On Saturday, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, led the residents of Kumasi in a large-scale clean-up campaign across the city. Similar efforts were undertaken in all traditional areas within the Ashanti region.
The purpose of the exercise was to ensure that all communities were tidy and prepared for the forthcoming 25th-anniversary celebrations marking Otumfuo Osei Tutu’s reign as the 16th occupant of the Golden Stool.
Accompanied by Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Sam Pyne, the Mayor of Kumasi, Members of Parliament, traditional leaders, municipal chief executives, and other government officials, the Asantehene inspected the progress of the clean-up operation.

Various neighbourhoods, including Tafo, Bantama, Adum, Alabar, and others, were visited.
The participation from the community was significant, with residents actively engaging in the clean-up efforts. The initiative received logistical support from Zoomlion.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu expressed his appreciation for the residents’ enthusiastic involvement
To facilitate widespread participation, business activities and commercial transportation services were temporarily suspended until noon, allowing traders, drivers, businessmen and women, and all residents to take part in the clean-up exercise.
