Borteyman Sports Complex is “a world-class facility” – NFL Super Bowl champion Boye-Doe

Ekow Boye-Doe, an NFL Super Bowl champion, has praised the high standard of the Borteyman Sports Complex during his short trip to Ghana.

Boye-Doe toured the facility with Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, describing it as “world-class” and believing it will greatly contribute to developing sporting talent in the country.

“This is a world-class facility, and it doesn’t get much better than this,” he said. “Ghana is one of the first to have such a facility in Africa, and it’s beautiful.”

In February 2024, President Akufo-Addo commissioned the Borteyman Sports Complex, a newly constructed multipurpose sports facility, ahead of the 13th All-African Games. The facility can accommodate seven competitive sports, including table tennis, handball, tennis, volleyball, swimming, badminton, and the triathlon.

The Borteyman facilities include a 1,000-seater capacity swimming pool with a 10-lane competition pool and an eight-lane warm-up pool. There’s also a multipurpose Sports Hall seating 1,000 spectators for events like basketball, badminton, netball, table tennis, and weightlifting.

Additionally, there’s a 500-seater temporary dome for handball, volleyball, judo, karate, taekwondo, fencing, and arm-wrestling, as well as a five-court tennis complex with a 1,000-seater Centre Court.

Boye-Doe, born in Accra, Ghana, in 1999, relocated to Lawrence, Kansas, in the United States, at a young age. He played six games in his debut season for Kansas City and went on to win the Super Bowl Championship in 2024.
