In an unfortunate turn of event, the victim involved in the recent assault at Adisadel College has been sanctioned.
Management of the school made this known while announcing the sanctions it has meted out to the individuals involved in the unfortunate incident.
“The victim in the incident will be suspended and will write his exams with parental escort,” management is said to have stated in a tweet.
For some social media users, they are unable to fathom the reason behind the victim’s suspension from the school.
In a video gone viral, a student in his final year held unto his junior in a Nelson hold position. The senior placed his arms under his junior’s arms while clasping his hands behind the junior’s head.
He then slammed the junior’s head to a metallic bed, causing part of his head to swell and bleed.
The unfortunate incident happened on the 30th June, 2023 in Quaque house.
Pending final decision of Board of Governors and Ghana Education Service (GES), management of Adisadel College decided to outrightly dismissed the culprit who will have to write his exams at West African Examination Council (WAEC).
The culprit has also been referred to the Police for further action.
The other sanctions are as follows:
The said student who recorded the video will be suspended externally for one week and also face internal suspension for another week.
The other students who were at the scene but did not intervene and also failed to report the incident will also face severe internal punishment, the tweet added.
Also, the housemaster and his Deputy who are to supervise the behaviour of students they are responsible for will be suspended immediately pending the outcome of the findings by GES.
Meanwhile, the GES has directed the Regional Director of Education to collaborate closely with both the school authorities and the relevant law enforcement agency to resolve the matter.
