Arsenal is reportedly considering a bold move to secure Karim Benzema on a short-term loan from Al-Ittihad to bolster their offensive capabilities during the January transfer window.
In the 2023-24 campaign, Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah, and Kai Havertz are not fully convinced in leading the line, prompting Mikel Arteta to explore options.
According to Teamtalk, the Gunners are contemplating a sensational move for the former France international, Benzema, who, at 36, won the Ballon d’Or in 2022 and departed European football for the Middle East, following his ex-Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
While Manchester United has also been linked with Benzema, the likelihood of an approach from them is considered low.
Chelsea remains in the hunt for a proven No.9, posing a potential challenge to Arsenal’s pursuit of Benzema.
Although Arsenal is interested in Ivan Toney, a Premier League-experienced forward from Brentford, the cost of such a deal may lead the Gunners to explore temporary solutions, with Benzema emerging as a prominent consideration.
