is actively searching for a successor to Mohammed Kudus as he prepares to depart this summer, according to reports.

The Ghanaian striker has been the subject of various transfer speculations in recent months.

Despite significant interest from clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Borussia Dortmund, Kudus remains an integral part of Ajax.

Over the weekend, news emerged that Brighton & Hove Albion from the English Premier League have secured an agreement with Ajax to acquire Kudus.

While the possibility of losing the prominent Ghanaian player is acknowledged, Ajax is proactively scouting potential candidates to fill his shoes.

Among the prospects being considered is young Ghanaian talent Ernest Nuamah. Ajax perceives Nuamah as an ideal replacement for Kudus and is reportedly ready to present an offer to FC Nordsjaelland in the event of Kudus’s departure this summer.

Aged 20, Nuamah has already made a name for himself in the Danish Superliga since last season. Impressively, he has tallied four goals and contributed one assist in just three appearances this season.

Ajax making attempts to convince Kudus to stay at club for another season – Reports

Ajax, the prominent Dutch team, remains optimistic about retaining the services of Ghanaian talent Mohammed Kudus for another season.

Recent reports from Footballghana have highlighted that several European clubs are vying to secure Mohammed Kudus as a transfer target.

Notably, English Premier League outfit Chelsea seems to be leading the pursuit to acquire the skilled attacker.

While acknowledging the possibility of Mohammed Kudus departing before the summer transfer window closes, Ajax officials have expressed their desire for the player to remain with the club for an additional season.

In the past day, sources have revealed ongoing discussions between the Eredivisie powerhouse and representatives of the Black Stars forward.

These talks are aimed at persuading Kudus to dedicate the upcoming football season to Ajax in the Netherlands.

Sources suggest that Kudus is not feeling rushed and is committed to performing at his best for Ajax in case a transfer doesn’t materialize this summer.

As his contributions during pre-season have already demonstrated, Kudus would hold a pivotal role for Ajax if he decides to continue his tenure with the club.

Ajax warns prospective buyers of Kudus of price increase getting to close of transfer window

Ajax has issued a warning to potential suitors Arsenal and Chelsea regarding midfielder Mohammed Kudus’ transfer fee.

The 22-year-old has been a subject of interest for both London clubs, particularly after his impressive performance of scoring 18 goals for Ajax in the previous season.

Currently valued at £40m ($51m), Ajax’s sporting director Sven Mislintat has indicated that the price for Kudus will increase as the transfer window approaches its end on September 1.

“There are clubs that have informally enquired about him. I don’t expect an offer very soon, although you know that things can be different in the football world. Perhaps the interest in not as serious as everyone thinks.

“It is important for us that the relationship with the players remains good. This can be done by being transparent and applying good principles. As we get closer to the deadline, the transfer fee, for example, goes up,” he stated in an interview with Ajax Life.

Mislintat made it clear that they do now want to part ways with Kudus or West Ham target Edson Alvarez but they will not stop the players from leaving if their asking price is met.

“There is no fixed deadline, but there are agreements we must have to get replacements if we have not already done so proactively. Their stay or sale also depends on what we will do next.

“The best thing for is if Kudus and [West Ham target Edson] Alvarez stay, then we keep two top players.

“But it is also possible that one goes, or both,” he added.
It is believed that Kudus prefers a move to Arsenal over Chelsea since the Gunners can offer Champions League football. Now it remains to be seen, if Mikel Arteta urges his management to expedite the transfer process.

  • Chelsea pursuing Kudus for these 5 reasons

Chelsea pursuing Kudus for these 5 reasons

Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus has attracted interest from several elite clubs in Europe with Chelsea being the latest in joining the list.

On Saturday the Athletic reported that the 22-year-old has emerged as a target for Pochetinho’s side who are willing to make amends for their terrible showing last season.

However, they are also believed to be exploring options in Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise as well as French attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki.

While all three look promising, it is Kudus who may appear as an all-round footballer for the Blues given his versatility.

Here are five factors driving Chelsea to acquire the talented player.

Could be an option in central midfield

The first reason why Chelsea could double up their efforts for Mohammed Kudus is due to inadequate central midfielders.

