Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has won his second successive African Footballer of the Year award after another incredible 12 months.
“This award is very big for me, I love it because I saw it when I was young and I always had a dream to win it one day,” Salah said.
“I’m proud to win it twice, I must thank my family and my teammates, and I dedicate this award to my country, Egypt.”
The forward also won the FIFA Puskás Award in 2018 for his stunning solo effort against Everton.
And the 26-year-old has been finding the net once again this season.
Salah’s award capped off a perfect day for Egyptian football after the country was announced as hosts of this summer’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Egypt have won the competition on seven occasions, including three straight championships between 2006-2010, and beat South Africa to the honour of hosting the tournament this year.
Ahmed Shobair, vice-president of Egypt’s FA, said: “The fans will be back again in the stadiums, which will be full in the tournament I promise.”
