Dancehall artist from Ghana, Shatta Wale, will perform at the retirement celebration of Togolese superstar Emmanuel Adebayor.
Shatta Wale’s involvement was verified by Adebayor in a video that he uploaded to his TikTok.
The self-proclaimed “king of African dancehall” expressed his joy at being included on the bill for the massive event.
The event, known as the Jubilee Concert, is scheduled to happen at Lomé’s Stade de Kegue.
The performance, which is one of several events planned to honour Adebayor’s retirement, is rumoured to feature additional African performers.
The youth marathon and a unique female football competition are among the events scheduled for June 19.
Following his official retirement from football in 2023, Emmanuel Adebayor announced to the globe that a sports festival would be held in June 2024 to honour his retirement
“At this moment, as I am preparing to open a new page in my life, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone, from near or far.
A great way to celebrate this moment would be to invite you all to the jubilee that the SEA Foundation is organising to mark the end,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Join me in June 2024 for this grand event, which will take the form of a sports festival for the promotion of values of peace, stability, and cohesion among the peoples of Africa.
Several activities are on the program for this jubilee, culminating in a gala match which will bring together in Lomé the big names in the world of football.”