The Blues lost Jorgingho and Kovacic to Arsenal and Manchester City respectively and are desperate to get experience in that position despite the presence of Andrey Santos and Cesare Casadei who are considered the future of the club.

In addition, Gallagher is expected to leave as he seems surplus to requirement per reports.

With respect to experience, Enzo remains the only notable central midfielder and would need others to complement his efforts.

Caicedo is expected to join Chelsea with agreement between the Blues and Brighton being the only stumbling block.

However, should that deal materialise, the Ecuadorian cannot pair with Enzo throughout the season considering possible injuries and the number of matches awaiting the London side in the upcoming season.

Kudus may not be a notable central midfielder but he has experience in playing more centrally having done so during his days at Nordjaelland while his ball-carrying strength and swift left foot gives him that advantage to maintain possession.

    Can play all attacking roles

Kudus stands out among the other two options on Chelsea’s wishlist due to his exceptional flexibility. His ability to excel in various attacking positions, including center-forward, makes him a preferred choice. He has showcased his clinical finishing skills multiple times while playing in that role for Ajax, giving him a clear advantage over Olise and Cherki in the forward position.

Moreover, Kudus has also proven himself as a dynamic presence from the right flank on several occasions. Additionally, he can be an effective attacking midfielder, even though his passing abilities may not be as strong as his scoring prowess.

Depending on Pochettino’s instructions, the Ghanaian midfielder can be a significant force operating behind the striker. The potential departures of players like Mount and Havertz might influence Pochettino’s consideration to utilize Kudus in such a role.

    Affordable and accessible now

Kudus is currently available for acquisition, and it is probable that he will still be available next year. However, the competition for his signature is likely to intensify as more clubs express interest in him.

If Kudus continues to impress with another standout season at Ajax, it may even lead to a bidding war among potential suitors. The multiple suggestions that he should move to the Bundesliga, Brighton and Hove Albion, or stay at Ajax to further develop indicate one thing: his value is on the rise.

To avoid potential future competition for his signing, Chelsea might be swift in their pursuit of Kudus. His current price tag for this summer is estimated at around £40 million, but if he joins another team in the future, his value is likely to be higher, provided he maintains his remarkable form.

    Player’s zeal to move on

This summer appears to be the perfect time for Chelsea to make the move not only because of the price tag but also because of the player’s zeal to move on. A few months ago, his agent confirmed the rejection of a contract extension to stay for more years with the Dutch giants indicating his willingness to start a new chapter.

Anything can happen in the space of one season including changing his mind to extend his deal at Ajax or accept an offer elsewhere. Thankfully, other clubs who had initially shown interest have not really shown seriousness with Manchester United settling on Mount and Arsenal getting Havertz.

    Played at the highest level

Kudus has experienced success both at the club and international level. His remarkable performances in the UEFA Champions League saw him score four goals in six group matches, including impressive goals against Napoli and Liverpool.

Representing Ghana at the World Cup, Kudus showcased his prowess by scoring two crucial goals that helped propel his team to their only win in the tournament. Additionally, he provided an assist for their first goal against Portugal. Even in their last group game, Kudus’ adventurous play won Ghana a penalty, although it was eventually missed against Uruguay.

Despite doubts raised about the challenges of the Premier League and how players from different environments may struggle to adapt, Chelsea can find comfort in Kudus’ ability to shine on the grandest stages of football. His track record of performing well in high-pressure situations could be an asset for the club.

The absence of the Ghanaian player in the team’s morning session was confirmed by the club through an official statement released on the same day.

“Kudus is absent from training for medical reasons. He stayed indoors and received treatment for a minor injury.”

Mohammed Kudus, the talented midfielder from Ajax, is actively seeking a departure from the Dutch side during this summer transfer window, as he has garnered attention from various European clubs.

Notably, Arsenal and Brighton and Hove Albion have shown significant interest in the Black Stars midfielder, while Chelsea has also expressed their intentions despite concerns about his injury.

Ajax, open to the idea of parting ways with Kudus, has set a €50 million price tag on the Ghanaian player, whose contract with the club is set to run until 2025.

