Kofi Totobi Quakyi, a prominent figure within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western Region and former Minister for National Security, has provided vehicles to selected parliamentary candidates to boost their campaign efforts.
The beneficiaries of these 4X4 pickups include candidates from the Mpohor, Ahanta West, Amenfi East, Shama, and Kwesimintsim constituencies.
During a brief presentation ceremony attended by the Western Region Chairman, Nana Kojo Toku, and other regional executives, affectionately known as Uncle Kofi, highlighted that these vehicles constitute the initial batch of logistical support.
This support is intended to facilitate the NDC’s groundwork in preparation for the December 7 elections. Totobi Quakyi, a founding father of the party, emphasized the importance for parliamentary candidates to collaborate closely with their constituency executives.
He stressed the need for an unyielding, round-the-clock door-to-door campaign to secure a resounding victory for John Dramani Mahama.
He further called upon party members to put aside differences and unite in a concerted effort to challenge the ruling NPP.
This isn’t the first time Quakyi has made such a contribution; he previously donated eight (8) vehicles to various constituencies in the region in 2020. He expressed his expectation that the vehicles would be utilized in accordance with the party’s guidelines.
Western Regional NDC Chairman Nana Toku, in a brief address, urged the recipients to maintain the pickups effectively to fulfill their intended purpose.
Nicholas Amankwah, Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi East and spokesperson for the beneficiaries, extended gratitude to Totobi Quakyi for his initiative. He pledged the party’s commitment to hard work, aiming to secure more parliamentary seats and increase presidential votes in the upcoming December 7, 2024 elections.
