Berekum West MP calls for consistent maintenance of national stadiums to avoid deterioration

Berekum West MP, Dickson Kyere-Duah, is calling for regular maintenance of Ghana’s national stadiums instead of waiting until they deteriorate and require costly repairs.

His comments come as discussions on renovating the country’s five national stadiums gain attention, especially with the Cape Coast and Accra Sports Stadiums set for another round of renovations.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after watching the Black Stars train, he urged Ghanaians to support the team despite their failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON.

Berekum West Member of Parliament, Dickson Kyere-Duah

“We don’t do periodic maintenance. You don’t wait for the facility to deteriorate to the levels where cost of maintenance becomes so huge. You do it periodically, every month, every quarter, every year, continuous renovation will ensure that the stadiums will stay in very good condition all the time.”

“Government should have a dedicated fund through the National Sports Authority to ensure periodic maintenance of our facilities.”