Arsenal is showing interest in Mohammed Kudus, the Ghanaian and Ajax midfielder who recently scored two goals in a pre-season match on July 18, 2023, according to the Daily Mail,

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta is reportedly impressed by Kudus’ versatility and is keen on bringing him to the Emirates.

However, any potential transfer would depend on Arsenal’s ability to offload some of their unwanted players, including Kieran Tierney, Baloghun, Rob Holding, and Cedric Soares, as the club seeks to generate funds from their sales.

The report also emphasizes that Arsenal is not willing to sell Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey unless they receive a significant offer for the 30-year-old.

The story about Mohammed Kudus has excited Arsenal fans who are calling on the club to make it happen.

On the social media platform Twitter, Arsenal reacted in excitement to the report as they believe Kudus will be the final piece of the puzzle.

They believe that Kudus is tailored for the Left Central Midfield role and could also be a competent back for Bukayo Saka on the right wing.

Mohammed Kudus has scored 23 goals and provided 11 assists in 84 games with Ajax.

In an exhilarating preseason encounter against Shakhtar, Ghanaian talent Mohammed Kudus showcased his abilities on the field and more.

Kudus, sporting a new jersey number, captivated the audience as he propelled Ajax to victory, leaving fans ecstatic with his dynamic performance.

The young midfielder now dons the number 7 jersey, a change from his previous number 20 during his time at the Dutch club.

Last season, the number 7 shirt was worn by Dutch forward Steven Bergwijn, who joined Ajax from the Premier League team Tottenham.

In today’s match, Kudus started the game but was substituted at halftime, with Ajax securing a commanding 3-0 victory over the Ukrainian side.

Kudus kicked off the scoring for the Dutch giants, converting from the penalty spot in the 19th minute. He then turned provider, setting up Steven Bergwijn to score Ajax’s second goal in the 32nd minute.

Just two minutes later, the former FC Nordjaelland star found the back of the net again, extending Ajax’s lead to 3-0 after receiving a pass from Steven Bergwijn.

With a three-goal advantage at halftime, Ajax comfortably maintained their lead in the highly anticipated friendly at the Sportpark De Toekomst.

No further goals were scored in the second half, resulting in a decisive victory for Ajax over the Ukrainian opponents.

United have come back with a new offer of €50 million, along with the possibility of an additional €5 million in add-ons.

The player in question is a 27-year-old Cameroon international who previously played under United manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

The club has already reached an agreement on personal terms with the player.

Last season, the goalkeeper had an impressive performance for Inter, making 41 appearances across all competitions, including the Champions League final where they were defeated by Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Inter is looking to secure replacements for the goalkeeper position and has set their sights on Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Anatolji Trubin.

United have been in the market for a new goalkeeper all summer, with David de Gea out of contract and leaving Old Trafford after 12 years of service.

  • Arsenal race for Ajax’s Timber to fortify defence

Arsenal race for Ajax’s Timber to fortify defence

The injury to William Saliba was undoubtedly the main reason why Arsenal failed to win the Premier League championship the previous year.

The Arsenal didn’t have the same kind of depth as Manchester City did in the latter weeks of the season, but Jurrien Timber’s probable acquisition would help to some extent.

One of the best young centre backs in Europe, Timber, who is on his way from Ajax, can also play right back or in holding midfield.

The addition of players of this calibre to the squad is encouraging for the Gunners as Champions League play will return to the Emirates in the upcoming season.

    Brain over brawn

Twelve months ago, Timber’s height — 5ft 10in — might have put Arsenal off this move.

But the Dutchman has former Ajax centre-back partner Lisandro Martinez to thank for proving that brain beats brawn in the Premier League.

Martinez was dismissed as too short when he first signed for Manchester United, particularly after a shaky start, but has used his leap and timing to overcome his stature.

Ronald de Boer, who coached Timber in the Ajax youth system, told The Athletic: “He has to be smart, he has to think a few steps ahead.

“Look at Martinez, everyone thought he wasn’t big enough or strong enough, but he’s been one of the revelations of Manchester United. You have guys who can handle it.”

Jurrien Timber makes up for a lack of height with his positioning
Jurrien Timber makes up for a lack of height with his positioning
    Ajax upbringing

Arteta should relish working with a player he knows will understand his complex instructions.

