Former Black Stars head coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor, has revealed a lot that happened during his tenure with the team.
Akonnor, who is a former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak head coach was shown the exit after a shaky start to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The former Ashgold gaffer replaced Kwesi Appiah after Ghana’s poor performance in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Egypt.
However, Akonnor was heavily criticized on most occasions for his player selection before games but revealed it is no secret that the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) imposed players on him.
“This is public knowledge,” he said on Prime Take which airs on Joy Sports.
“Many people out there just talk but they have no idea what was happening inside.
“Apart from Covid, it was a challenge controlling player call-ups,” he added.
In his tenure as head coach, the 48-year-old won four games and drew two, losing the other four before being replaced by Milovan Rajevac.
