Political marketing analyst Professor Kobby Mensah has voiced criticism against the government regarding the launch of the Performance Tracker platform.
According to the lecturer, there are numerous deficiencies in the platform, which he believes was inadequately designed.
The government introduced the Performance Tracker on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at GIMPA in Accra, with the objective of ensuring transparency and accountability in infrastructure project execution nationwide.
Officials believe that the tracker will help address longstanding concerns regarding the accuracy and reliability of project presentations, especially concerning the use of artists’ impressions to depict outcomes.
The platform is intended to serve as a dependable mechanism for showcasing the progress and impact of infrastructure projects, fostering trust and confidence among citizens.
However, Professor Kobby Mensah expressed skepticism about the tracker’s efficacy, stating that it would not meet the standards of an undergraduate project. He highlighted the lack of evidence and reliance on unsubstantiated numbers and percentages for settings.
He further suggested that anyone who finds the platform functionally and aesthetically satisfying should be dismissed from their position, as their ability to judge quality would be questionable.
He posted on Facebook saying “The performance tracker won’t even pass for an undergraduate project. No evidence, only unsubstantiated numbers and percentages for settings. No logic function and terribly designed UI to pass for CX. This is coming from a govt of Ghana ooo, not a student assignment ???? you can have a look for yourself here. Anyone who finds this functionally and aesthetically satisfying must be fired from their work because then your quality judgment is nonexistent performancetracker.gov.gh.”
