Two-time Premier League winning coach Bashir Hayford has confirmed applying for the technical director position of Ghana Football Association.
Hayford recently returned home after a short stint as head coach of the Somalia national team.
The Ghana FA wants a replacement for Francis Oti Akenten, whose contract will not be renewed when it expires next month [March].
“Yes, I was told to that the FA is looking for a technical director and with my knowledge and experience in coaching I have applied without any lobbying,” he told Kumasi 104.1 FM.
“I will be very happy if I’m giving the job and it will be so sad should the FA appoint a foreigner.”
Hayford’s rich coaching experience includes handling top-flight clubs like Power FC (now defunct), Heart of Lions, Asante Kotoko, AshantiGold and Ebusua Dwarfs.
