On Sunday, August 27, the English Premier League team West Ham United officially announced the signing of Mohammed Kudus.
Despite stiff competition from top European clubs, the Hammers successfully secured the services of the talented Ghanaian attacker, who was previously with Dutch powerhouse Ajax.
At 23 years old, Kudus has inked a five-year contract with West Ham, marking the club’s third significant acquisition of the summer. This follows the signings of his former Ajax teammate and Mexican international Edson Álvarez, as well as English midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
Amidst the images shared by the club, a particular family photo has garnered attention across social media platforms. The snapshot portrays Kudus, his mother, and two of his brothers, taken at the home grounds of his new team. This display of family togetherness during pivotal moments in Kudus’s career is being celebrated online.
Known for his versatile skills on the field and his adeptness in both creating and scoring goals, Kudus has risen as one of Europe’s most coveted young talents in football. Now, he is ready to showcase his abilities at West Ham’s London Stadium.
In an interview with West Ham’s media, Kudus expressed his excitement about wearing the No. 14 shirt for the club. He mentioned, “Playing in a league like this has been a dream of mine since childhood.”
“I’ve been dreaming of this moment and I’m so happy to be here. But it doesn’t stop here, I want to keep going.”
He added, “I try my best to entertain the fans, as I think that’s what football is all about. I’m just here to do my best and help the team. I’m really happy to be here. I will fight for the badge. I can’t wait to get started.”
The 2022–23 season saw Kudus take his game to a new level, with goals against Liverpool, Napoli, and Rangers in the Champions League, eleven more in the Dutch Eredivisie and one each in the UEFA Europa League, Dutch Cup, and Johan Cruyff Shield, taking his total to 19 goals and seven assists in all competitions.
