Coronavirus has affected my career plans – Kotoko’s Nettey

One of the highly-rated new signings for Kumasi Asante Kotoko Christopher Nakai Nettey has revealed that COVID-19 has stalled plans he had for his football career.

Speaking to Power FM 97.9 sports in Accra, the former Attram Visser lateral back said he was in one of his best forms which he was hoping to use to announce his presence in the top flight of Ghana League

Before the global coronavirus pandemic hit Ghana premier league, Nettey established himself as Maxwell Konadu’s first-choice right-back, featuring in 14 matches.

Christopher who made a transfer move of thirty-five thousand dollars ($35000.00) from Attram De Visser Soccer Academy to the porcupine Warriors was adjudged the most valuable player (MVP) in their league game against Ashanti Gold in Kumasi, and earn nominations for Kotoko player of the month in January and February.

“I was really working hard to earn a call-up to the senior national team of Ghana, because it is always my dream to play for the Black Stars”.

“I believe in God that COVID-19 will soon be a history for football to bounce back and we will do what we know best to continue our dream” he added.

“I looked up to several great defenders across the globe to emulate because I want to become one of the greatest so I do not have a particular one as a role model but I watch Ghanaian defenders like Afful Harrison, Samuel Inkoom, i also funcy European laterals such as Dani Carvajal, Alexander Arnold and Cal Walker”, he said.
