A recent poll conducted among New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates has unveiled a remarkable revelation that President Nana Akufo-Addo continues to command strong support within his party.

The comprehensive survey, which gathered the opinions of over 4,300 NPP delegates from across the country, revealed that an impressive 79% of respondents approve of the President’s performance in his role.

This poll, conducted by Global Info Analytics between October 2 and 11, holds significant importance as the NPP prepares to choose its next presidential candidate in the upcoming November 4th elections.

Akufo-Addo’s remarkable job approval rating stands out, especially given Ghana’s current economic challenges marked by rising inflation rates and currency depreciation. The data suggests that the party’s base remains firmly behind their leader even in times of adversity, demonstrating unwavering confidence in his leadership.

As the NPP gears up for a challenging re-election campaign in 2024, unity and cohesion behind President Akufo-Addo become of paramount importance. The party aims to avoid public discord or disagreements over the President’s economic management that have recently surfaced.

This show of support, however, may not guarantee votes for the establishment candidate, Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, as the NPP’s presidential race remains an open field. The Vice President holds a lead with 43.5% among delegates, but the emergence of MP Kennedy Agyapong, with 23.5% support, promises a competitive race ahead.

Whoever secures the NPP nomination will likely rely on the President’s full support to revitalize the party’s prospects and guide Ghana toward economic recovery.

The insights from the delegates’ poll suggest that Nana Akufo-Addo may play a pivotal role in determining the NPP’s future success, a factor that could be crucial as the nation approaches the 2024 elections.