Ajax players are notoriously tactically aware and Timber has played most of his senior football under Erik ten Hag, another boss with sophisticated ideas.

His former Netherlands Under-17s boss Kees van Wonderen said: “Some players you need to tell things over and over again, but he [Timber] understands really quickly.

“He combines his technical ability with his mindset and his tactical awareness on the pitch. That’s so important in the modern player.”

The Netherlands international appears the perfect fit for a system that asks defenders to pick up unconventional positions in possession.

    Total football

Timber’s use of the ball was outstanding in the last Eredivisie season.

Renowned for his understanding of when and where to take risks, the 22-year-old played by far the highest number of passes of all centre-backs in the Dutch top flight and also completed the second-most dribbles.

That same understanding of the game comes across in his defending, too.

He ranked fifth for interceptions and ninth for tackles among his positional rivals.

Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus has been the subject of transfer speculation, with several European clubs, including Manchester United, expressing interest in acquiring his services.

However, despite the active transfer market, there have been no concrete developments regarding Kudus’ future.

The talented youngster has garnered attention due to his impressive performances and potential, leading to him being linked with various clubs since last summer.

Although he has faced injury setbacks in the past two seasons, his value remains high, and he is highly regarded by several clubs.

While it is widely expected that Mohammed Kudus will leave Ajax during the current transfer window, reliable sources indicate that no club has officially made an offer to the Dutch Eredivisie champions thus far.

Among the potential suitors, Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion, Dortmund, and Manchester United have emerged as ideal destinations for the Ghanaian player.

Reports from the Netherlands suggest that Ajax is hoping to secure a transfer fee in the range of 60–80 million euros for the talented sensation.

Despite his injury setbacks, Kudus managed to impress during the previous season, scoring 18 goals in all competitions for Ajax, even though he missed a number of games due to his time on the sidelines.

  • Kudus exit from Ajax this season, a huge cash out for the club – Dutch journalist

It is expected that Ghanaian football star Mohammed Kudus would command a significant transfer fee if he were to move during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Dutch journalist Mike Verweij.

Verweij mentioned during the Kick Off podcast that while Kudus’s price tag would be substantial, it wouldn’t reach the same magnitude as the fee Ajax received for selling Antony to Manchester United last summer.

“Brighton are the most serious. But if Manchester United become serious about Kudus, then Erik ten Hag can do great things for his former club again just like when he bought Antony for €100m (£86.5m).

Kudus won’t go for the same price but his price would surely go up,” Mike Vermeij said.

During the 2022/23 football season, Mohammed Kudus starred for Ajax although he had issues with injuries.

He finished the season with 18 goals after making 42 appearances in all competitions.

    He also provided seven assists.

This summer, Mohammed Kudus is wanted by several clubs including Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion.

  • Peter Bosz is PSV’s new boss

Peter Bosz is PSV’s new boss

Ruud van Nistelrooy will be replaced by Peter Bosz at PSV Eindhoven.

Bosz, 59, was ousted from his position as Lyon’s head coach in October.

The Dutchman has previously played for German clubs Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen as well as Ajax, where he led the Amsterdam giants to the 2016–17 Europa League final.

Bosz has been chosen by PSV to replace Van Nistelrooy, who left the Philips Stadion after the club won the Johan Cruyff Shield and KNVB Cup that season.

On the new position, Bosz said: “It’s a good feeling to be the head coach of this big club.

“I’ve felt at home since the first meeting. Both PSV and I are hungry for trophies. PSV won two prizes last season but it’s our aim to win the Eredivisie title this coming season. We will give our very best to reach our dream goal.

“I think there will be a good connection between my coaching style and the squad. PSV largely dominated Dutch football for several spells and I am looking forward to reliving that period.”

PSV director of football Earnest Stewart added: “Along with the players, the head coach is the most important person within our organization.

“That’s why we looked to fill the vacant managerial position as quickly as possible, also with an eye on the summer transfer window. Peter was our first-choice candidate, so we are pleased to have him on board.”

PSV ended the 2022-23 season two points behind champions Feyenoord, while they exited the Europa League in the knockout round play-offs to eventual winners Sevilla.

