In a surprising turn of events, staunch Alan Kyeremanten supporter and former Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Catherine Afeku, has emphasised her unwavering support for the New Patriotic Party.

The former minister, known for her readiness to defend and advocate for the former minister, has declared that she remains with the New Patriotic Party.

As a huge supporter of Alan, she believes that “the NPP is supreme”.

Hence “if our elder brother (Alan) has decided to run as an independent candidate, it doesn’t mean that those of us in the NPP should go with him”, she said in Twi.

In a press conference held at the party’s headquarters in Accra, the NPP responded to the former Minister of Trade and Industry’s resignation from the party and his decision to run as an independent candidate.

This comes after the announcement of the same at a press conference on September 25, 2023, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

Catherine Afeku emphasised during a media interaction that all supporters of Alan who were present at the party’s office during that time continue to be members of the party and have not departed from it, unlike Alan Kyeremanten.

Additionally, they remain committed to the “mighty elephant government”.

“Just as you heard the National Youth Organiser mention earlier , most of us (Alan supporters) are here and we are here to fully support the NPP, the mighty elephant.”

“But we would like to use this platform to send out a message to all Ghanaians that the NPP is supreme and the elephant government is what we know, love and serve.”

“It was through the NPP that we got to know the leaders; hence, as you can see, our presence here is evidence of the fact that we are still with the party; we haven’t left nor will we ever leave,” she added.

She further went on to call on all who desired to join the NPP to come and “together we can make the party great and break the 8 December 2024 polls.”
