Bayer Leverkusen has officially completed the signing of Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka (30) from Arsenal, securing his services on a five-year contract.
While the exact financial details have not been disclosed, reports from British media indicate that the German club paid around 25 million euros to secure the former Arsenal captain.
Xhaka, who joins the ranks of Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen, brings significant experience after spending seven seasons with Arsenal.
During his time at the English club, he made 297 appearances, scoring 23 goals and providing 29 assists.
Xhaka played a key role in Arsenal’s success, contributing to their two FA Cup victories.
This move marks Xhaka’s return to the German league, where he previously played for Borussia Moenchengladbach for four years before joining Arsenal in 2016.
“I know the league inside out and I watched it when I was in London. Bayer 04 is a club with an impressive history and ambitious targets,” said Xhaka.
“Above all, I see it as a club with a great future. Everybody here is ambitious and wants to achieve something – I’m very much looking forward to the next few years.”
