Baba Iddrisu’s agent denies client big career move to Real Madrid

Baba Iddrisu’s representative denied the Ghana midfielder a dream career move to Real Madrid last season, GHANAsoccernet.com can report.

The Los Blancos had the deal to bring the then 23-year-old to the Santiago Bernabéu almost tied up but a problem with the player’re agent scuppered the big career move to the La Liga giants.

Madrid identified the Ghana international as a huge prospect after he helped Real Mallorca pulled off an outstanding turnaround to return to La Liga for the first time in six years to feature in the 2019-20 campaign.

Mallorca hiked the player’s buy-out clause to 45 million Euros following the extension of his contract to 2024.

And coupled with the teams’s inability to reach an agreement with his representative means, Madrid failed in their bid to sign the talented midfielder.

Mallorca’s statement announcing the extension of the player’s contract amplify a strange situation that took place.

“RCD Mallorca and Iddrisu Baba have reached an agreement to extend the footballer’s contract until June 30, 2024. On July 3, the midfielder’s renewal was made official until 2022 after reaching a first agreement. However, both parties continued to negotiate and the new contract involves extending two more seasons the bond and increasing the termination clause to 45 million euros, “the statement read on July 23, 2019.

But it has now emerged that Real Mallorca increased the player’s valuation to 45 million Euros after Madrid encountered problems with the player’s representative.

Now, Iddrisu looks more likely to sign for Atletico Madrid as a potential replacement for compatriot Thomas Partey, who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.

It would be easier for Atletico to reach an agreement with Mallorca than Madrid or any other team in the current scheme of things.
