The First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Offinso South constituency of the Ashanti Region, Mr. Dauda Afriyie, tragically lost his life in a road accident.
The incident occurred as Mr. Afriyie was riding a motorcycle from Offinso Old Town to New Town on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. Witnesses report that the accident took place when he attempted to overtake a vehicle that had slowed down to allow a school bus to turn at a junction.
As he overtook the vehicle, he realized there was a school bus ahead and collided with it, resulting in his unfortunate demise. The NPP constituency chairman for Offinso South, Salathiel Kwaku Takyi, confirmed the incident and expressed deep sorrow over Mr. Afriyie’s loss, acknowledging his significant contributions to the party over the years.
“Chairman was riding a motorcycle from Old Town to New Town. He overtook a vehicle, slowed down a bit but collided with an oncoming school bus which ran over him. He really served the party for more than 12 years. The party has lost a great personality,” he narrated.
