Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has spoken highly of technical advisor Winfried Schäfer, highlighting his skill in handling tough situations.
The veteran German coach joined Ghana’s technical team after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In an interview, Addo shared his confidence in Schäfer’s influence, calling his appointment a major boost for the team.
“Winfried Schäfer has big, big experience. He has won the African Cup with Cameroon. He knows how to deal with difficult situations,” he told 3Sports.
“We’ve been talking a lot. He’s been engaging from the first day with the players, and I am very, very happy that he’s on board,” he added.
Schäfer is widely known for leading Cameroon to win the 2002 AFCON title.
Meanwhile, Ghana will play against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, at 19:00 GMT. After that, they will travel to Morocco to face Madagascar on Monday, March 24.
