Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana suffers fresh injury ahead of World Cup

Ghana winger, Kamaldeen Sulemana has suffered a fresh injury ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

The Stade Rennais forward suffered the injury at training grounds, the club confirmed on Friday.

Sulemana was left out of Stade Rennes squad that shared spoils with AEK Larnaca in the final Europa League group game on Thursday night.

Speaking after the game, head coach of Rennes Bruno Genesio confirmed the Ghanaian was injured and he is hoping the player is fit before the World Cup.

“He had pain in his ankle yesterday [Wednesday], he was injured. I hope for him that he will be fine for the World Cup.”

 

Sulemana has been struggling with injuries since last season after spending almost three months in the treatment room.

He has featured in 14 games this season for Stade Rennes and has scored one goal whilst providing two assists in the process.

The fomer FC Nordsjaelland forward is expected to make Ghana’s squad for the Mundial scheduled to kick off later this month in Qatar.
