The Black Meteors of Ghana are on verging of progressing to the final round of the TotalEnergies CAF U-23 qualifiers after securing a 2-1 win over Mozambique in the first leg on Sunday.
The victory puts Ghana on a strong footing ahead of the return leg which will be played at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, October 30,2022.
A win or a draw for Ghana in the second leg will take Ghana into the final round of the qualifiers where the Black Meteors will face either Ethiopia or Algeria.
Hearts of Oak talisman Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored two spot kicks to help coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side to secure a slim victory.
Another impressive run by Afriyie Barnieh resulted in a second penalty for the Black Meteors. He converted again to make it 2-0, however, the home side pulled one back.
The team is expected to arrive in the country on Tuesday and will head straight to Kumasi to commence camping ahead of the return on Sunday at the Baba Yara stadium.