Their pre-season campaign will get under way against FC Eindhoven on July 26 before hosting Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest on July 30.

  • Ajax let go of Heitinga, in search of new coach

Ajax let go of Heitinga, in search of new coach

Ajax are in search of a new head coach following the departure of John Heitinga.

The former Everton defender, aged 39, took over as head coach in January after Alfred Schreuder’s departure.

However, despite his efforts, Ajax fell short in their pursuit of the Eredivisie title, which was ultimately claimed by Feyenoord.

Director of football Sven Mislintat said: “This afternoon I told John.

“On a personal level, it was a tough decision and not easy to tell him.

“John stepped in at a difficult time to help the club and he did so with full conviction.

“We are very grateful to him for that. It was a difficult period. Ajax was fifth and eventually finished in third place.

“He has learned a lot in recent months and we would like to play a role in his further development and keep John connected to the club.

“But I have drawn the conclusion that Ajax must now have a more experienced coach for the group.

“For the phase we are in and for Ajax to perform better than last season, that is very important.”

Initially appointed until the end of the season, Heitinga had a promising start to his tenure as Ajax’s head coach, securing seven consecutive league victories.

However, setbacks in the form of defeats to title contenders Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven, as well as elimination from the Europa League by Union Berlin, hindered the team’s progress.

The disappointment continued with a penalty shootout loss to PSV in the KNVB Cup final. This series of events dampened the atmosphere surrounding the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Heitinga’s departure adds to the recent turmoil at Ajax, following Edwin van der Sar’s decision to step down as chief executive earlier in the week. The club now finds itself in a state of upheaval, searching for their third manager since Erik ten Hag’s departure to Manchester United the previous summer.

Premier League clubs show interest in Mohammed Kudus, Ajax seeks to make huge profit

Mohammed Kudus, the Ajax star is a notable addition to the list of European forwards seeking a move this summer.

The Ghanaian international, who had previously gone on strike in an attempt to secure a transfer to Everton last year, now has his sights set on a move to a higher-profile club.

Kudus had an impressive season with Ajax in 2022-23, finding the back of the net 18 times. Additionally, he contributed two goals during the World Cup, including a crucial match-winning performance against South Korea.

His stellar performances have caught the attention of several Champions League clubs, who are closely monitoring the talented attacker.

Given his potential and the impact he could make, Kudus has the potential to be one of the standout bargains in the upcoming transfer window.

    Ajax reshuffle

After failing to win the Eredivisie title for the first time since 2018, Ajax need to make a few changes this summer.

Fortunately, they produce and develop talent so well that the funds needed to freshen up their squad are never far away.

Kudus is out of contract in two years’ time and the priority for the Dutch side is to raise as much capital from his sale as possible, rather than allow his value to diminish.

And the dynamic goal threat is seemingly set on an exit too, with his agent Jennifer Mendelewitsch telling Dutch media: “I think it is best for both Ajax and Mohammed that he leaves now. Now is the right time.

“He has rejected an offer to extend his contract until the summer of 2026.

“What I can say is that after the World Cup and this season there is a lot of interest in Kudus.”

Mohammed Kudus is contemplating his future at Ajax

    Full of confidence

Kudus has been a bright spark for Ajax despite their disappointing campaign.

He does not mind ruffling a few feathers, either, following up last summer’s strike action by involving himself in fisticuffs with Neymar in a pre-World Cup friendly for the Black Stars.

After a few heated exchanges in the match between Ghana and Brazil, the forward said: “He’s not better than me. He’s just a higher profile player, that’s all.

“I wasn’t about to let him push me around. What makes him better, for now, is that he has achieved a lot. I’ll get there soon.”

    Style of play

Kudus’ style of play reflects that confidence.

No player completed more dribbles per game in the Dutch top tier this term, while he also ranked in the top 20 for shots.

Like several attackers with such a creative skill-set, he believes he is at his best when seeing as much of the ball as possible.

Kudus said: “I still feel that I can do my best in the No10 position. I talked about that with [ex-Ajax] trainer Erik ten Hag. In his style of play, creative and attacking, I saw myself.”
