Police have detained the spouse of a National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch youth organizer in the Asante Mampong Constituency on suspicion of fatally stabbing him.
The victim, identified as Osei Akoto, a teacher in his 40s, succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital after reportedly being stabbed by his partner during a heated argument.
The tragic incident occurred in the Kofi Sarpong suburb of Asante Mampong, where the couple lived, leaving residents in shock.
According to neighbours, the deceased and his wife, known as Abigail, were prone to frequent quarrels, with a particularly intense altercation leading to the fatal stabbing.
Abigail is currently in police custody, cooperating with ongoing investigations.
Hudu Mumuni Yahaya, an NDC representative in the Asante Mampong Constituency, confirmed the heartbreaking event, expressing condolences to the grieving family and recognising the deceased’s dedicated contributions to the party’s local activities.
Osei Akoto is survived by three children, and his body has been transported to the morgue for preservation and further examination through an autopsy.
